I've been here three times for service. The first time was for a cut, which Garreth did, and it turned out great. The second time was for color - I was going for a strawberry blonde and I had the lady stylist. Although initially it looked decent, after a week, all the brassiness came through and no amount of purple shampoo would fix it. When I came for my third visit, I requested to go just blonde without any red/brassy tones. The lady, I don't know her name, suggested a full foil of highlights. This may have been okay had she done a better job, but from the attached photos your can see that she did not do the foil to the root. These photos were taken two days after my appointment. You can clearly see the line between my roots and the blond. Looks like I tried to do it myself. For $248 I expect a way better product. I won't be returning. I suggest going elsewhere for any kind of color. Don't waste your money or you'll be highly disappointed and feeling taken just like me. read more

Today i had my first visit to BritStyle, where I met Hope & Gareth. They both greeted me at the door and explained a little of the store to me and how they work! The layout and decor is beautiful, didn't expect a very clean classy look and that's what I got (mainly because all my other hair salons all look the same). My appt started promptly at noon where I met Leslie. I was nervous that she wasn't familiar with cutting curly hair - but she did a phenomenal job. It's so true, a haircut can make you feel so different! I left there feeling like a new woman! We cut several inches, layered and used washed my hair... it feels so healthy. I moved to Maryland in August and was stressed about finding a great hair stylist. I left an amazing stylist where I moved from. I am new to the area and was in search of a stylist that not only knew their stuff but would actually care about me as a customer. I had gotten a full head of blonde highlights and was wanting to go back to my dark color. By the time I met Gareth, my hair was losing its color (turning brassy) and was super dry. I had been using purple shampoo and any leave-in hair conditioners/masks that I could (only temporary and greasy fixes). Gareth gave me a consult and just the amount of time he took to inform me of what had happened to my hair and what would need to be done plus the products that could help my hair get back to normal with no further damage, was such a relief. Gareth truly understands the importance of long-term business/customer service so I knew I was not just another number. The Surface products BritStyle carries is hands-down awesome! I am using the curls shampoo/conditioner although I do not have curly hair. Gareth said this type will help give my hair the moisture and protein it needs for now. This is the first salon I've gone to where the stylist has actually talked to me about working with my hair instead of against it and how to properly care for it and not damage it. The salon is really cute and impeccably clean. Gareth was welcoming and knowledgable. The products they use are to help your hair and they really know which ones are best for your particular type of hair. I also liked that they are upfront with the pricing and it's a no-tip salon. I came here for the first time today. I followed my stylist from Annapolis! Drove an hour to see Hope. I've known her for years and for someone of her age she does a fantastic job! Also Britstyle salon was a homey place, not loud and crazy like other salons, the owner was very personable and talked to me for a bit when I first arrived. Also they carry this amazing line called Surface that they have a ton of haircare products and a few shower / lotion options . I bought a travel size lotion and it's amazing and a smoothing cream for my hair! Cool thing is this stuff is gluten free and has no bad things added like other stuff out there! So for a long time I had a terrible fear of hair salons because I've had horrible and nightmarish experiences. Early this year I wanted to give my hair a chance and do something fun with it! I'd been one of those who had used boxed dye for many years, and by January 2018 it'd been over a year since my last coloring. I'd had a couple of trims since that last coloring to recover from all the damage my hair had gone through over the years. What's trendy now is the balayage ombré style, and I wanted that. And so I turned to Yelp and found BritStyle! I messaged them and said about what I experienced and set up a consult with Hope. Upon meeting Hope I knew I would be safe in her hands she listened to what I wanted, what I'd been through and we set an appointment to start the process. We were realistic about expectations the pretty ash blonde would take a while because I'm naturally a dark brown thick wavy hair. My first appointment she walked me through everything she was doing, kept a great conversation going, and after a few hours I had a really nice ombre! Exactly what I expected and wanted from that first visit. I think about 3 months later I came in to do the next process and it was a really pretty blonde for the summer. I went back last month for another process and now I have a wintery and freshened up blonde for the holidays! Hope and Gareth have been so awesome! Hope does amazing things with my hair and it feel sooooo healthy! Gareth is always fun and every one in the salon carries a conversation while you're there. I just went there the first time today and they treated me very well. It's pretty easy to get to on southbound 301. The signage isn't huge, but it's not hard to find either. The price for my cut and shampoo was 35$ and Hope did a great job. She was friendly and sparked conversation and.. most importantly, she cut my hair the way I wanted. She also shampooed my hair after the cut so I could go out without getting hair on my body and clothes. The Britstyle space is clean and modern with shampoo chairs on one side and barber's chairs on the other. No fleet street barber here, just a respectable business! I've been here twice so far. Both times I've gotten my hair cut by Gareth. He is very knowledgeable and talented. He really takes his time on my hair and will inform you of the products he uses but does not push the products on you. The second time I came I wanted to do a drastic dye job on my hair. Instead of just agreeing for money's sake, he let me know the damage it would do, which shows he has the best interest of his clients. Tip is included in the cost so you won't need to worry about how much to tip. The salon atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. The salon can be a bit tricky to spot the first time coming. read more

I travel a lot, so I don't get a chance to build a relationship with a stylist to always make sure I get the cut I want. When I went to this salon, the stylist sat down w me and I was able to tell him exactly how I wanted my hair and how I had achieved it in the past with another stylist. He addressed my concerns about the different ways my hair had been cut in the past and how to help keep the style I already had. He was professional and complementary, he didn't complain about how the other stylist had done my hair or try to make me change my mind on how I described I wanted my bangs cut. As a result, my hair is able to do it's own thing and look great. I also really like the all natural products that are used. On average I spend an hour there, that's for shampoo, cut, and style. And I appreciate that it's one set fee and I don't have to think about tipping. read more

I just moved here and was looking for a hair cut and highlights. I feel as though the owner really paid attention to what my hair needed and the best cut/highlighting would work for me. Most businesses are in it for the dollar, ring them up push them out. He took real time with me by FaceTime prior to appointment to discuss what I usually have done and what would work for my hair color. When I arrived the place it was clean and cozy. Again we discussed my hair in person and what would work for me both cut and color. He was friendly and his expertise made me very comfortable. After finishing, I felt and looked 100x better. I can't stress enough, that this is the place to go. While a little more expensive then chain salons, it is well worth the extra attention spent on you and not your billfold. Gareth spent at least 20 minutes looking through the pictures I brought of what I thought I wanted and discussing the realities of my hair and style options and probable results. I was completely confident before he even picked up scissors that I made the best choice. Gareth is a hair genius! At each step he would tell me which products he was using and why.
