Horrible. My mom got 3 dozen crabs, potatoes, and corn. The crabs weren't cooked all the way, the inside of the crabs were disgusting. Hence why they were $24 not their expensive $36. No meat. They were light as a feather! They look like farmed crabs and Not wild caught. Potatoes weren't cooked! Sad. The corn was cold and soggy. Probably from freezing and thawing. I must say, this place has a line of people waiting for food and it stayed busy. I was in Harlem and knew I wanted to get some seafood and a lot of it for a little price. I ordered a full-size lobster that was still alive in the tank that I was able to select, I picked out some cut up corn pieces and broccoli and was able to get that entire thing steamed and cooked for $40. I think that was a pretty good price for a full-size lobster. I paid $40 for a lobster tail in Atlanta alone. This was the whole thing. I will say the lobster itself was not the best flavor and texture. it was a little chewy like they overcooked it and I still had to add seasonings. The corn I think needed more time to cook. The best part was the broccoli. The broccoli being steamed in that melted butter was really my favorite part and again I'm a lobster lover. 1) Food Theives: Count your food. If you want your food steamed, count your broccoli and crab legs (in the packages) before giving your basket of food to the guys preping the food. They conviently do not have a mirrior above the prep table, so you can't see when they steal your food. I reiterate that this location will keep a few pieces of your broccoli and broken pieces of your crab legs. I'm sure they resale the stolen food. This has been happening for years! 2) Vengeful: Check bottom of bags. I tried repeatedly to explain to two cooks how I wanted my food steamed, and when I got home, I saw that a large hole was at the bottom of the bag, causing the melted butter to seep out into the container and carry bag. They're pretty efficient during this time. They have a ticketing system that's always been going now of course you take your ticket and wait outside. It can get really crowded and there are Uber Eats and Grubhub order coming in, you can wait as long as an hour. Be prepared. Grab your pan, fill it up, pay and choose your fighter! I did steamed, fried and grilled. Steamed= I don't think veggies need to be steamed as long as the fish and shrimp. Definitely tasty esp. since you can butter and season to your preference yet the veggies get too soggy. I'll make mine separate next time. Fried= Good texture however the batter is kinda bland. I take it ppl use tartar, hot sauce, lemon juice, ketchup but what about those of us that like it straight up? I like my batter to have a lil kick and spice. Grilled= Now this works! I had the opportunity of visiting this market. I did not know what to expect because I was looking for a restaurant but to my surprise it was a seafood takeout and market. I was shocked to see the process, since it was my first time visiting. If the people wanted steamed seafood they would go and select what their meats, take it to the counter and they would prepare based on your request for fresh steamed food with vegetables. On the other side, was the basic fried seafood. The prices were very affordable for the fried seafood! Looking at the prices for the steam food it was a bit pricey, but I was told that the steamed was good. I tried a seafood combo and it was ok, not the best that I have had. If you were to rank it Ina scale from 1-5, being 5 is the best I would say 3. Now brace yourself when you come in and be ready to walk in a lot of water because all of the seafood around you is encased in ice which is dripping all over the floor and they have benches for you to sit. Sanitation was my biggest scare, I want to see people in gloves and changing gloves . I was almost ready to walk out of there with that issue alone. Basically, you pick up what you want, add the veggies packed in little bags, bring it to the counter, they will wait it and charge you. This place is too poppin'! I gave it 4 stars because they are super pricey and because they close way too early (around 6 or 7pm) but other than that it's worth it. Quality fresh fish and veggies, made to be steamed. They have other options available like fish sandwiches, but if you go, you definitely want to grab an empty bucket and fill it up with your choice of fish and sides so they can season and steam it for you. I been there a few times and my advice is bypass the counter and go and pick out fresh fish of your choice.. then select the veggies (onions and broccoli).. then you tell them you want it steamed... they will give it the counter, tell them add old bay seasoning if they don't and they will steam it for you...takes approx 25+ minutes and when its done, they will pour melted butter (if you wish) over your dish and wrap it up!! I can say that it was one of the best porgies I ever had... Note: the only time I ordered fried fish at the counter was when I purchased a whiting sandwich. It comes with 2-3 pieces on white/wheat bread. And don't forget the tartar and a dash of salt and pepper..hot sauce if you like a kick!! But really, something about how they fried the fish made it seem heavier than necessary, and although I generally love fish and chips, this was not an entirely enjoyable experience for me.
