This review is for Mark and his wonderful team. About Me: I am originally from CA and we made arrangements to see Mark in NY specifically for ring shopping. Booking the Appointment: I had booked the flights out to NY months before our appointment so I had time to research and prepare as well. Throughout everything, Mark was very communicative and responsive. His humorous personality shines through in his emails, which makes you feel relaxed! Day of Appointment: Mark was sooo gracious and kind throughout the entire process! He is extremely personable and he did what he could and showed us diamonds that were in our price range. He genuinely really cares about his customers and he did something that no other vendor had done. He had taken out his loupe and ideal scope so we can view the diamonds. In addition, he sat down, gave us some history on diamonds and himself and even gave my boyfriend a diamond lesson on how to use a loupe. This sounds silly, but most vendors won't even give you a loupe or will just hand one over to you thinking you know how to do it. The appointment with Mark was very relaxed and he made sure that we had his undivided attention. We never felt rushed OR pressured which can be what you experience when buying diamonds. He took things slowly and at our pace. He even took the time to get to know US as individuals as we were looking at diamonds. A lot of other vendors really just get straight to the point, show the diamonds, ask you what you think, then you are standing there just nervous and limited in time. Another thing that diamond lovers will appreciate is that Mark's office is set up in an area where there is a tone of natural lighting. A lot of other vendors will have numerous lights hitting the stones to give it more fire and brilliance! The diamonds you see on Mark's desk is pretty true to what it will look like when you leave the store. The only light he has is the desk light. I think that's one of the things that should be noted. When you're looking at a diamond try to see it in different lighting. I've been to some stores where there are 2-3 lights on the diamond - of course it will sparkle! If you want a vendor that will really take care of you, I highly recommend Mark and his team. He is raved about on diamond websites. He's not part of those cheap jewelry booths where they are just trying to ring in a couple of bucks (and trust me, I've been to those in LA and NY). You're basically a piece of meat. When it came to looking for a jeweler for an engagement ring, I was referred to many stores and jewelers, but none matched the experience Mark provided. In December 2016 my husband and I decided to upgrade my engagement ring, which was a 1.5ct cushion cut with a pave band. I always wanted my ring to look bigger, approximately the size of a 2ct center. Instead of doing away with the original center stone we decided that adding halos would be the best solution (this way we would retain the original stone that my husband proposed with). I contacted Brilliantly Engaged after seeing their intricate work posted on wedding/engagement blogs and made an appointment. We were assigned to work with Chris, who was patient and professional. He listened to my request for a double halo, with French etching and pave on the band. The finished product was nothing short of excellence. The reason I decided to write this review is because I wish I had read one like this before making the appointment... The double halo ring looks huge on my 4.5 size finger. If I had the option to redo the process I would have asked Chris to see similar style settings. When we sat down with Chris we were only shown one, single halo circular ring. I genuinely wish that I asked to see different variations of the double halo, such as the double edge halo, which appears more like a single halo from above with the second halo around the perimeter. My advice to anyone seeking a first time ring or upgrade is to ask to see all of your options. I find myself wearing just my wedding band because the engagement ring looks gaudy and more like a cocktail ring, which is not appropriate for my place of work.
