This place does not respond when patients use their call button. I have visited a relative several times and patient call buttons going off patient hollering for help and no one responding for at least 40 minutes. The greeters at the front desk on 2/15/25 at 1:50 pm did not even speak and when I spoke the lady still did not speak . Totally unacceptable. read more

I don't know why this place gets such low reviews. Compared to others I've seen, it's DEFINITELY a cut above. ALL the staff I've come in contact with while staying with my mom are friendly and helpful. Food - Your loved one can order from the menus, there are snacks placed out which at night, I find particularly helpful for my mom. . Fruit is always available in any of the cafeterias which are on every floor or take out/delivery is available. They also have spa type fruit water and tea available 24/7. *I mean, they don't have to put orange slices in the water dispenser or lemon in the tea...but they do, little things make a difference.* There's also plain still water and ice is available 24/. I saw a review saying the food isn't that great, I totally disagree with that; so far everything my mom has had has been really tasty. Amenities: There is free valet, a nice pool area, lots of scheduled activities, lots of vignettes for visiting, reading, etc. They even have happy hour. . There's a nail salon, hair salon and they do "field trips". They have tech time where I assume they help residents with their devices, different types of religious service (Jewish, Christian, for ex.) There is karaoke, bingo, afternoon snacks with lively upbeat music. Staff also engages and anticipates needs of residents in the times. Security - Everyone signs in and out on a kiosk at a staff manned desk to receive a printed sticker badge. Every single time, so far without exception. The first time you have to provide your ID and take a pic. Living arrangements: Assisted, Rehab and fully independent. I have yet to see a disgruntled resident, though there probably are some, the vibe is happy, helpful, upbeat. I've not seen/heard a single staff speak less than kind and caring to any resident. Physical/occupational therapy, certified nurses/doctors are also on staff/available. You can have your own personal sitter to be with your loved one. It's in the heart of the Galleria area, a block/two from Nordstrom and Dillards. So, everything is literally at your fingertips. Concerns: one so far. They don't really seem to have enough staff for moving low motility weaker patients say from bed to wheelchair or bedside potty. So, if you're not able to assist for some reason, that might be an issue for you. I am so glad we decided upon Brookdale. I've seen many others with other family members, this one is a blessing. read more

Some of the serious things I encountered during my recent stay at Brooksdale Galleria, due to incredibly low standards of care and accountability. Loss of Personal Items: Upon my discharge, I discovered that several of my personal belongings, including my phone, hearing aids, and various medications, were missing. This indicates a lack of responsibility for patients' property and concerns about security measures. Neglect of Basic Needs: Female patients are kept in diapers and changed only every two to four hours leading to discomfort and hygiene issues. As a knee replacement surgery patient, with a bandage that needed sterile conditions, the bed was often soaked with urine and with food in it was distressing. Medical Negligence: A severe rash developed around my surgery bandage, causing intense pain and discomfort. Despite seeking medical attention, the doctor on duty expressed reluctance to examine the wound, citing discomfort. This lack of professional responsibility in a healthcare setting is deeply troubling.- see photo Inadequate Pain Management: The attached medication tally sheet indicates a gross mismanagement of my prescribed narcotic pain medication. It appears that I received my pain medication only four times over 15 days, the prescription said I could take it every 4 hours. See photos - it was actually given away to another family - not mine and then to a man named Don - see photo - there are nurse signatures to this Unauthorized Medication: A nurse came in one night and said this is your anti-depressant. I told her I don't take an anti-depressant. She said you did last night. That's the first I knew of it. I felt pressured and took it then said wasn't going to again. I signed a refusal form. I asked for a copy but they refused to provide one. I was not diagnosed by anyone with depression. There was no discussion with me about taking an anti-depression pill. So I was tranquilized without my consent or knowledge. The next night I felt the same as I had the two nights before. My friend who I called on the phone during these events said I was speaking slurred both times. She and I believe they gave it to me again after I signed the non-consent. I had a discussion about it with the nurse practitioner and her expression and behavior made it seem like she was lying. Restriction of Movement: The discouragement of physical activity, crucial for recovery post-surgery, was a notable concern. This practice is counterproductive to rehabilitation and raises questions about the facility's commitment to patient recovery physical therapists discourage improvement. A physical therapist also lied to me the day I said I was leaving she said I couldn't leave until the surgeon sent orders over the surgeon's staff confirmed that was not true. I continued to tell the physical therapist that I wanted to see the social worker there as I was leaving I had to repeat the request over and over. She finally got her but had told her I wanted to speak to her because I was afraid the insurance was going to make me leave. I snapped at the social worker that was not true and told her I was leaving today the 15th of December, having been there 15 days and she did not lie to me she knew I had the right to leave and she processed it. The doctor of the facility came in later that day and told me I was much better and I was good to go. There is so much more that happened during my short stay. The Texas nursing home negligence wrongful death lawsuit alleges, in part: "Prior to her death, Aneta Cupp was under the care of Brookdale Galleria. While under the care of Brookdale Galleria, she required suctioning and an employee of Brookdale Galleria attempted to suction her mouth. When the Brookdale Galleria [employee] could not get the suctioning tubing into her mouth and throat, she forced the tube into her mouth and throat. This overly aggressive and improper suctioning resulted in heavy bleeding from the mouth and throat of Aneta Cupp and contributed to her death." read more

My mother accidentally broke her leg. She had surgery. We spent time at Brookdale Galleria Rehab. on Floor 2. We were available to stay with her the entire time. We had a good experience at Brookdale. read more

Our Activities Director is wonderful, she goes above and beyond for our residents, she worked with residents to put a Valentine's show together, that's was amazing. read more

Rochelle and Martha are absolute angels- brightening your day with just a smile and always making you feel welcome. I was struggling finding a place for my father to live, and Brookdale was a no-brainer. The staff are friendly, caring and attentive. Quality care is the name of their game, and you can rest assured your loved one will be taken care of wonderfully here. 3 square meals a day, a pool, put putt, an on site game room/movie room plus many more amenities. I would recommend living here 10/10. read more

Staff is horrible and non attentive to patient needs. My love one was verbal so I can imagine how non verbal patients are ignored.

My mother was at Brookdale near the end of her life. she was well cared for and everyone there treated her like family.

Not bad, used to be much better. The food is better than most places, nursing staff is complacent and frequently unresponsive. They arent the best Houston has to offer but, they arent the worst. Rooms are nicely maintained, residents are encouraged to decorate, full cable package, and internet. Nursing facility does not smell like dirty diapers.
