A better than average lounge with a quiet atmosphere and good food.
After a long trans-Atlantic flight, we missed our connection and had some time to kill. British Airways Galleries First Lounge had decent amenities, but as far as first class lounges, this one ranks on the lower end of that scale for me.
The decor is nice, but still feels very corporate and stiff. The worst part about the experience were the restrooms, or toilets as the British might say. The lighting in them is poor (think fluorescent light) and the paper towels nearly disintegrated in my hands whilst drying.
The food and beverage were better than average and there was a wide array of foods to choose from. You do have the option of ordering directly from the menu via QR code if you prefer a meal. They had dishes like hummus and burgers. There was also an ample buffet with a variety of salads, tea sandwiches and hot dishes. I really enjoyed all the items I helped myself to from the buffet, especially the BBQ meat pie. YUM!
The lounge was kept tidy by the attendants and they were quick to clear any plates and cups after we were done with them.
There were a variety of different seating arrangements, but if you want outlet access for charging, you would need to choose an armchair configuration and not a table.
Overall, the BA Galleries First Lounge was good, but as far as a first class lounge atmosphere, it feels a bit bare bones to claim the title of a First Class. Still, it was very quiet in there even though it was about half full. No screaming kids and everyone was respectful and quiet when we were there. read more
