My wife and I installed the Bosso Permanent Home Smart Lighting system almost one year ago. The system's cost is far from inconsequential, so we completed the installation in three phases. We purposely waited until now, after using the system, to give our honest review of the installation, day-to-day use and operation, cell phone application integration, and customer service. Under optimal conditions, the lighting system is wonderful. The phone app offers incredible control over the lights, with a staggering selection of displays available. We initially purchased the system with Christmas lighting in mind; however, it quickly expanded to a variety of day-to-day accent lighting and lighting options for just about every event and holiday imaginable. Contact with Customer Service representatives began as warm, person-to-person interactions with reasonable timelines. Over time, we observed operational changes that devolved into unanswered telephone calls, resulting in delayed, unhelpful responses delivered only via text or email. Customer service acts with indifference toward customers' needs, whitewashing its own shortcomings in ensuring timely personnel availability for repairs. When they do respond, it's with an abundance of word salad, foot-dragging, hollow promises, and no actionable results. Lack of transparency in communications is an issue for their business. When repairs eventually do occur, the repair technicians are professional and competent, but in short supply. Equipment seems to be another problem. As is the case with many areas today, ours is experiencing growth that requires infrastructure upgrades, leading to brief neighborhood power outages while work is underway. We have had three short outages (under 10 minutes) since the system was installed. Each caused some problems with our system. Bosso's response to these issues has been nothing short of horrible, with extended periods when portions of our Bosso lights stayed out for weeks. In closing, the lighting system is great when it works as planned, but the company lacks customer support, organized personnel, and integrity related to communications. One is left feeling held hostage to a company whose system is too expensive to abandon, too good when it works properly, but too unreliable to feel anything other than dread with every power outage. read more

Absolutely horrible service program. Under no circumstances should you purchase from Bosso. Try calling the main office and you will never reach anyone. I have been texting with someone, who I do not know, for months. My system stopped working after 6 months. It's been 3 months and I cannot get them to send a technician to look at the issue. There technicians are busy installing new systems, with zero availability to provide service to existing systems with a 5 year warranty, which apparently is worth nothing. We have called, emailed, texted....nothing. Avoid Bosso Smart Lights at all cost. read more

The attentiveness and service while getting an estimate and having a light installed was excellent. However, a week after installation one of the two systems installed went off-line. I tried all the recommended steps to get it reset, to no avail. I was told that technical support would be in contact with me. That was a week ago and I still haven't heard from them. We love our lights and installation guy was great! But the salesperson and the back office need work. They give a quote and do this slideshow but then I wondered how this guy came up with the price. He told me how many square feet and how much per square foot. He said he estimated our roofline was 180 feet. I pulled out our plans and did some math and I estimated it more like 150-155. We settled on 160. And when I asked if I could actually cancel he knocked off a few more dollars per foot. I was ok with that but when the lights were actually installed I did some math and our roofline is actually 145 feet (probably more like 142)! So beware how these guys are giving you quotes. He also said he's giving me a "model home deal," which I think was also super bogus. The salesperson said he's pretty good at estimating the length and never off by 5-10%. 10% off is a big difference and could result in hundreds of dollars (even almost a thousand) you're overpaying! And in my case he was off 20%! So beware when you get quotes and do some math yourselves because these sales guys are adding on a lot of extra feet to their quote! I had already signed a deal at 180 feet because these guys were at my house until 9:20 pm and I have little kids I had to put to bed. But as I thought about it overnight I had questions like how they came up with the price. They were nice enough to change it to 160 feet but after I got it installed I was charged the original amount and had to get that fixed. I have another issue I'm trying to get solved and I've been on hold for 15 minutes and haven't been able to talk to a human. I called back and pushed 1 for quotes. Someone answered right away. What do you know, they just want your money but don't want to help. The first time I pushed 2 for service. The estimate person who answered said she can't help me but will send a message to someone and they will call me back. We'll see. The other issue if you're wondering, we signed up for financing and our application was pending. So that night I put 50% on my credit card but the next day we were approved for financing so we ended up doing that. Our sales guy said a refund check would be sent out on May 7. It's now May 18 and haven't received anything. read more

After a very close lightning strike, our Basso lighting system went completely "wacco" with different colors of lights all over the eves, and the system wasn't on. After trying to contact customer service and the chat box, I was told it would be 3-4 weeks before anyone would be able to come to Erie, CO to service our system. BUT, 48hrs. later EDUARDO texted me and said that he would be at our home within a 1/2 hour. He was extremely courteous and, more importantly, sooo very knowledgeable. On a ladder, he checked-out the system and in the garage, the control box, and he found that the hard wiring was not damaged, but the software and app were "messed-up". He reset everything in the app. Our Bosso lights, which we've enjoyed for almost a year with only a few glitches, are now working well, thanks to EDUARDO. My husband and I certainly appreciated Eduardo's efforts and familiarity with the Bosso lighting system, and his taking the time to be at our home before returning to his home at the dinner hour. He was awesome!! My husband has since installed a surge protector, at the suggestion of Eduardo, next to the Bosso control box. Both my husband and I would suggest that the communication between Bosso' s customer service, customer support, and the Chat Box be much improved. Customers should be able to talk to someone "live", or leave a VM at any time of the day or night, without contacting the District Manager, and be contacted immediately. The ChatBox was useful, until my husband and I were told to "go into the control box to reset the controls.". Not only did we have to get on a ladder, but we couldn't open the control box. That's when we said, "Enough, we must have a technician come out". read more

Not even 1 star. We paid 8 thousand dollars for lights that are unusable due to the abysmal Bosso software. Judging by other reviews, perhaps a class action suit is warranted. read more

also lights experience has been a one star review out of 100, we spent well over $10,000 for lights that will not work consistently. Trying to get a hold of somebody is like pulling teeth, they say they'll be here at 10 AM then receiving a message they'll be running an hour behind, this is constan, they've never been on time except to collect their money. They just show up when they want. After countless attempts of them trying to fix our lights legal action is the only way to go. Save yourself time and money and frustration. The lights themselves are satisfactory; however, my experience regarding the financing has been completely unacceptable. Prior to signing the agreement, I explicitly discussed financing options with the sales representative. I was assured that I could make a down payment and finance a smaller remaining balance, resulting in a lower monthly payment. This was a key factor in my decision to proceed. During installation, I reiterated this agreement to the on-site manager. He confirmed that this arrangement would not be an issue and assured me that a representative from the finance department would contact me to finalize the details. Several days later, I discovered--without any prior notice--that the loan had been opened for the full amount. When I attempted to resolve this, the manager informed me that everything needed to be handled through Synchrony and directed me elsewhere. Synchrony, in turn, stated that only your company could correct the issue. When I contacted your finance department, I was told that nothing could be done to change the loan. This situation makes it clear that I was misled in order to secure the sale. At this point, not only has the original agreement been ignored, but there appears to be no willingness to take responsibility or correct the problem. This is a serious matter, and I expect it to be addressed promptly. read more

We contracted with Bosso Smart Lights to install our home lighting and WOW are they great. The installation was quick and the light system is bright and flexible. They are a ton of preset for every holiday and event you can think of, from Christmas to the 4th of July. I would not hesitate to contract with Bosso in the future if we decide to add more lights and I give them my highest recommendation. read more

I cannot say enough good about this company. From sales, installation, easy app to use. This is about as good as it gets. I absolutely love the lights and have presets for holidays. I do recommend using a dedicated circuit for the lights with gfi. The controller is sensitive to electrical loads. My home is the envy of the neighborhood. read more

The original app was scary to use. But Bosso now has developed an in-house app that works very well. Also, texting the local serviceman seldom got a response. We had to call the Utah office for help and/or training. HOWEVER, we are very pleased with the lighting system itself; which is why we would give Bosso a five-star rating. read more

Poorly managed company. Save your money/patients and go with Gemstone lights. They will sell you their garbage product then never support you again. When emailing the owner, Matt of the company, after 12 other attempts to get ahold of someone there we received "LOL" in response. Terrible company, wouldn't wish them on my enemy. Not only did they not properly install our lighting system, but they also broke multiple tiles on our roof. Then they promised to fix it, gave us the run around, and never showed up. We are now in a lawsuit with Bosso (not) Smart Lighting, not just to recoup our losses, but also to make sure they do not get away with these poor business practices with other unassuming customers. My install was competed this week, after signing my contract in July. I talked to Amelia on the office about my delayed installation and she resolved it right away. Amelia turned out to be the employee every business needs. Prompt to address concerns, pleasant to communicate with, answered every email and even txts quickly and professionally. I posted a year ago about what a terrible decision it was to waste my money on Bosso. A year later.....still the same! Lights haven't worked in a week. Bosso sends out a "sorry, we are working on it" email and then nada for a week. Was hoping to have Halloween lights on but probably not. Seriously, how bad is this company!? The lights look great when they work, which is not the case all the time. I am using a preset because I have not managed to set up my own without failing. Every time I use my own, half the lights are out. Every night, they reset to a random, uneven red-white lineup. I am sure it is something within the app, but I can't reach ANYONE. I tried 5 different phone numbers, and I can't find an email. And in addition, the setting for sunset to sunrise starts the lights sometimes within an hour after sunset. Sadly for them, I am the first house when you enter my neighborhood, and everyone can see the lights. I already got a request to share their info. Well, I will tell all of them NOT to use them. Beware Utah. Bosso lights are beautiful. The app is somewhat difficult to learn. But the real problem is that Bosso provides no service. They even deny that they have dealers in Utah. When we had difficulties with our connection between the control unit and our app and tried to get help, we could not receive any. Fortunately, our son who is the Director of and technology department in SLC was able to re-establish the connection. read more

I've had my Bosso lights for about 18 months now, originally the control app was WLED which was somewhat challenging for me to design my own presets, however now Bosso has their own app and it's a breeze! Amelia at Bosso has been top notch in customer service, she replies quickly and has always helped out with questions and walk throughs. The installer was Eli, wow I was so impressed with his work and communication, no surprises and completed the job in 1 day, he stayed late to get it done. Fully paid, started the job and half way through literally disappeared, tore up my grass and stopped answering the phone. I paid Jelly Fish to rip Bosso's stuff off and jelly fish finished the job in 2 days. To this day the only company that's ever stolen my money. Matt & Gage the owners promise after promise after promise with zero delivery. Steer clear. Could have been a one off but I that was me. I've got 5 years to sue and get my money which I'll do so 2 years left which I'll do. Shame on you guys. read more

The lights are really cool and they cut me a good deal on them. I have no complaints about the quality or price. The technician who did the install however, promised to clean up after himself, but left tons of zip ties, staples, screws, and bits of metal all over the yard, the roof, and the driveway read more

Just had them installed. The product is good but the workmanship of the installers is AWFUL!! Wires were left outside of the tracks, tracks not lined properly, marks left on the newly painted stucco from the ladder, 2 holes in the stucco that they patched without telling me, screws and metal pieces left all over the yard, controller box not installed proper and the fan inside was not wired. I called them back to fix these items. Tech took photos and sent the installers back out to fix. They showed up after dark to paint and repair. They repatched the stucco, painted, textured, and repainted ( yes in this order) all within a 3 hour period on a cold 45 degree evening. They still left some of the wires out of the track and some of the marks unpainted. For the ridiculous amount of money I paid, this is CRAP work!!! read more

It was all good when we signed the contract and paid for our lights. Two months later we can only turn them on or off or select a preset option, not to mention the red and green colors are reversed. We were told to download the Bosso app instead of the one we were set up with. Still can't get it setup. We were referred to Bosso.biz to configure the app. There is nothing on the website on setup. Have texted and called... Bosso number just cuts off. Do NOT recommend Bosso lights! read more

I was very pleased with the initial installation of my permanent lighting system. The professional installation uses tracking that matches my soffit and fascia perfectly making it appear part of the eves without any visible wiring. When I had to change my router/modem I ran into difficulty with the WLED Native app, A simple call to the main office where I was greeted with professional courtesy and just plain awesome customer support. I was able to install and implement the new super easy to use Bosso app. The Bosso app is so user friendly I can change the setting from my living room and preview the lights before I choose the option to light the house. I recommend to anyone thinking about installing permanent light to use the Bosso Smart Lighting company. read more

We purchased the Bosso outside lighting system this past August (2024). The salesperson, Stone, did a fine job of selling it. The installer, CJ, did a very good job with the installation. However, operating the system via the App has proven to be a challenge. We installer was able to control the system through his device but we have not been able to make the App work. We contacted the salesperson and he connected us to a support tech, Mike, who came to our home to help. He installed a Wi-Fi booster and also set up a "back door" method to control the system, as the primary user App still did not work. The back door method is clearly NOT coded for easy use. We can only operate it in a very limited way. It is a decently expensive system and we are going to reach back to the Tech to see if we can get the App working. We have discovered there may be a subscription cost for the App, which would piss me off if true. This was not part of our calculus in the purchase. There should be a "free" basic App for operation of the functionality we were sold. If you are considering the purchase of their system, make sure you cover the operation App part carefully. read more

avoid these lights! they are cheap quality to begin with and under powered power unit but worse of all you have to use WLED software to even control. they came out with their beta testing app which I'm sure will have its issues but will expect you to pay 100 bucks a year just so you can control the lights you already paid for. read more
