Wow, I can definitely see why the pancakes are worth all the hype! We came on a Saturday right before opening, and the line was already more than half a block long. Surprisingly, we only waited about 30-40 minutes. Service was efficient, and we felt like we were in and out. Had your typically diner vibes. Last time it was about a four hour wait so I left - this time I planned in advance to walk around Chinatown after I put my name down. Luckily I had the freedom to come in at an odd hour on the weekday and only had to wait 30 min vs their typical 1-2 hour waits. I have to say this is one of the few places that is worth the wait. That first bite into their famous pancakes (5/5) has me kicking my feet. It's insanely fluffy and light and that honey lemony syrup is liquid gold I swear. Snagged a 9am rez for 3 on a random night a few weeks ago when I was still up at midnight. It's a small space, which explains why a reservation is hard to come by, and why walk-ins have to wait hours to be seated. Before we even ordered our food, a cup of coffee was a must. Let me just say that the coffee in any diner is a pretty good indicator, to any true New Yorker, of how good the food will be, and this coffee did not disappoint! For food, we tried the pancakes with berries and extra lemon zest on the side (so good,) the omelette with mushrooms, peppers, and sausage, and the Egg Sandwich. All of the items were really good, with the pancakes being the well deserved standout. The fluffiness of the pancakes reminded me of former Le Barricou's, but the lighter texture, and buttery flavor/pop of lemon of Golden Diner's, definitely takes the win. The viral honey butter pancakes So let's talk about this whole experience. This was one of the places on my New York trip that I had to come that has been all over my social media the past two years. These pancakes, I have seen in video after video on my TikTok and Instagram page even to the point where people were doing mock recipes to make these pancakes at home. The restaurant is set up like a cute little old school coffee shop, where they have counter seating and little tables. My review on the pancakes is a 10 out of 10 possibly one of the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. They were unbelievably fluffy, but dense at the same time where they were very filling. The honey butter was so tasty and made every bite so enjoyable where it just like melted in my mouth. I'm glad that I did not get the single because these were so good. I would've been upset if I had to order it again and I think price wise it made more sense to just get the full stack which is 2. Tried again Saturday night around 830 and the wait was 30-45 minutes long Everyone raves about the honey butter pancakes but I'm honestly not sure what the hype is about and I would definitely not wait 3 hours?? The pancakes are fluffy, yes, but otherwise, not the most mind blowing pancakes I've ever had. Definitely underwhelming and did not meet my expectations The vegan grilled and kimchi tomato soup on the other hand... this I would wait 3 hours for. The crispiness of the bread, with the melty cheese, dipped into the kimchi tomato soup is just the most perfect combination. The kimchi tomato soup is more like kimchi jiggage with a hint of tomato. Came on Mothers Day for brunch and while we got on line 30 minutes before opening, the line was already close to under the bridge. We missed the first seating and had to put down our number to wait for whatever is available. I requested that I get notified for inside seating as I have two younger kids and prefer not to sit outside. We hung around the area for maybe 30 minutes and then got a text saying a table was available if we can finish our meal for 45 minutes. We took it not knowing if we'd be done in 45 minutes but from ordering to recieving the first plate of food took maybe no longer than 10 minutes. Within a few minutes after, everything we ordered came. We were eating, not rushing and enjoying our food. We ordered the pancakes because thats what most come here for, along with an egg sandwich, chicken wings and a egg breakfast plate. The egg sandwich on the scallion brioche was my absolute favorite. I wanted to like the pancakes more but I think it was missing that "crust." It was good but not great. Chicken wings were not too bad- overall everyone enjoyed eating through the items we ordered and we managed to finish with maybe just 5 minutes over the promised time. Friday night around 7:30pm: Arrived and immediately found parking. Saw no line. I got so excited. Walked in to check in. Gave the hostess my number and she said an hour and thirty minute wait. I have my number and received a texted. Approximately 30 minutes into the wait, I received a text asking if I was still interested in dining. "Yes" was my answer. Lol 45 minutes into the wait, I received a message stating I should be seated in 15 minutes. At this time, we walked into the covered door area and waited. Exactly an hour, we were waited on. We were seated at the bar area. We ordered the double stacked pancakes, the Korean wings, burger and fries. Initially I didn't want to sit at the bar however it's in front of the cooks so we didn't mind watching them cook/prep the different orders. 9 I prefer a crispy edge pancake and these were opposite. They were flurry, drenched in syrup and delicious. The lemon zest was different nonetheless it gave it a great flavor. 9 out of 10 The wings were crispy and definitely spicy. I liked them, 8 out 10. I didn't eat the burger however the review is it was good. Rated a 7 out of 10. I wouldn't definitely go back however I will make a reservation. So far I have had food from Golden Diner several times in 2021 as I use to live across the street. I first ordered takeout at the register on a fairly crowded day and it was delicious. I have only ever ordered the pancakes with berries here. I haven't been back since 2021 because their reservations are lousy. read more

I came with some girlfriends late on a Friday night hoping to miss the line, we showed up around 8:45 and were seated as soon as a group got up. We had food by 9:30. The staff is nice, we sat outside which was fine for outdoor seating. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and it might be the best breakfast burrito I've had in NY. There are beans which I rarely ever find in this style of breakfast burritos but it was a nice surprise, would definitely come back for it. The pancakes are great but maybe over hyped (?), and the wings were really good but maybe could have been better tossed in the sauce. Over all thought it was really good but maybe not worth waiting more than 20-30 minutes for. read more
