Part 1 of my Review: Microblading My eyebrows had a good overall shape to begin, but I found that I had random little patches that I needed to fill in daily with my brow pencil/kit. After consulting with Tawny she mapped out my brows and found which areas needed a little more (she added hair strokes to my arches, bulbs (front) & tails). The whole process took about 2 hours, including the consultation, numbing process & microblading (she did 2 passes of the hairstrokes she made, and went over it a 3rd time to make any final touches). She showed me the results and asked if there was any areas I wanted to be added to. After the process was over, she explained the after care steps in detail so I was prepared to care for my brows during the healing process for the following week. Now my brows are good to go and I don't have to worry about the extra 5-10 minutes of filling in my brows perfectly each morning. I can't wait to see her in a couple weeks for my touch up! Part 2 of my Review: Lash Lift Who isn't obsessed with perfectly fluffy & voluminous lashes?! Lashes are my "must-do" part of my beauty routine everyday. I hate leaving the house without mascara.. but I always (always) have to curl my lashes in order for the length of my lashes to truly show. I had tried lash extensions before... it was nice temporarily, but you have to return for fills every couple weeks and the $$ truly adds up... not to mention- my beautiful long lashes were DESTROYED after lash extensions... Thank goodness when I was in for my microblading appointment, Tawny told all about lash lifts! I was sold right away and scheduled another appointment with her. The lash lift took all of 35 minutes... (not hours like lash extensions)! And when I left... they were ALL MY OWN LASHES, so it doesn't feel funny or take a while to get used to. If I had known about lash lifts years ago, I would have done that instead of lash extensions. No glue involved.. no accidentally pulling off the extension and in turn ripping your own lash off. NO damage!!! There were a few different steps Tawny talked me through. She puts a couple different serums on that curl your lashes. I asked questions along the way and she answered all of them and talked me through her process step by step. Quick, simple & the results of perfectly curled lashes will last for 8-12 weeks! When I arrived I was greeted by two remarkable women receptionists. They were as friendly, personable and knowledgeable as I could have asked for. They answered all my questions and made me comfortable which for me is extremely difficult because I am deathly afraid of dentists,because of some bad experiences I've had in the past. I was ushered into an examine room where I was greeted by a lab assistant who took x-rays with a handheld devise I was more more comfortable with rather than the large machines I've always been frightened of because of my fear of radiation. After the x-rays were completed four medically clad people into the room. They were all very personable and friendly and again made me at ease. Dr. Sean did everything necessary to prepare the implant explaining every detail to me as he evaluated and prepared me for the implant after having previously placed a temporary device onto my tooth. Everything was completed with a half hour and I made an appointment for two week to have the implant done. Each of these people were extremely knowledgeable, comforting and pleasant. The cost of my services and the implant was very reasonable after I had done the cost research. I received services from soup to nuts and couldn't have been Moore pleased. I went to Newbury Smiles about three months ago for a routine cleaning. At that visit, I was told I…read morehad "deep pockets" in my gums, but no one mentioned cavities, an urgent treatment plan, or any significant issues. I was also never shown any X-rays, and I did not meet with the dentist -- only the hygienist. I returned in November for another cleaning, and immediately after the appointment I was suddenly told that I had three cavities between my teeth on both sides of my mouth and that treatment was "imperative." I was completely blindsided. When I said this was the first time anyone had mentioned cavities, the dentist insisted that I had been told months earlier -- which is simply not true. I clearly remember that conversation, and none of this was discussed. I wasn't shown X-rays at that time because they hadn't even been reviewed yet. The dentist only looked at my August X-rays in November and then accused me of "neglect." His exact words were: "Neglect adds up, and it comes in the form of tooth decay. You've done a good job, but now you have a lot of damage to repair." That comment alone was unprofessional, dismissive, and deeply unsettling. Then they slid a $2,500 treatment plan across the table as if this had all been previously agreed upon. I felt pressured, blindsided, and very uncomfortable with how the entire situation was handled. Something didn't sit right with me, so I went to a highly rated dentist in Westlake for a second opinion -- a practice with consistent five-star reviews. They were incredibly welcoming and thorough. They were shocked by how few X-rays Newbury Smiles had taken and reviewed. After examining me and reviewing new films, they told me: * My gums are healthy * My teeth are in great shape * I do not have cavities * I do not need fillings * I do not need any of the treatment Newbury Smiles recommended The contrast was night and day. In my honest opinion: Newbury Smiles is not operating in the best interest of patients. I left feeling pressured, misled, and spoken to disrespectfully. The dentist is a snake oil salesman and a hustler, and it seems like his staff isn't been an enamored with him either. I'm grateful I trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion. I urge anyone considering this practice to be cautious and to verify recommendations elsewhere.
