When I asked to be connected to the right department, I was told that person was "out of town." But the showroom person was able to cancel the order. Thankfully, this was a small purchase and not a critical part of my home remodeling project--but that's beside the point. Tip for Lighting Specialists in Utah: If you accept people's orders and money online, be prepared to process or respond to those orders within a couple of days--not 10 or more. It's not just bad service--it's irresponsible.

I hope I just had a rare situation this time My bedroom celing fan had an integral part go bad. I had no light, no fan, nothing. I identified the problem part and we sought a replacement at Lighting Specialists. They took our money and said the part would be in around two weeks. A little over two weeks later we call asking about the status of our replacement part. Turns out they just charged us and never placed the order. No part was on its way for over two weeks. They said they were sorry and would order the part for real this time. Said it would be a couple weeks. This is when I got a bit angry and explained I had no light in my bedroom and why, since this was your mistake you couldn't overnight the part. Another week and a half later the part came in. Went to go pick it up and they wanted to charge us again, saying we didn't pay the first time. Another mistake on thier part. Finally a month later we are up and going again. I may have to look elsewhere for my next purchase.

Brian sent a guy named Adam who was absolutely kind, knowledgeable and professional. he shaved one door, had me go to Lowe's at my expense and buy sanding various papers new locks and bonded. total costs around $100. i callec brian before going to lowes and reminded him he quoted me the price which included everything. he said he must have not taken into account items that were not on hand. Adam was already working on the door. I spoke to Brian about why I was paying for the materials, he said that he always makes clients pay for their own stuff. what? Brian had already taken my money prior to the job without knowing exactly what needed to be done. sour taste is my mouth. i called other places afterwards and they said i had been taken advantage of. the job shouldn't have cost $560 plus $100 to have me go shopping for materials they should have had on hand. only good outcome was Adam was kind sanded the door so it would close and allow me to secure my home. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. The comments Trevor left me were totally untrue. I spoke with Brian not Trevor so he knows nothing about the situation. the job was expressed with certainly that they would know what was needed to fix the door to make it close. Bonds, at $30 va Bonds, at $30, different sizes of sanding paper with dispenser to put sandpaper on to sand. I asked Brian directly if door knows were included and he assured me they were. I had to leave my home with a stranger while I rounded up the items needed for the job. Brian quoted me for a French door however only one door had to be sanded down. price still should be adjusted. let me make it clear, Adam was a good guy and my door doesn't stick. however the locks aren't that easy to lock and he tried his best to get the lock to go smoothly. I also didn't appreciate the phone message after Trevor read my review. it was rude, and expecting me to change my review at your request isn't going to happen. I'm expecting some adjustments on the price as was promised.

The initial process was different then I had seen before with me going over the scope of work with a project manager on the phone and me sending pictures of the rooms and spaces that would be remodeled. Different isn't bad their process worked very well. before the work the contractor Robert Mettlach made an appointment to complete a walk through. Robert showed up early which was a pleasant surprise as most companies get there when they want. We eventually signed after a price was given. The billing process was simple. And several people from the company checked in with me each week to ensure we were happy and things were going good. A date was set to begin the demo and the project. Robert Mettlach actually asked us what time he could start and was incredibly thoughtful of us the entire length of the process. His plan was always with us in mind in order to inconvenience us as little as he possibly could. when the time was set for the work to begin Robert was again early patiently waiting to come to the door. He was early everyday and worked incredibly hard. His communication was constant throughout each work day to ensure we knew what his work plan was for the day, and gave us constant updates. He was absolutely a joy and pleasure to work with. He came to work every day happy and with an incredibly positive outlook on the project. Once the demo was complete he started the the work, and again continued the great communication of his plan which absolutely revolved around us being as comfortable as possible. Again he always arrived early and worked incredibly hard everyday. when it comes to Roberts work, he absolutely is the best and most knowledgeable contractor we have ever worked with. The quality of his work was incredible. I have seen a ton of handymen, but Robert's work was more than that. Robert is a true craftsmen and everything was perfect. His knowledge of flooring, drywall, plumbing , electrical, tile work and overall construction was something I have never seen before. This job would have taken any other contractor twice as long to complete and the quality would not of been half as nice. Robert Mettlach is a true professiona. Cransten was so easy to deal with. I will definitely call them for our next remodel and will definitely request Robert. We actually miss seeing him everyday.

Granite Transformations caught my attention because they offer same day re-modeling services with no need for demolition. For countertops, one of the unique things they do is create a custom granite overlay that fits right over your existing countertops. That way there is no need to remove the existing countertops, so the remodel takes less time and there is a minimal amount of mess. The next work day I received a call back from Granite Transformations. The woman on the phone was very nice and helped me find a date that worked for my schedule. She told me the appointment would take about an hour. Fast forward to today, the date of my free in-home consultation. In summary, I'm very disappointed by how the consultation went. Alex, the sales representation from Granite Transformations, was extremely pushy and his attitude was off-putting. He was not willing to show me the presentation without my wife in the room, even after I told him that she wasn't interested in seeing it and that I already knew what she liked. To be honest, my wife doesn't like being sold on something and certainly doesn't like pushy salespeople.She wants to do some remodeling, but she trusts me to handle the details because I always consult with her before making the final decision. Alex explained that without my wife in the room I wouldn't be able to make a decision today and he said he wanted to close the sale today. Because I "knew" that there was no way I would find a contractor who would be able to not only start and finish in my needed time-frame, but also come in at, or under, the budget I needed to stay within. The first thing I needed to do was get bids for new counters. I knew some people who had used Granite Transformations here in California and loved the finished product, so I found this one in SLC and gave them a ring to give me a bid for my counters. At the same time I was also getting bids from other folks to do new floors in kitchen and bath and a complete demo and remodel of my basement. I met with Cory to chat counters and found some options that would work well for our house. We talked about the remodel and he informed me that they are fully licensed contractors and asked if he could work up a bid for all the work. Why not, he was already at the house. But I "knew" that, just as all the other contractors had told me, they wouldn't be able to start for a couple months and it'd cost me too much money. I was wrong! Boy, was I wrong! Cory talked to Steve (the owner) and they came back with a bid that beat all other bids; and, with the house sitting empty, if they were able to work whenever they could, they could finish in my demanding timeframe! Was I sceptical? You better believe it! It was all way too good to be true. So I hit the internet and researched the heck out of this outfit. Apparently Steve had recently taken over this Utah franchise from the previous owner whose husband had died and she just couldn't manage it any longer and had fallen into some issues with previous clients, unfortunately. Steve and Cory both were total straight shooters, so I signed on the dotted line and we got the ball rolling on my remodel. Fingers crossed.... I won't bore you with the details of the remodel itself, because what really matters is that everything was done to my expectations in the timeframe I expected it, for a price that was extremely fair. Seriously, just look at the photos I added. As Steve and his team found out first-hand, remodeling a 1940's Sugarhouse bungalow is not without it's problems. You never know what you'll find when you tear up a floor or knock out a wall in these old homes. There were a few stumbling blocks, but they worked through them, and kept me in the loop during the entire process. I spoke to Steve at least two or three times a week throughout the remodel. I think one of the greatest things is that everyone who Steve uses, with the exception of the plumber, works for Steve. He doesn't sub out every little job. He schedules his guys to do exactly what he needs done and they are there when they say they'll be there, do the work they need to do and are an overall all around great group of guys. Again, you cannot go wrong here. Makes me sad to see that the only other review is quite negative about the sales experience alone, but those high-pressure sales people can pop up anywhere. It does ruin it. I've walked out of car dealerships due to bad sales people, so I feel for that guy, but Cory (who I believe is the only salesperson there now) was awesome! Great work, great price, great people! Overall a great experience. Give Steve and his team a chance to improve your home. You won't regret it. I didn't...seriously, just look at those photos!!!

After signing the contract, we heard nothing from them for weeks. They finally showed up unannounced at 4:00 PM. The crew did a mediocre job on roughly three-quarters of the yard, then announced they were done for the day and would return the next day to finish. While on site, the workers took multiple long breaks. The lead spent a noticeable amount of time on his phone scrolling instead of supervising or working. When I asked why they weren't working, he simply said it was hot. It was warm, but they had only been actively working for about 50 minutes when I confronted him. They had been on-site for roughly 2.5 hours total. When they left, the lead claimed they had clocked two hours. The bill later charged us for the full time the truck was at our property (via GPS tracking), regardless of whether the crew was actually working. They also stated that the return visit would have a two-hour minimum. At $195 per hour for a three-man crew, this adds up very quickly for incomplete work. The crew ultimately left several areas with visible weeds untouched. Overall, the service was unprofessional, the work quality was subpar, and the billing practices felt unfair. This company is expensive and not worth it. Save your money and look elsewhere.
