We drove about 2.5 hours to pick up our puppy, and from the moment we met Trisha, she was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient while I chose the puppy that was right for our family. Before we left, she provided all of Mia's records and even sent us home with a bag of food. On the drive home, Mia vomited, but we assumed it was motion sickness from the long car ride. Over the next several hours, she continued vomiting, developed diarrhea, and stopped eating, drinking, and playing. Concerned, we called the emergency veterinarian. Based on her symptoms, they told us Mia likely had parvo, advised us to stop all food and water immediately, and bring her in if her condition got any worse. Before rushing to the emergency clinic, I called Trisha at 6:00 a.m. She listened carefully and suggested that Mia's blood sugar might be low due to her tiny size. Following Trisha's advice, I gave Mia a small amount of syrup. Within minutes, she perked up and began acting more like herself. Trisha's experience and understanding of her puppies made all the difference. Her guidance not only helped us avoid a costly emergency vet visit but, more importantly, helped keep Mia safe. Had we followed the advice to completely restrict food and water for a puppy weighing less than two pounds, the outcome could have been very different. We are incredibly grateful for Trisha's knowledge, responsiveness, and dedication to her puppies. Thank you, Trisha. When we met she was very nice to me and my mom and was very patient with us when we asked questions, when I translated all the information to my mom who only speaks Spanish and took a few minutes with each of the puppies we were interested in. You can tell that the puppies are really well cared for so if you're interested in a yorkie puppy this is the place/person to buy from! After that horrible experience we started searching for someone reputable. I already have two Ragdolls, but the breeder I got them from is way too far for me to drive since moving to Nashville. I was willing to drive back to the Chicagoland area if we found a great breeder. We did some research and Midwest Ragdolls came up. We contacted DR. Jennifer Creed regarding a seal mitted female, and she replied immediately that she had one for us. She is very reasonably priced. Although, communication wasn't the greatest when we initially requested photos, and other info., but she always sent us what we requested within a few days of asking. I'm going to be very transparent on this review because I wish someone had done this when I was reading reviews. A few things weren't making sense to me as far as age, and pickup of the kitten. I was very hesitant, and unsure if I would actually follow through with picking the kitten up on the date given based off of negative reviews I was reading during my 7 hour drive up to Chicago. I read that her kittens were malnourished, too early to go home, they weren't socialized well, and that she was using her veterinarian status to fool people. After looking at her website again, I noticed all the kittens, and adult cats looked healthy and well cared for. When I decided I was going to move forward and pick my kitten up I did just that. I can not emphasize enough how opposite those negative reviews are. DR. Creed has a beautiful property her kittens are born, and raised on. She was extremely welcoming, pleasant, knowledgeable, and my gorgeous seal mitted baby girl was perfect! She is extremely social, lovable, snuggly, playful, clean, and healthy. After, meeting Dr.Creed, I now know that the slight lack of communication wasn't intentional. She's a full time veterinarian, mom, and on the side breeds Ragdolls for the love she has for them. In all honesty, DO NOT second guess getting a Ragdoll kitten from Midwest Ragdolls. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I spoke with Jennifer Creed, who seemed quite busy and didn't have much time to discuss details, but I still placed a $250 deposit for a seal bicolor kitten. About a month later, Jennifer sent me pictures of a kitten. When I asked a few simple questions about its traits and appearance, she suggested that I take a seal mitted kitten instead of the seal bicolor I had originally reserved. When I asked whether the kitten would look like the father as an adult, she immediately mentioned refunding my deposit rather than answering. That response made me wonder if a seal bicolor kitten was ever actually available. The quick offer of a refund, along with the limited communication and lack of patience, left a poor impression. Overall, I found the experience unprofessional and disappointing. I truly wanted this to go well, but based on how things were handled, I wouldn't recommend Midwest Ragdoll. Update: i never said i didn't wanted, you were so impatient and rude answering my questions and wanted to refund the amount. I have posted the screenshots our chat on google review, so let the people judge you based on it. Also I was not mean at all and it's your responsibility as a breeder to provide as much information as you can. Better learn customer service first rather just selling.

We had the best experience at Becker Animal Hospital in Northfield, Illinois!…read more My dog, Bodhi, had a dental under anesthesia in March of 2025. In December, our Vet noticed Bodhi needed another teeth cleaning. I didn't want him to receive anesthesia again so soon, especially because his breed is sensitive. I found Becker Animal on an internet search for non-anesthesia dental cleanings; they were highly rated. The ratings are spot on! It was a wonderful experience. Our dog had a temperament evaluation with a vet at Becker first. After, he was able to have a full teeth cleaning without anesthesia. The total cost was $305. Bodhi was wrapped in a blanket and his teeth were cleaned in the technicians lap. It only took about 30 minutes. The treatment included cold laser on his gums to help with swelling and a post-treatment consultation to review his dental hygiene, findings, and optional dental products. We left with a goodie bag including a dental chew, toothpaste and a toothbrush. Before and after pics and Bodhi in goggles for laser treatment. Yes, they even take pictures for you! The office was friendly, helpful, and communicated beautifully. Stacey manages the dental bookings. She is excellent with answering questions and scheduling . A+ experience!

The reviews are not wrong about the small enclosures in-store but the animals are healthy and it's a small business-- what do people expect? Presumably you're there to buy an animal and will be giving them a better enclosure. It's a pet store, not a zoo. Compared to a big chain store it wasn't really that different, except that Kenn has more employees than you'd find in a chain store 5x its size (which says a lot about his priorities). He showed me the only two fancy mice that were available and when I asked if they should be bought together, he was honest. He said "I'm not going to tell you that they're bonded or anything, but mice do like to have company." He was clearly trying to ensure we didn't feel pressured to buy something we didn't want while also being honest about reality. He answered all of my questions about the mice and got me set up with the supplies I'd need without my even asking. He pointed out deals to us and offered us different solutions, immediately noticing that we had a budget. But the store had everything you'd need for a rodent there: toys, treats, enclosures, bedding, and the best recommended food. Two weeks later and the little mice we bought from him are healthy and happy-- and also beautiful. The grey one is really friendly and loves to be held, which is so sweet. The siamese one is a little standoffish but can still be held if you coax her out with a toilet paper tube. I did end up getting a larger 20-gallon tank for them that I found on sale rather than the plastic hamster cage I bought from the store (which-- again-- was kindly suggested by Kenn when it was clear we were worried about expense). Anyway, I really enjoy having these little creatures around. I'm thinking of going back to buy a rat!

Also, my Betta passed due to cancer last year (I had imported him from Thailand but he had genetic disease). I finally decided to get another while I was getting the Finch at The Animal Store. Kevin and staff are so nice. I am impressed with how clean and well stocked the store is. What an amazing selection of critters of all types. The birds are beautiful. Probably the nicest pet shop especially for Birds that I have been to in greater Chicago. I will definitely be back if only to admire the wonderful animals. I was also to get good quality Dubia roaches for my Bearded Dragon. Great selection. I highly recommend ! It's a great one stop shop for me as I have many different pets and I can get supplies for all. A kids dream store.
