It might help if you have something specific you want them to be sure to clean/focus on to tell them exactly what it is when you schedule your appointment, because I did that and they cleaned those areas VERY WELL! They did an excellent job! They were also punctual and professional, they didn't sit around wasting time on their phone or chatting with each other the whole time unlike some people I've had clean at other times. Yeah, I really should have checked yelp first. They were an hour late and the place was barely cleaner after they left. Dust on the window sills, dirty blinds, dirty ceiling fan, left the sink dirty, didn't touch the kitchen cabinets, etc. 3 people cleaned an empty 500 Sq ft apartment for an hour, but I'm not sure what they actually did other than use a lot of bleach on something. We had one incident with scheduling that was fixed immediately, and we were given a free (much needed) oven cleaning. Before purchasing a voucher to use this service I looked at Angie's List and saw that they had an A average rating. I should have looked at Yelp and other rating services to see that many people have been displeased, as was I. Two woman came on time, and we walked through the house as I pointed out various things. One woman gave the other woman directions in Spanish and then left. The cleaner started upstairs with bedrooms and baths. After my first visit to see how it was going, I knew that I would have to follow her closely through the house as she was not doing many of the things listed on their website as part of the service. I should have known when they arrived without any kind of sweeper or mop for the tile and hardwood floors armed only with an old vacuum cleaner. I provided supplies for the floors, counter tops, stainless steel, etc. or she would have used only dish washing detergent! I had to tell her to do switch plates, baseboards, outsides of cabinets, and more. She had no step stool and did not use ours, so nothing above eye level was done. I am used to having a meticulous job done with the house shining and smelling good. We do a good job of keeping the house clean so were looking for a monthly service for deep cleaning - a thorough job on the floors, baseboards, blinds, etc. This did not happen. The other woman returned at a time she thought the cleaner should be done, but she wasn't. She pitched in to help finish the job but was even worse! I told her how the hardwood floors needed to be done; she left left it splotchy and streaked and I redid them as I did with several other things. She broke one of my mops and didn't offer to deduct the cost. I didn't realize until they were gone that the cleaner must have used furniture polish of the stairs to the second floor because they were dangerously slippery and I had to go over them to prevent an accident. If I could give 0 stars I would. I bought a Living Social voucher for the Alexandria, VA area. It was very difficult to schedule an appointment because the woman who does the scheduling did not respond to my numerous emails. We finally coordinated a date and time that was about 30 days out. The appointment was for 8:30 AM. By 11:00 AM no one had shown up for the appointment. I called Silvia and she said she would not be able to arrive until about Noon. I told her I had an appointment and had to leave my house. She said that if I was "more flexible" they could work out something with me. At that point I asked her about obtaining a refund. She said there was nothing she could do and advised I call the main number. The next business day I called the number listed on the website and received Sylvia's cell phone number. She reiterated there is nothing she can do and said her boss will call me. I resolved the issue through Living Social and they issued a refund but I would not recommend anyone hiring this company because of their lack of professionalism and poor customer service. read more

And when I asked to keep the appointment they said they already sent cleaners to another client. So I am out $90 and no service provided. I will let everyone in my community and city council know that they should never do business with Brite Maids. I was not told of the policy when I called in the morning to cancel. And when I did attempt to ask for the service, I was told the cleaners were on their way to another client. Which means you already had another appointment scheduled during the time you scheduled me. Therefore, you should allow me to use the voucher for another time. That sucks that other people seemed to have bad experiences especially with scheduling, but my experience was excellent. Just call them on the phone and they will set everything up for you. Gonna start off by saying I would NOT recommend them. Here's my experience. Booked move out services (1bed/1ba) which was fairly cheap so I guess I shouldn't have expected much. The arrival time was supposed to be 9am-11am. Didn't get a call or anything up until 10:30am. I had to call them to get a time. They said would be there by 11:15am due to traffic. Ok fine , I understand things happen. Supervisor calls at 10:48am to say she will be there in 20min. 11:41am...nothing. When I called, this lady had the balls to tell me oh I called you 20min ago. Umm no. Cell phones have time stamps now so I know for a FACT it was almost 1 hour. Then she goes to say 'oh I can't talk, I'm driving' and just plain rude. Word of advice, get a watch lady! The team showed up at 12:40pm. Got done in 45min max. Of course the work was sub par. They didn't wait for me to finish checking before just bolting out the door. My coat closet was still dirty and hadn't been swept or mopped. This company seems to be run by amateurs and I would definitely advise anyone looking for their services to stay away!! read more

Terrible experience with management! The team arrived 4 hours late due to road and parking delays 2 days before Inauguration. While a delay can happen, other than a "Our teams may be a little behind today due to parking/road delays" at no point following my 11-2 window (or during) did anyone reach out to tell me they were four hours behind. Forget this company. They don't show up when expected. Their booking procedure is horrible. I sat at home for 3 hours waiting for them and then when they didn't show up they claimed that I never confirmed that it wasn't a move in/out cleaning. But I did and they just didn't read my email. If you didn't think I responded to that question, why not just send me a follow up email like "hey, we we've been emailing about this date but we didn't see your confirmation." Please save yourself the headache and waste of money. I scheduled an appointment through their laborious email scheduling process. Ended up with a window from 11am to 2pm..after calling 3 times when no one showed by 2pm..each time I was told that someone would be there in 40 minutes..then another 40 minutes. The cleaners came at exactly 4:18pm! I wasted my entire day sitting at home waiting for this. There was absolutely no apology when the cleaners arrived. My last hope was that they would at least do an awesome job. Not even close. The floors in my little one bedroom apartment still look grimy. I don't have a filthy apartment by any means but after living here for two years it could use a sprucing up. I could have done a better job with my Swiffer wetjet. The list of services included in the deal says they will "remove any all cobwebs," they never ONCE pulled out a duster. There absolutely no dusting done AT ALL. They services said they do the interior and exterior of microwaves. Please look at my pictures. My living room glass table still has a visible sticky spot from juice spilled earlier in the morning. They merely wipe over things, don't expect any type of elbow grease. They move items out of place when they clean so you have to go back and rearrange your apartment. *NEGATIVE STARS* Do yourself a favor and save your money, this place is terrible!!!! I thought I would take a chance on Brite Maids even though there were mixed reviews, and bought the 92$ voucher. (I also paid $20 extra for them to clean my laundry room and child's play room.) I figured you can't please everyone all the time. I have to say, I should have made more time to do it myself and saved the $112 or went with someone else entirely. Hardly anything was done. Only 2 of my 5 rugs were vacuumed, almost nothing was dusted; tops of shelves, TV's, fan blades, lamps, electronics, etc. if it was, only around items without them being moved, or just the fronts of lower bookshelves. Mirrors and glass doors were not wiped. One tub was not cleaned AT ALL. Nothing was vacuumed under (there were dust bunnies) the beds, desk, butcher block, and other raised furniture, (even a wheeled cart in the bathroom!). I don't think the kitchen floor was mopped at all. I specifically asked for my leather couch to be wiped with a spray cleaner I provided, and it wasn't. Instead, I think they used it on my dining table which made the floor around it VERY slick. My wood floors were not mopped (when I tried to get the slick stuff off, the towel was dirty.) The things they did clean around were completely re-arranged, but it made it easy to tell what they missed, if it wasn't so. This was a big let down, and I warn other working people who may not have the time to do their own house, don't use Brite maids, if you do, you will be broke AND still have a dirty house. read more

Terrible service. Don't use this company. They do the bare minimum and leave the toilet unclean, don't even clean floors. They will make beds and fold couch throws and move your stuff around a bit but will not dust, clean countertops or floors. Very poor work. I kept reporting poor service and would get responses that they would do better but it just got worse. Total rip-off. I asked them repeatedly to clean the floors and my requests went ignored each and every time. I give up on them finally. read more

I have little kids and a cat and we live in woods, and the cleaning teams were on time and had super-positive attitudes as they erased the mud, fur, and debris from my house. They are punctual (always showing up in the window promised), it's usually been 3 ladies, so they are in and out in one hour (I only have a 1bd). I generally go over a list of what i want done so that there is no confusion. And the booking services are quick to respond and can usually book me within the week I need. Only complaint is that they don't service DC on Mondays and Tuesdays and those are the days I usually need the apt. cleaned. (Found them through groupon). read more

I purchased a Groupon deal. They came out, cleaned my apartment and left. Did a decent job cleaning but nothing extraordinary. I do wish I had provided them with an alternative hardwood floor cleaner; they used Fabuloso to clean my hardwood floors. The floors didn't dull or loose their luster but still, it wasn't actual floor cleaner. They did a great job, just only the basics. For example, they didn't dust baseboards or window seals. But they did vacuum my furniture. I would hire them again but would spend more time discussing with them specific things to address. read more

I bought a Living Social deal for Brite Maids. I emailed them on July 17 regarding the following week and received an immediate response. They said they would have appointments available in my area the following week but they needed more information. I immediately responded, answering all of their questions including that I would like the cleaning done by the 26th. Then I did not hear anything for a long time. On the 23rd, I emailed again and asked what the status of my appointment was. No response. On the 25th, I read all of the Yelp reviews and thought that I would probably have to haggle with Living Social to get my money back. I called and got through to Roberto. He was very apologetic and said that their database had crashed and they were in the process of emailing everyone. Roberto was very professional and emailed me right away like he said he would. He scheduled me for the morning of the next day and provided me with a 9 a.m. - Noon window. He said I would receive a call 20-25 minutes before their arrival. I did not receive a warning call but the entire team was on my building's doorstep at 9:06 a.m. There was an older woman and a group of 3 or 4 women. She said she had the whole team with her because they were starting at my place and then heading into DC. As soon as I let them in, the women got to work and the older woman was either giving them orders or talking on a headset to somebody on the phone. I left because I know I don't like people around when I clean. This is my first time using a service so I asked the older woman how long I should stay out and she said it wouldn't take more than an hour to clean my 2BR, 1 Bath apartment since the whole team was there. I returned a little after 10 and they were gone. The other posters are right, this is not the best cleaning in the world. It's enough that I have a little time to focus on other jobs like spot-cleaning the carpet and washing the slip covers. I was pleasantly surprised that they did the dishes (I didn't expect that) but they definitely vacuum their way out. They pile up things on the floor to vacuum and then do not return to put things back. I would not pay full price for this service. They are not a huge company, and scheduling of services often has to occur within a window of time rather than on the dot--that said, they have professionally cleaned my 4 story home for over ten years, and I have never had a complaint, and they have always worked well with me to ensure that certain details were attended to--most importantly, those details that refer to ensuring that my two dogs are safely in our mudroom before they begin cleaning. If something was not done quite to my satisfaction, it was always fixed. These are very nice people, very polite, very sincere, and very very hard working. Brite Maid has been to my place twice now, and both times they've been outstanding. I'll freely confess that my apartment can get pretty sty-like between cleanings. I have one cat, plus two resident foster cats. The foster cats do not have the best litterbox manners. I try to stay on top of it, but after a month or so, I really need a professional to come in and really clean the floors, and Brite Maid does a great job of it. Sylvia is very pleasant to deal with, and scheduling is easy. Also, they are way more reasonable than a lot of other services that I've used in the past. As several people here have said, I wish I could give them 0 stars. They showed up 1 1/2 hours late to our morning appointment. We had scheduled them to arrive between 8:45 and 9:30 a.m., and they didn't arrive until 10:30. I called the main office to say that I had to go to work and I wanted to reschedule, but the person I spoke with (Roberto) was very pushy and said that the cleaning crew had told him that there was traffic but they were on their way, and that they were coming from an earlier appointment in Woodbridge. This was annoying because they either LIED and did not have an appointment before ours, or they LIED when they told us the 8:45 appointment was the first one in the morning. Roberto told me he would speak with the cleaners and call me back. 10 minutes later he called my husband to say that the cleaners were knocking on our door and no one was answering. I told my husband that no one was knocking and no one was outside our door. I then called Roberto to see why there was confusion and he said that he called my husband because he tried to call me and couldn't reach me. Again, he LIED because we never even gave him my phone number and no one called me. He then called back to tell me the cleaners had been knocking on the wrong apartment door and apologized. At this point I'm not sure if he was again LYING to buy the cleaning staff some more time to get to our apartment. When they finally showed up they were not very warm or friendly. They did an OK job cleaning, but did not even do as good of a job as I do myself. The point of hiring professionals was that I wanted someone to do a better job than what I can do. The worst part is that they were only there cleaning for about FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. One of the cleaners even asked me if they towed cars near my building because she had left her hazard lights on and just left the car outside the building. This indicates to me that she had no intention of spending a significant amount of time cleaning my apartment. I guess it is my own fault for trusting LivingSocial and not yelping this company. But I have learned my lesson and will never purchase any services through LivingSocial again, and I will ALWAYS yelp before hiring anyone for any service. read more

HORRIBLE COMPANY! I also purchased a Living Social Deal with this company, and seriously wish I hadn't. I've gotten cleaning services through Living Social before with other companies and had great results. I should have checked for complaints first. I have a 900 sq. ft. house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (even though the deal allowed up to 2 bathrooms). Based on this, and my past experiences, I'm thinking they will have plenty of time to clean and I even left a nice tip as incentive. I had to go into the office that day and left my key in my mailbox. Huge mistake. I came home to find that they had done a completely inadequate job. It was clear that they only cleaned the most obvious surfaces. The outside of my microwave was not cleaned, they didn't vacuum under my coffee table, the dining room table was not cleaned (I lifted the runner and placemats and found dust), there was dust in the corners and behind picture frames on my entertainment center (they clearly didn't lift anything), cobwebs were left, and the mirrors and windows either had smudges on them, or weren't cleaned at all. I e-mailed the company 2 days later, because I had company in town and was busy. They told me I was outside of their 24-hour complaint policy, and gave a bunch of excuses for why things weren't up to par...supposedly dust from cleaning the floors must have settled on the entertainment center (right?!). They then offered me a free refrigerator cleaning with my next service. I was clear that I would never be using their company again, and requested that my tip be returned...after which there was radio silence. Save time, your money and a headache. SCAM ARTIST! I have never had such horrible things to say about any company. I like many people purchased a voucher from living social. It was not hard to get a date (probably because I work from home 2-3 days a week). They gave me a 3 hour window, which I later regreted. They came to my house at 1:50 and left at 2:37. I had stepped out of the house to run an errand and came back and they were finishing the foyer. As they were finishing i went in the kitchen and the floor was still sticky. There were bird seeds all over the floor (i own birds) The window sill was not cleaned. I asked her to finish cleaning the kitchen floor. She said she did and it was a lie!!! After they left i went in my bedroom and found dust on almost all the furniture!! The bathroom was not sweeped properly. I kept finding dust in the corners. They didnt vaccum properly. I found a dirty knife in the drawer. I dont even know what they did. I was lividi!! In that three hour window I could have cleaned my own house! I emailed her back and she didnt even apologized. This is the sloppiest cleaning service I've ever used (and I've used 4 of them in this area - two have been fantastic, one was fine, but Brite Maid actually made my house worse off). We saw a Groupon and I had seen their advertising before so decided to give them a try and never again, we ran running back to our other cleaning service that is a little expensive but excellent. Brite Maid cleaners left cleaning product goo all over various surfaces in our house. It's like they sprayed things and then didn't bother to wipe them down. They left dripping blue chemical goo on our white shower curtain, thick white soapy goo on a bathroom cabinet and even worse, more white goo on a painted ledge (thankfully, we discovered it a few hours after they left and wiped it off without it having damaged the paint). Then, while they left cleaning products gunked all over our things and barely cleaned in some areas, in other areas, they cleaned too hard - we have a brushed nickel kitchen faucet and it was weirdly polished almost shiny when we got back, which was annoying because we think they rubbed away some of the matte finish in their zeal. Also, our house usually takes 3 hours to clean with two cleaners, Brite Maid was here for 1.5 hours - which I wouldn't care about if not for the fact that they obviously barely cleaned. While the owner was very communicative over email when setting up the cleaning, when I emailed her after the cleaning with pictures of the sloppiness, she never responded but cashed my check nevertheless the next day. Edited to add: after posting my pictures and looking through other users' pictures, it looks like leaving white cleaning goo without wiping it off is a common experience! This is a terrible and corrupt service.They sent me and email to ask me everything I needed cleaning and for extra services I would be charged more and I accepted those costs for extra cleaning. Lot of information they requested and I responded almost immediately with a long list of details they requested. I purchased a Groupon for a general cleaning and they would not honor it stating the services I am requesting is not within the scope of the voucher purchased. I purchased a general cleaning for two bedrooms and two bathrooms because that is exactly what I have in my apartment and they say the type of cleaning I was expecting was beyond what I purchased. The told me to contact groupon to get a full refund and to also work with Brite Maid to request a more expensive purchase in a crooked way as if it was a plan to get more money from me by using they Groupon as a way to lure customers in and then cancel their order so they can book directly through their business at a substantially marked up price. *** UPDATE After two days of waiting for a response from my phone call I was called back by someone who claimed to be a customer service agent for Brite Maid Services. I explained how her company endangered my life by filling up our apartment with natural gas. We spoke on the phone for roughly and hour. She promised to send me a refund on my cleaning services, but because we bought the cleaning on groupon, she would only be able to refund me the portion that the company was paid. Instead, we agreed that she would send vouchers for future cleaning services in the mail. I waited for over two weeks for these vouchers to arrive and they have not. So I called again to check on the status. This time a man named Jonathan that had the title of "Supervisor of the Company" answered the phone. He told me that because we did not submit our complaint in writing, that there was nothing that the company could do for us. Mind you, I spoke with their employee at length about this problem and she did not once tell me that talking to her would not be sufficient.
