I bought a Groupon because my condo desperately needed a cleaning. The cleaning was okay, but I probably won't use them again. Scheduled a day and time about 2 weeks in advance. Though I knew I would be working from home I asked them to contact me 20 minutes before they would be arriving. We scheduled a 9-11 am arrival time. They called at 8:35 and indicated they would arrive in 20 minutes. I went downstairs as my building requires me to let them in, plus needed to show them where to park. I went downstairs at 8:55 and they weren't there. In fact I waited downstairs until 9:30 and called the number they called me from and it went right to voicemail. Ok, left them a message that I was going back upstairs and to call when they were closer. I found out they were in traffic due to construction. I think they should have called to tell me that. It was a workday for me! Anyway they arrived and hardly spoke English and I don't speak much Spanish. Recommend to the company that they send someone who at least has some basic knowledge of the English language so its not hard to explain things to them. Trying to tell them where to park was like pulling teeth. I knew what to expect as after I purchased the Groupon I went to their website. i could see that they upcharged for many things. Ok, well, I opted not to get any of the extras as all i really needed was some vacuuming, dusting, and basic cleaning. The cleaning part was the only reason for the 2 stars as they actually did a pretty good job there. But one of the ladies, her phone kept ringing and she'd pick it up and go into another room and talk on the phone. This happened multiple times and frankly I was getting sick of it since she was there to clean and I was trying to work. One call, okay, maybe two if it was an emergency, but more than that is just ridiculous. Again, send someone who has at least a basic grasp on the English language. Then speaking Spanish loudly on face time. Disrupting my home. The worst customer service. I was pointing things out and one cleaner said "lady I have more houses to go to. I cleaned it already!" Was her response after I showed I could get everything spotted up myself with a Lysol wipe. They laughed in my face and said bye. After slamming my door! They claim to have left their Jacket and was banging on my door. Then called the police because of their carelessness. There is no such items here. Theor website says the following and I don't have any liability to your employers either. They need to vacate the premises. Im sorry for those of you who feel you didnt get 5 star service because i feel like i got more than that. I have a 3 bedroom 2300 sqft town house and it was on desperate need of a clean up. When we got back to the house i was more than amazed with the transformation. The attention to detail was definitely noticed and appreciated thank you so much. Our beds were made our sheets were washed i think i left a few dishes in the sink which was washed as well. Trash was emptied everywhere. It was absolutley amazing. I noticed some people said they had problems with living social or groupon deals, you just have to follow the very easy directions and there is no problem i felt like everything was clear and simple. Unacceptable service. Will not rebook! I contacted Brite Maids as a result of seeing a deal for them on Groupon. I spoke and booked with them directly because I was in need of a short notice appointment. I would give the booking part of the process 5 stars because it was simple, they fit me in the next day, and the gentleman I spoke with was helpful. This is the ONLY part of the experience that would get 5 stars from me! I did have to pay a higher rate than Groupon though because it was for next day service, but they still gave me a "discount" and the cost was still reasonable. Ok, day of...my appointment window was scheduled between 11am and 2pm. I coordinated working from home so I could be home when the cleaners came. 11am passes, 12pm passes, 1pm passes, 2pm passes...I received no phone call at any point as the window of my appointment got smaller. At 2:15pm I contacted Brite Maids and was transferred to the Manager of the cleaners. She proceeded to tell me that they were significantly behind due to their earlier appointments (ah, ya think?!). She said she could still send cleaners, but it may take another hour. I told her that I still wanted them to come because 1) I already paid for next-day service (and did not want 2, 3, or 4-day service :( and 2) I booked the service because I wanted my place nice and pretty before family came in town. She said she would send the cleaners and offer me interior oven cleaning to compensate for their delay. This was all after she proceeded to ask me AT LEAST FIVE times if I wanted her to send the cleaners and if I would let them in. Every time she asked I got more and more annoyed, because my first response should have been sufficient, but she kept asking the same question over and over. The cleaners did not show until about 345p and were in and out in less than an hour. For the most part I was satisfied with the service, however, I had to put a lot of things back in their place. This is a little annoying to me, because when I pay for cleaning services, I really expect attention to details from the cleaners, but maybe that's not everyone's level of quality. So you may ask why the "one star"...well that's because of my experience after the cleaners left. I opened the oven to find white residue left behind from their cleaning (see attached pictures). I was outraged! I contacted the company who told me the only way to make a complaint was via email. I did so, and no response for days. I followed up again and they said they offered me complimentary oven cleaning already, but could offer me 45% off my next service. I told them I would not be booking again because of my experience and that I would like a refund. I even sent them pictures of the state my oven was left in. They proceeded to tell me that based on the cleaners' report, services were provided as expected and that it was "challenging" cleaning my unit because they claimed it had not ever been professionally cleaned and the cleaners did the best they could given the state of my unit. Can you believe this?! I was furious. I have been in my apartment for a little over a year and have gotten professionally cleaning done at least every two months. In between those times, I personally clean my apartment thoroughly. Additionally, as a service at my apartment, we have a concierge service who "tidies up" our apartments and they always say how clean my home is. I couldn't believe how unprofessional and completely inaccurate Brite Maids was about my apartment. If it was such a challenge to clean my apartment, then why were the cleaners in and out in less than an hour?! I expressed my disappointment and fury with Brite Maids once again, and they never responded. Terrible, but lesson learned! I like to give praise where it is due and I also like to share not so great experiences when they occur, too. I purchased a Groupon for a cleaning service from Brite Maids in late 2012 and had a pretty good experience with the company; the cleaning service was better than some that I have utilized in DC and I decided to continue using them on a biweekly basis. I prepaid to have my one bedroom apartment cleaned six times and after the second cleaning, I decided to cancel the service. I found that a kitchen item was missing and felt like they were not cleaning my apartment very well (I would find dust on furniture, the kitchen and bathroom floors did not look clean as well as the bathtub). I reached out to Esteban Deleon who apologized and assured me he would give me a refund for my unused sessions. Three months later, several phone calls and many emails exchanged, and I received half of the refund that was promised to me. I am still trying to collect the other half but all I get is lip service and the company tells me that they are mailing me a check that never comes. Oh, and it took me over a month to get my keys back from the company. I would have gladly given this company a decent to good review for their cleaning service had their customer service not horrible. This business qualifies for "ZERO" stars. I have used this company in the past with few issues (quality is inconsistent); however, my service date on 03/22/21 will stand out as my worst experience. The cleaning quality was actually very good this time but the problem came with the billing. I paid in advance of my appointment but eight days later I received an additional invoice for over $100 for "overwhelming property cleaning fee". At no point during the cleaning, or immediately after the cleaning, was this mentioned. There was no discussion on what qualifies or warrants for these charges to be applicable! I am very disappointed about the complete lack of communication and delayed billing. I will NEVER use or recommend their services again. Caveat emptor. read more

I like the idea of supporting a woman owned local business. However, I was disappointed with our most recent service. The shower head in our bathroom wasn't even attempted to be cleaned and the tub overall was less than satisfactory. We paid extra for the carpets to be shampooed but the carpet still had stains on it after and there were dust and bugs around the baseboards. I reached out to the company with photos but they said because I responded more than 24 hours after the cleaning they couldn't do anything. (The reason I didn't reach out sooner was because I was out of town when the cleaning was done. I scheduled it that way intentionally to allow time for the carpets to dry). DO NOT USE!! I got a groupon and was pleased at the cleaning job on my small apartment, so I used them several more times. BUT BE ALARMED, this company is DISHONEST. I had them clean a week ago and I received an email afterward saying my key was placed under the mat. When I got home, no key (and I live in a very safe building). I luckily was able to get in with my spare. I called and called but no response. I got my locks changed bc honestly I was afraid (the company also had my building access code). Then, I find the key in the apartment. It had fallen in a crevice during the cleaning. I called the company again and was told to send an email. The email basically said "oh they can't remember where they left the key but it's not our fault. Thanks for being a valued customer!" Mistakes happen, but the fact that they lied about it, and caused an unnecessary expense is what made it a horrible experience. I just wish I had read more reviews before using them. Pros: Scheduling, cleaners arrived ON-TIME and were friendly. That's pretty much where it ends. Cons: Everything else. Two ladies were here for about 1 1/2hrs and did a really basic, mediocre job on my 3br/3b townhome, which honestly wasn't bad to begin with. The floors and carpet were still visibly dirty in many areas, incomplete wipe down of dressers and bathroom mirrors...I could go on. Oh, and an overwhelming BLEACH smell. Plus you have to provide them with paper towels, trash bags and vacuum cleaner. I guess the service was worth what I paid on Groupon, but I would not use them or recommend them otherwise. read more

I have received cleaning services in the past from Brite maid and the service was OKAY enough for me to give the a second try. The issue wasn't the lacklustre service, it's the GHETTO CUSTOMER SERVICE. The person responding to the emails is very rude and didn't attempt to find a solution to my problem at all. Wouldn't reccomend bc you will be left with dusty surfaces and a bad taste in your mouth from the classless people the have "assisting". Offering unsolicited "advice" instead of a solution will be their demise. Find some class, customer service skills and a hobby. They sent one woman to do the work a respectable service would send three to do. She was here for two hours and got less than half our place done. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this when she was picked up and our main living area floors weren't even swept and the supervisor got achy and rude. I emailed management who defended themselves with misinformation and straight-up lies. They said I requested no bleach in the bathroom (when I specifically asked for bleach that wasn't used). They also claimed that I'm fluent in Spanish and was in constant communication with her (just WOW!). After that response, I realized that I was not dealing with reasonable people. I really wasn't expecting much, either. We don't have pets and our place is tidy. I just wanted clean floors and a cleaned bathroom. I saw these reviews before this voucher was given to me but didn't think I had much to lose -- but it's been a waste of my time. I didn't read the reviews before I purchased the Living Social voucher. However, I wanted to try a cleaning service for a while now and I am happy I did. When I first was scheduled they were supposed to show up on a Tuesday between 1 and 4 pm. No one came and no one called. I emailed the company and asked what happened and the cleaners were in a car accident on the way to my house. And when they did show up it was an hour later and they couldn't get in my building. At first I was upset but I had already spent the money and I couldn't get it back because apparently Living Social doesn't give refunds. :-/ So, I waited a while and I decided to reschedule. At first I was glad that I waited it out and this review was going to totally be a 4 star review until I actually started living in my home. Upon entering things looked great. But then I was looking for a spoon and I realized that they spoons decided they no longer liked living where they had been and up and moved to another part of my kitchen. And my room was crazy. It looked great until I opened my closet and saw that they just threw everything in my closet. I do mean everything. When I came home I found things in my dishwasher that shouldn't be in a dishwasher and I found things in my drawers that shouldn't be in drawers. I am still searching for a shoe; I have found only one of them. Overall, I don't feel like anything was stolen, but the lack of care they had for items in my home was a little off-putting. The did a good job vacuuming the floor and washing the tub, but everything else was kind of up in the air. I am still looking for stuff that that "organized" and "put away". They were difficult to schedule, I had to call three times after speaking to someone on the phone, they asked me to email them with the details. Then when they replied they requested more information about my house, they still didn't commit to a date and time until I emailed them a third time! Go with these guys if you like your service staff to verbally abuse you and physically assault you with a mop! The Brite Maid cleaners lacked professionalism to an extent I have never before seen. I noticed that the staff had missed a few things in my cleaning, and asked them to come back to address them. The lady tried to use my body wash to clean the bathtub because she didn't bring her solvents back with her. Then, when she was mopping, she deliberately kept pushing her mop into where I was standing so my feet were getting mopped up too. I've been using Brite Maid for several years now! They consistently show up in the afternoon on the day scheduled, and are flexible with me if I need to change the date. I have a 3 story house and if 1 person comes - she spends 3.5-4 hours cleaning, and if 3 people come they can usually finish in an hour with one tackling each floor. All of the cleaners work quickly, thoroughly, and I've never had a problem with any of the workers. I find Brite Maid Services to be very trustworthy and reliable -and I think those are 2 important factors when selecting a cleaning service. read more

Wow. Where do I start? Everyone has a bad day, but this experience seems like the norm. Bought a Groupon. The company sent an email at 6:something a.m., expressing an urgent response to ensure that my home was cleaned that day. I responded, and was informed that the cleaners would come between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. They never came. I called four times, and received four different explanations. They were still "on their way" well after 6:00 p.m. I cancelled and requested a refund. The supervisor informed me that I would need to contact Groupon for reimbursement. I did. Groupon informed me that the company tagged service as fulfilled. Long sigh. It took a formal statement and complaint submission to Groupon for reimbursement seven days later. I still need a cleaner. I got a groupon for $100 or 2 hours of cleaning and they refused to do it because they will ONLY do a more expensive move out deep clean if your furniture isnt present- which is a forced upsell tactic. The LONG list of cleaning they require you to do for a "move out" clean is way beyond what I need and I asked for only a basic cleaning of bath, kitchen and floors which is an hour of cleaning max. Straight to point, my experience with Brite-Maid was secured through a Groupon discounted promotion. My house for sure needed cleaning and I hadn't only procrastinated I had neglected to clean things beyond the obvious. Sylvia and Oralia of Brite-Maid arrived promptly and were all business NON STOP during the allotted time I paid for. Brite-Maid was thorough, diligent and meticulous. Their work rejuvenated and brightened my home. The cliche' "You Get What You Pay For" did not apply, the service should have cost more. It's an incredible deal. Finally, I have to do more, let me be totally transparent the existing dark spots along the tile in the master bathroom was embedded mold and not dirt. I have to strip the caulking and apply new caulk and that was absolutely beyond the services of Brite-Maid. But they exposed it. Sometimes we have to face realities and not expectations. Ouch! That said, I will be calling on Bite-Maid monthly and hopefully have Sylvia and Oralia return and conduct the Magic again. read more

I'm so glad we did! The two women did a fantastic job cleaning our townhouse. Everything is clean and sparkly. I could cry tears of joy. :) The one only downside was that when they called, they said they were 20-25 minutes away and didn't show up for an hour. Not a huge deal by any means. Bought the $50 Groupon. I live in a newish apartment that's about 650 square feet. They did a FANTASTIC job! Worked with my concierge to get in and out. Cleaned everywhere and made my place feel like a hotel when I got home, including arranging the paper towels on the roll in a fancy way. They dusted all my picture frames, cleaned the whole toilet bowl included the exterior and the base, and all the baseboards. Floors have never been this clean. I am convinced the bad reviews on here are from cheap skates who want to only pay $50 but live in large, deeply filthy homes. It was easy to schedule, especially if you're fast at responding to email. If you have a small or medium sized apartment and you aren't a hoarder don't hesitate to book them! read more

DO NOT USE BRITE MAID!!! First off, there was some confusion with the scheduling my appointment. Thus, when the two women arrived for my appointment around 1:05pm, I was on my way out for a quick airport run. I expected to see the women when I got back from the airport but, upon checking in on my home surveillance system on my cell phone, I realized that they had already left around 1:50pm, which put them in the house for a total of only about 40 minutes. I called BriteMaid when I got the chance later to express my concern and to make sure that the women knew to clean the entire house and not just the one bedroom and one bathroom and the man I spoke with put me on hold, contacted the girls and told then told me that they had left about ten minutes ago, which would have been around 2:20pm. I knew that was a lie but the gentlemen also made a point to inform me that the service is based on space (i.e. one bedroom, one bathroom house) and not time, (i.e. 60 minutes or 90 minutes of cleaning). I agreed and hung up, deciding that I would not worry about how long the women had spent cleaning, just as long as they had done a good job. Unfortunately, they had not. When I got home, I was appalled and furious at what a terrible job they had done. I spent almost two hours, time away from my newly arrived guests, cleaning up what should have been clean. Basic things! It's like the women hadn't even tried. I keep a fairly clean house and so I feel the women figured they could save a ton of time and get a head start on the next appointment by doing what was even less than a half-assed job. I basically paid for them to wash a pot, make my bed and to vacuum the carpet on the main level. The carpet closest to the door of the bedroom was vacuumed but the less visible carpet on the other side of the bed had not been vacuumed and neither had the carpet in the bedroom closet. The oven range and the front of the microwave had not been touched and still had grease splatters and leftover food all over them. The dresser in my bedroom, which had remnants from a fragrance sachet bursting and spilling what looks like finely milled dirt was still all over my dresser. There was still toothpaste splatter on the bathroom faucets, as well as in the sink. There was still hair and tiny chunks of soap in the shower drain, and the shower floor itself looked just like it did before the cleaning crew arrived. It's like they didn't even try. Also, the toilet bowl still had the slight ring of mildew around it and the bed was poorly made. I have photos attached of all of the aforementioned, however, I did not manage to get any photos of the mirrors that still had toothpaste splatter and hair products on them, as well as the dust and grime all over the knick knacks around the house, on the blinds and on the baseboards. I reached out to them two weeks ago and, at first, they said they would speak with the cleaning staff that was assigned to me to get their version of the story (insert eye roll here) and get back to me the same day. I have not heard back from them since and, unfortunately, Groupon will not do anything. read more

Do not use! The customer service was good about scheduling but the cleaning was not good at all. They only sent 2 people for 3 bedroom 3 bathroom and only stayed an hour and a half. When they left the floor was dirty in the kitchen, the bathtub has brown streaks and the shower would not drain. I emailed to complain and they said they would get right back to me. I have not heard back for 2 weeks. Horrible. And don't listen to them that they did not service me. I do live in CA but i purchased for my mom in DC. Unfortunately, my mother also did not have a thorough cleaning and it did not meet expectations; a few simple items: the lady neglected to clean window sills, large coffee table (located in the middle of the room), shelves, and the floors were sticky throughout her house. I'll admit, they never came to my home so I can't judge their cleaning services. But I can judge their availability. Their schedule is RIGID. Expect an email back stating they will be in your area Tuesday at 9am and Friday at 2pm only. I serve people everyday and accommodate scheduling needs when possible, especially if it is something that can be worked out in advance, so I find it odd that it's been 2 months and I still can't get an appointment. Finally, I bit the bullet and took time off of work for them to come clean my home today to accommodate their rigidity and they just cancelled on me for an inch of snow. Fine, maybe they live in unsafe areas or maybe school was cancelled and their kids are home from school and they can't come in, and that's fine, I get that. But then the first thing they do is offer me a time slot on Saturday that costs extra money and is also beyond the time I would need them for (I have a guest coming from out of town). Listen, there are many bad reviews here for Brite Maid Services, but read this one first. I'm going to try to be as objective as possible, but I apologize if my frustration/anger come through. Before I even begin, for those who need the TL;DR summary - I am currently out $104 (originally $208) after having to pay an emergency locksmith to open my English basement apartment because Brite Maid's cleaning crew locked me out. Brite Maid won't reimburse me in full, and have provided inaccurate/erroneous assumptions as justification for this decision. Full story/details below. -- I am currently out $104 (originally $208) after having to pay a locksmith to open my English basement apartment because Brite Maid's cleaning crew locked me out. About a month and a half ago, after my second cleaning, my girlfriend came to my place after her night shift as a nurse to find that she could not get in. I had to leave work early to go help her because she lives in Baltimore and had nowhere to go, and she couldn't drive another hour back there having had very little sleep. I get to the door and eventually figure out that the cleaning crew somehow dropped my wooden blinds on the inside door handle, causing the outside handle to be immobile and unable to open the door. By the time we figured out the situation, it was after COB and the Brite Maid office was closed. I ended up calling an emergency locksmith to come out and open the door (as I live in an English basement and it is the only point of entrance). This whole process took about 3 hours of our evening (from when my girlfriend called me to when we were let in) and $208 of my money. The next day, after some time-consuming back and forth via email (Brite Maid will not speak with you over the phone), they asked me to submit information (pictures, locksmith invoice, etc.) so they could file an insurance claim for my reimbursement. I was told that once the claim was filed, it would be max 10 business days for the insurance company to cut the check and then for Brite Maid to send it. After 10 business days, I heard nothing. I emailed Brite Maid again, who said that the check was released (according to their insurance) and I'd be receiving it via USPS with Signature Confirmation soon. On June 14, a month after the incident, I got the USPS card saying I missed the delivery of the check; since it was for delivery with Signature Confirmation, I could choose to have it delivered at another time in the future, or go pick it up at the post office. I chose post office, because I wanted my check ASAP. After going out of my way to get the check (another hour+ of my time), I open it to find an incomprehensible letter, and a check (in the letter head of Brite Maid, not an insurance company, which raises even more questions) for half the amount of my reimbursement. I went to deposit the check immediately at an ATM, so it would hit my bank account ASAP; of course, I get to the ATM, and it wouldn't accept the check, as the check was difficult to read because it was so poorly printed. I ended up doing a mobile deposit (which takes more time for the money to hit your account), but that eventually was processed the next day. After ensuring the check was deposited, I emailed Brite Maid politely, but firmly, requesting full reimbursement and a postponement of any future service (they had the audacity to schedule another cleaning for that day, June 15). After prodding them 3 times, they finally responded 8 days later, on June 23, with outrageous and inaccurate assumptions to justify why they only provided half of the reimbursement, such as there is a "problem with my key hole" (this makes no sense in regards to the issue, and is not true), and that I accused them of intentionally placing the blinds on the door handle (which I didn't, I even said it was done accidentally in my initial email) and that the locksmith invoice didn't say anything about the cleaning staff intentionally placing the blinds on the door handle (why would a locksmith invoice mention anything about the cleaning staff?!). Anyway, I called them this afternoon and left a message, and I emailed them demanding to speak with their "Senior Management". I do not expect to hear back from them, but will be sure to update this review if I do. Please use this anecdote as a warning - I have found these people to be completely unprofessional and unorganized, and from my experience, they care very little about their customers.
