After about two hours, I could barely see any difference in my hair. The only noticeable result was that my hair felt much drier and more damaged. She then told me that because my hair was very dark, she could not make it lighter. That is unacceptable because she saw my hair before starting and still told me she could do it. Since she could see that I was unhappy, she offered me a discount to come back a second time and redo the process to get the lightness I originally wanted. I went back, spent another two to three hours there, and after all that, she put a dark color over the lightened parts and left it on for about 20 minutes. The result was still almost nothing--just dry, damaged hair with barely any visible change. Even my friend could not tell that I had done anything to my hair. I paid $500 and got basically no result. If you have dark hair, I do not recommend trusting Niki Moon Salon for balayage or highlight or ... They may say they can do it, but in my experience, they could not deliver the result they promised. The stylist later said she put dark color over the lightened areas because I told her I did not want red or yellow tones. But I have had balayage done many times before and achieved lighter results without red or yellow tones. Avoiding brassiness should not mean making the hair dark again and leaving the client with no visible result. In my opinion, if a stylist cannot achieve the requested result on dark hair, they should be honest before starting instead of wasting the client's time and money. I do not recommend Niki Moon Salon for people who are not already blonde. This photo was taken right after her second appointment. Can you see any difference? I couldn't either! I also showed the hairstylist a picture of what I wanted. $500 for... nothing!

I have been going to Christina since I was 8 years and I could not trust or love her more. I will share this story and photos just to show her magical abilities and serious understanding of hair and hair treatments. I moved from Chicago to New York City a few years ago and was going on a last minute vacation for which I wanted to touch up my highlights. When I went in for my trial with Dana, I had a half up look with 2 twists back, the end result was messy and had Bobby pins sticking out a lot, I had assumed this was because it was the trial and we had moved the hair quite a bit and she didn't need to take the time to clean it up as it was the trial. I was wrong as this was the same result on wedding day. I had decided to simplify my half up look that I did at the trial just a little and one twist per side instead of two, but my stylist questioned me for wanting to change and was resistant of going with a small variation. I showed her a photo for reference and was very clear in explaining and showing her what I wanted. My hair was nothing close to what I asked for, when she first showed me in the mirror what the back looked like I was left speechless and honestly horrified because it was nothing what I asked for and looked like a mess. I had to bring my mom and sister over to help see what she was doing with the back of my hair because she wasnt understanding how to clean up the style and to style it the way i asked. She didn't listen to what I wanted, did the opposite of what I asked and I was in tears sitting in her chair because I knew that my hair was not going to look how I wanted on my wedding day and had little faith that she could make it look like what I even remotely wanted. Eventually I gave up trying to tell her and show her exactly what I wanted and accepted that my hair wasn't going to be what I wanted because I was then running out of time and had to continue getting ready. I look back at the photos and am sad and embarrassed about how my hair looked that day. My bridesmaids and mom also had issues with both Dana and her partner Monika of them not listening to what they wanted and the styles looking much different than the inspiration photos given. My hair also did not stay secure and pinned up, it fell out completely during the reception and I resorted to putting my hair up myself. I am really disappointed and honestly wish I had done my hair myself, it would have saved me stress and tears on my wedding day and I know I would have actually liked my hair. I am not one to typically write about my negative experiences, but as many are looking for a hairstylist for your wedding day, I want the brides to have the best experience on their wedding day and to be happy, so to proceed with caution when booking.

I had a pretty bad experience with one of the "larger" bridal firms in Chicago who charged an exorbitant amount of money for a trial - which was awful. I then went in for a much more appropriately priced trial with Beth and was "wowed". On the day of the wedding, she did the make-up for most of my bridesmaids as well as my mother and mother-in-law. She made everyone look wonderful and my mother-in-law said "this is the most beautiful I've ever felt". My make-up lasted the entire day and never got that "cakey" look which I hate (as someone who doesn't typically wear a ton of make-up/foundation). Beth has a wonderful talent for enhancing people's natural beauty, which is perfect for weddings. I would absolutely recommend Beth for any bride's wedding day!
