Late Friday afternoon, wanted to try something quick and different in the area. Walking in, you order/pay at the kiosks to the side while waiting for your name to be called afterwards. Decided on the Signature Thigh ($7ish) to go along with Marinated Tomato/Palm Hearts ($4ish) and a Fountain Soda ($2.50). My name is called out after 10 minutes - well packaged in a cardboard container (soda fountain is to the other side). The chicken is definitely well marinated, covered in sauce that seeps all the way through. Tomato/Palm hearts are refreshing, fine enough as a side to the chicken if you don't want something substantial. Only qualm is that you need several napkins to get through the chicken since there's no easy way to eat the thing. As mentioned, service here is efficient, and there is plenty of open seating inside. A lot to love here! Brine's roast chicken just may be the best fire roasted chicken I've ever eaten. The half portion comes with both the white and dark together and I'm not sure how they were able to accomplish a juicy breast portion with a fully cooked leg and thigh together. The meat holds a perfect combination of flavor and smoke. The sides that are available are incredible as well. I'd say that even a vegetarian might be able to make a great meal out of the sides that are available. Beets, Carrots, Broccoli, and French Fries were all perfect. The unexpected grilled brioche bread underneath the chicken might have been the biggest surprise. A thick slice of bread that really soaked up all the juices from the bird, was the first thing I finished on the plate. Finally the self serve sauces were delicious as well. The ratings are through the roof for Brine. 4.5 stars is a must try. I didn't realize it is a quick service type place. You can argue it is fast food style ordering but the food is way more fresh than fast food. You order at the screen when you walk in. I ordered the asian flavored chicken sandwich and it was the best thing I had. The chicken was the most moist fried chicken I have had on a sandwich. It puts all the other fast food chicken sandwiches to shame. Unfortunately, the original chicken tenders were nothing to shout home about. Pretty basic and didn't have the same moistness as the sandwich weird enough. It surprised me since you would think they would be able to nail chicken tenders. I also tried the chicken salad sandwich and it was solid but you don't come here for chicken salad. The sides didn't impress me too much. The spicy seasoned fries were not my thing. The spice mix was not balanced. It tasted weird. I had heard the sauces were good but I didn't particularly like any of them. They were on the spicier side but not for me. The MSG sandwich was absolutely AMAZING. It was about 10 bucks. Fried chicken, super savory and a nice sweet sauce on top, I wish it came with cheese. We also ordered the chili Seasoned fries and the broccoli. Extremely over seasoned... I love seasoned fries with extra seasoning... but seasoned to the point I could barely taste the fries. The broccoli toppings were nice, broccoli wasn't bad, too charred for my taste. Definitely will come back for the sandwich and to try other things on the menu. Highly suggest! If you're a chicken lover or even a so/so periodic chicken eater, Brine is for you. It's a fast casual restaurant that has a nice ambiance and comfortable seating. They have a selection of salads, as well as chicken pieces and a sando. I highly recommend ordering a combo that comes with a 1/2 spatchcock chicken and two sides. Now, the sides are really impressive. I've been here 3x, and have still only managed to try 2 of the sides because I'm convinced they can't get better. The charred broccoli is delicious - it's cheesey and drizzled with an aioli. I also love the crinkle fries... because who doesn't love crinkle fries. The problem: I've heard all the sides are amazing - especially the beets. So, I guess I'll have to make a 4th trip. You can make Brine healthy if you want to, and it's pretty much something I'd never not be in the mood to eat. Brine is one of my new favorite spots for delivery. First of all, they've been (so far) extremely consistent - delivering on time, everything included, everything incredibly fresh (including the fries, which is impressive). The menu is small, which is probably my least favorite thing about the place. Your options are limited basically to the spatchcock chicken or the pulled chicken sandwich. They have a few salads on the menu as well. I'm not a HUGE fan of chicken thigh and so it would be great to have a breast option. With that said, the thigh is great, especially the delicious rub on it. Very tender and juicy. There are probably 10 or so sides to choose from. So far the fries and the beets are my favorite. I've also tried the broccoli (great) and the coleslaw (good). You can opt for a mini version of any of their salads as a side which is nice. The sauces are all amazing, although I like the honey mustard and the green buttermilk the best. Jalapeño is HOT as a warning. Meals are around $13-$17 depending on what you get, which I think is fair. All in all, will definitely order again. read more

Did we eat at the same restaurant? I ordered for delivery the chicken breast with fries and Caesar salad and the 53rd bowl. The chicken breast was hard, dry and cold. It was inedible. The claim is that this is brined for 24 hours but I suspect it was cooked for that long instead. Fries were stale, hard, cold and unseasoned. The salad is limp and unappetizing. The dressing is good, though, so I guess that's something? I haven't tried the bowl yet but whole the vegetables look decent, the chicken is very unappealing by sight - all dark meat and grizzly. The best things on the plate were the sauces. The buttermilk res had amazing flavor. The chicken (I had the boneless breast) was incredibly dry and cold. I know white meat typically dries out faster than dark meat but this was inedible - it bent the prongs of the plastic fork I was using. Really disappointing, especially since their chicken is supposed to be the star of the show. As for sides, I had the coconut rice and charred broccoli. Both were also cold and rice was on the salty side. I really wanted to like Brine and even had a few other items I saw on the menu that I would've gone back to try but unfortunately this will be my last visit. I ordered Brine last night for the first time last night via DeliverZero (amazing & easy way to get takeout/delivery in returnable reusable containers instead of single-use) and was beyond happy with the food. I'm pretty picky when it comes to when it comes to food quality and you can tell Brine doesn't mess around. Everything was amazing but I was most impressed with the tenders! They didn't seem too fried or breaded, allowing the chicken to really shine! We got the Gigi Salad, 53rd st bowl, spicy chicken salad, half chicken with coleslaw and broccoli, 2 tenders and blackened chicken fries. We also got a side of beets and charred broccoli. Brine pretty much does one thing: chicken. But it does this really damn well. The chicken is covered in blackened chili and honey-garlic sauces, then fire-grilled. The resulting meat is tender and juicy, plus the sauces give it a delicious smoky, spicy, slightly sweet flavor. The sandwich is less impressive, mostly because the chicken gets pulled and shredded, making it taste dryer and less flavorful. But hey, you can choose from an array of sauces to spruce things up. I've tried several of their sides and enjoyed them all. You can't go wrong with the aromatic coconut rice and peas. I like the sweet roasted beets with creamy, tangy goat cheese tzatziki. The honey roasted garlic Caesar salad is great, giving off the illusion of healthiness while being smothered in really tasty, creamy, garlicky dressing that also reminds me a bit of avocado. The brown sugar and lemon carrots are deliciously glazed and sweet, though I wish the carrots were just a touch softer. The decor is simple and to the point, with self-order screens that are becoming more and more prevalent even while an employee is there to explain things to you (Ah, technology... the more advanced it gets, the less people are necessary). It's not very dazzling and definitely embodies that fast-casual vibe, but they nail the execution of their food, which is the most important thing anyway. read more

Your typical casual dining lunch spot. They offer seating here but most people I've seen had their orders to-go. I had their signature 1/4 thigh plate with brown rice. They claimed to "mastered the art of juicy chicken", but I thought my piece could've been just a bit juicier. Still edible though. The chicken was thoroughly seasoned and I could easily make out the herbs and spices used. I was also a fan of their brown rice. It is simmered with coconut milk, thyme, and onion. It was extremely aromatic as soon as I opened my take-out box. Speaking of their take-out box, I had a hard time trying to fish out my food from the box because of its high walls. Overall, it was an efficient (but not perfect) ordering process (there is little to no customization available on the ordering kiosk) and the food was tasty but options were lacking for vegetarians. The whole kiosk thing can really go either way depending on the competence level of the people in front of you, but the one here is designed very well and is easy to use. A small chicken shop with high tech. You walk in and order from a kiosk and just swipe your credit or debit card. They don't take cash, but you can use a separate kiosk to convert your cash into a cash filled card that you can swipe just like a credit or debit card. Now about the food. We had the MSG sandwich. a mega-crisp, huge buttermilk fried chicken breast, sweet chili dipped, with sweet soy mayo, sesame seeds, and scallions. It was delicious and sloppy. I will order pickup through the web next time and take it home where I can have a roll of Brawny towels by my side. And you will need to wash your hands and face afterwards. They have flame broiled chicken with or without sides, bowls, chicken tenders and salads. All the chicken is brined for 24 hours resulting in a juicy chicken. I can vouch for that since I have been brining chicken and turkey for years. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the staff is personable and will help you through the ordering process if you need it. I will be back here to try the flame broiled chicken dishes. Go to their site and peruse the menu. If you're a chicken maven, you will definitely find something you like. The sides are interesting too. Not just fries, but items like charred broccoli, rice and roasted beets topped with goat cheese. Believe me, you can have this food for supper, and you will be sated without being poor.
