The food was excellent, facility super clean, Rehab therapists excellent and overall care good. We did have some challenges with my husband's demanding care at first but overtime we worked it our with the caring Director of Nursing Annie and amazing new Executive Director Michael. There were so many positives at Brazo Towers that I recommend it. The care of a stroke patient such as my husband is very difficult and necessitates a very active family advocate all the time. We were very disappointed in the lack of patient activities. Although a vigorous monthly calendar was posted very little activities occurred during my husband's stay. When we were leaving we saw indication regarding possible improvement in that area as well.

We are so lucky to have found The Abbey at Westminster Place. While some may say it is too pricy or only consider price when looking that the care is all the same. THAT IS SO FAR FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY!!! The Abbey is worth every penny! So far, I visit my father with a smile each day rather than worrying what "problem" or lack of care I would discover. The Abbey follows follow protocols, are professional and compassionate, are willing to work with family members to address requests or concerns, have safety procedures in place to ensure your loved ones safety, kind staff who truly enjoy working there (that is hard to find), and most of all acknowledges when the ball was dropped and willing to make changes when necessary. Tameka (Wellness Director) truly listens to your concerns and requests and creates a care plan to best assist your loved one. If you a concern, she is quick to investigate and get back to you. Rukayat (AL Director) is truly compassionate and is so kind during her assessment of your loved one. While she needs to do an assessment to recommend the best fit for your loved one, she does NOT demoralize your loved one! Jill and Norma (Activities Directors) put together a wonderful calendar of events that my father truly enjoys! Raquel (Move In Coordinator) assisted me throughout the move in process and followed through after to make sure everything needed was completed. Ashley (front desk receptionist) allows greets me with a smile and ready to answer my questions and get me answers as I learn the ropes. No place is perfect but The Abbey checks so many boxes which were not provided at our previous location. Most of all, both my father and I enjoy just being part of this community! The level of activities and healthy yummy food here at The Abbey is amazing!!! Each activity I have been to, I see the staff engaging with the residents and the staff leading the activity excited to be there and offer this for the residents! My dad's bubbly spirit has returned after moving to The Abbey! The care staff whom I have seen are ready to help you and point you in the right direction if they cannot. They truly enjoy their job and helping their residents! The administration attend many events and know the residents. The are professional and polite. Sadly many assisted living and memory care facilities take advantage of the elderly who are the most vulnerable and silence their voice or twist events and then blame on the residents lack of memory! Remember most of all, no location is perfect but what I have seen in these past weeks, The Abbey at Westminster Place is BY FAR superior and I look forward to attending the activities which truly occur when they are stated and well attended. The residents I have met so far at The Abbey, greet me with a smile and often ask me to join them or sit down and chat with them. They truly look happy. Selecting The Abbey at Westminster in Houston was a wonderful choice for me. Although you may not be in this area, look at the description of this place for comparison wherever u are. There are several layouts here. I chose one bedroom with 1 & 1/2 baths. Closet is huge. Living area while not what I used to have is lovely and ample. Food that is always an issue is wonderful. There are choices for all meals, substitutions are available, special dietary needs are accommodated and Chef will work with anyone. T he only drawback is that you are likely to gain a bit of weight mostly because the desserts are fantastic. One of the things that mattered to me was how to maintain my physical shape at my age. The exercise choices are unbelievable and will suit whatever you need. There is also Hydrotherapy included in the monthly rent. It's rare to have it and helps me so much. You will have to look up what it is. The moving in process has been as good as it can be. Staff have been so accommodating in this very difficult process. Also, must mention that the other residents here have been kind and welcoming. They all seem to relate to how hard it is to make such an enormous change in these later years. I then flew to Houston and toured the place and the facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly. TJ, the manager (is a gem) has been so nice to work with, extremely helpful and gives me updates on my father (I am in a different state). Every time I talk to my father he tells me that everyone is very helpful and very nice to him! Picking a new home for an elderly parent is such a difficult and overwhelming process, Good Living Community made the decision and transition so much easier. Highly recommend!

I was given the name of Good Living Community Care by a placement company (sorry can't remember who but she was great too!) After 2 full months here at GLCC Mom has not been sick ONCE! The other $8500/mo. nursing home she was in the emergency room 3 times. Mom is happy and healthy and lucid finally. the Manager, Monica, is a real gem and God send. Everyone at this very personal care facility is helpful, accommodating to the point of unbelievable and just as sweet as can be. Wanni, the Asst Mgr, (def not spelled right) is absolutely fabulous, keeps Mom company, interacts a lot with her and makes her laugh. SO GOOD TO SEE! They even have a wonderful stylist who comes to make Mom feel beautiful, Iris Giron, washing, cutting her hair and doing Moms nails and she's very affordable. Speaking of which for all this personal care I pay less than 1/2 of what I was paying at the nursing home. Maritime Pharmacy, takes care of all Moms meds, they have a RN visit as needed and a physical therapist 2x's a week. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is!

She…read moreneeded some extra care and the facility stated they could handle but as soon as mom got in the door and they had our money they suggested 'Hospice Care', this way they could have her there and do as little as possible, which is exactly what happened. A few of the girls were caring and knowledgeable (about 3), but others did not know and/or were not properly trained to handle a peg tube, and other, creating some accidents and unneeded stress among other issues! Outsiders even told us that there were better places and to get out as soon as possible. Management made promises and of course they want to get you in the door but buyer beware, once you are in you better be there just about every day to check in or who knows how your loved one will be handled or treated. They keep surveillance cameras for their benefit but won't allow you to have any - wonder why? Oh, they are nice enough and rapidly made changes and kept our monies instead of acting in a more professional manner after saying might give back if another party moved in. Well the other party was in within the day and no monies were refunded. All in all they are one big smiley face that's not so kind with not so well trained staff for the ones really needing the care. There are many other wonderful places that truly care. We know and have found one now with a night and day difference. So if you are considering this place do not be misled by the presentation - Beware!

My Dad broke his hip and had a full hip replacement; both parents being in their mid 70's we knew he needed to recover in a place that would offer him safety. The team at Affectionate Care is like a big family! Everyone rallied to make us all feel at home and that's what it felt like everyday while my Dad recovered and needed full time care. The staff obviously love their jobs, it shows in how they treat all residents and the family who visit. Our experience was amazing and I highly recommend them for long-term or short-term care for anyone you love! Mary Schlegel (Director) is very hands on interacting with staff, residents and family. The Com For Care located on Oyster Bay St in Sugarland does not keep their promises and will let…read moreyour loved one die while suffering. The caregiver is the only positive thing about this company and the kitchen was clean, other than that: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. As a hospice RN, I can honestly say that they broke many guidelines and DEFINITELY did not provide appropriate end of life of care for my father. No pain medication for a dying person who could barely speak with a broken hip is not only a hospice guideline violation but it's inhumane. The hospice provider is GENCARE Hospice. RUN!!!! I was assured of updates, as well as promised that I would be given enough time to come be with my father so he would not die alone. I was notified 1 hr and 40 mins after he passed. He was receiving a "bed bath" when he passed. Any decent and compassionate hospice provider would have respected my requests that he not be moved unless absolutely necessary - because he screamed at the top of his lungs in pain. When I requested that he be given pain medications, at the very least, before they repositioned him, the hospice nurse justified not doing this by saying, "You know that no matter what we give him, he's still going to scream. A broken hip hurts". WHAT? I was blown away. I've never heard a more ridiculous answer in my 32 years as a nurse. Oh really? Then why wasn't he getting medicated regularly? She finally agreed to medicate him before moving him-which I have zero faith that she did. In hospice, a good nurse can tell when a patient is "active" which means the patient has hours -maybe days to live. No one there could tell that. I showed a video and photos of my father to MD friends and the owners of the hospice I work for and they were appalled. He was breathing 32/min... a clear sign of distress and screamed when I touched his head. All of my coworkers said he was "active" at that time. Not the Com for Care owner and certainly not his horrible hospice RN could see that. Every human being deserves to die pain free and with dignity. Do not trust this home with your family member and DEFINITELY DO NOT USE GENCARE hospice- unless you want your family member to suffer.

We did a lot of research and spoke with a number of places. We were also in the midst of some extremely difficult health issues with other family. We have been so pleased with the care our parents receive at Com For Care. The staff is positive and thorough and stable. The stability in a business of high turnover is highly unusual and a reflection of the long history of Com for Care and Ann's leadership. There really is not a comparable place that we have seen or even heard of. Our lives were changed once we moved our loved ones to Com for Care.
