I have been going to Brittany Beauty Academy to get my hair colored for years and have never had a bad experience. The students and staff have always been professional and friendly. The school is clean and up-to-date and modern and most importantly my color always comes out perfect. The prices are fair and I consider it a bargain. read more

I have visited the school for services for years. I was always quite happy with the services rendered by the students. I visited on Saturday, March 2nd, which was a complete nightmare. I don't know the procedures of the students working on the floor, but this particular student 100% still needs to be prepared. She proceeded to base my scalp with practically an entire jar of Vaseline. I inquired what she was doing, and she stated she was basing my scalp for the coloring procedure. I called the instructor over, and they had to wash my hair before the color, which, as I googled, the color blends better when the hair is dry. The student colored my hair while wet, and she did a deplorable job. The student washed my hair, scalding me with hot water about three times. The water was flowing underneath my sweater. So, I would not let this student use appliances on my hair. And she had the nerve to state I needed a haircut. I looked at her like you have got to be kidding me. I would never allow this person to cut my hair. I paid for the coloring, which I was hesitant to do; I refused to acknowledge the student or tip. I took a nail tech program this summer and I truly regret it. This place is a joke. I graduated this school in August, they are very greedy and disorganized + there is always some type of drama going on: teachers sleeping with each other's boyfriends and performing waxing on their vagina, fights, etc. PLEASE GO TO THE SCHOOL IN THE CITY (NOT BRITTANY !!) THEY CHARGE $2,300 WHICH IS $2K LESS AND THEY ARE SO SO MUCH BETTER. In the beginning of the program I had to study online with other students from the Bronx and couldn't understand a thing because they couldn't set up the mic and cameras properly. Sometimes the teacher would forget to let me in and I had to call the school crying and begging them to contact the teacher so they can let me in. Not to mention we began the program from the chapter 15? Doesn't make any sense. We had different teachers basically every single day until mid June. I spilled an acidic primer on my leg that they provided to me while practicing at home and I still have a chemical burn. It hurt like crazy. We then had take a class in person which was chaotic as well. They literally put us in the basement with no ventilation, no windows, there was mold on a tv, no nail polishes we could use, no implements, no pedicure chairs! I began feeling dizzy because we didn't have any windows nor ventilation I had to breathe in all the nail dust/ acetone smell/ monomers/ polishes etc, I used to literally leave the classroom lightheaded and sick. I complained about the CEO and they tried to kick me out and keep the money because I am an immigrant and they think I don't understand English and can just sign whatever (these people are not very smart, stupid I would say). Everyone was complaining about this school but the owner is the way too narcissistic to admit that they have to do something about it until they run out of business.. they will do everything to take money from you such as they make up stories like: "I can see you miss a class so you have to make up hours and it's going to cost you $*number*" even if it's not true. I ve never missed a single class and they had an audacity to pull "missed hours" card on me after I graduated. Also the students upstairs (cosmetology class) don't get any towels AND HAVE TO USE PAPER TOWELS ON CUSTOMERS!! PLUS THERE IS BARELY ANY HOT WATER IN THE BUILDING. We went to the haircutting school in Bay Ridge (Brittany Beauty Academy on 86th street and 4th avenue) yesterday to get my fiancé's hair cut bc you can get your haircut a lot cheaper there ($5 instead of $30). After the haircut, I asked if it was okay and he said yes. I asked if he was happy and he said yes. When we got outside he told me that she cut him and that he's glad he's alive. I tried to get him to go back in and complain but he wouldn't go back in. He had told the student who was cutting his hair "you're cutting me" while she was doing his haircut and she said "sorry" but she never asked for help and continued cutting his neck. The teachers weren't watching her either. The teacher had said this student knew how to do men's haircuts but she (the student) didn't even get all the hair off his neck and it wasn't even (not even around his ears). In addition, she cut him, a lot. (4 times on his neck and once behind his ear). When we got home, I called up the school to get an email to send the pictures to so they could see but they wouldn't give it to me. They just told me they believed me and would talk to the teacher and the student. Look at his poor neck! I've been putting bacitracin on it. My mom usually goes here every month to get her hair done and hasn't had as bad experiences so Idk if it's just guys hair they can't cut or if they can't do short hair or if it was just that student or her not knowing how to use a razor... This experience is 1 star but bc my mom goes here often and doesn't usually have a problem I gave them 2 stars. read more

I went to get my hair here on Wednesday morning! I went and my daughter and my little son went. Early morning around 10:30am we all took our temperature it was all good! My son over the age 10 he is 11 years old always coming with us I'm disabled so I goes to this school in bay ridge for years. I live in park slope Brooklyn area so I travel to get her. My son always sat down in play his games and don't bother no one. I had text one of the teacher that Friday so I could come in get my hair done on Wednesday morning. When I was getting my hair washed in the sink telling me that the boy had go out side in wait. He always wait by the front door in chair but now they took the chair out in put them down the stairs by the front door that anyone could come in take my child. Then the teacher at the school going to tell me after she took his temperature told him he only could come in the school if he took his temperature so he did. For one I couldn't see him at the front door while I getting my hair washed plus the teacher gave him permission to come in. I'm disabled and disappointed of those people at this school. Then the teacher looked at me and I told you before I told her you never did! I stay up for my rights I'm disabled I was treated unfairly by this school staff I never had a any problem with this school until now unprofessional. You took the child temperature you didn't have a problem until your manager get on you. I always say it not what you said to people it's how you said it. Remember that I don't know if I will return back to the beauty school at this point I really don't know. I know I'm not going to be treated like this in anyway by anyone. Be careful how you teach other to people kids. I needed to let you how people deal with things and how people treated people is sometimes is unfair. Thanks ! God blessed read more

I'm a student at Brittany academy currently and I absolutely LOVE mrs.jo ! enthusiastic and charismatic way she teaches us is so freshening to find someone who truly loves their job and cares about her student whole heartedly From day one she focused on state board exam and teaching us to the point were I have my state board exam memorized start to finish I feel more than prepared and I still 3 months before I graduate. This is the best decision I've ever made and I have made lifelong friends in the process . 100% recommend this school . read more

Everyone at this school is so very unprofessional, has horrible communication & customer service! You have to literally harass them for information about their programs! Claimed they would put my contract together & email it to me & that was a month ago & I've missed another start date , guess I'll try again next month with EMPIRE & take my $16,000 there! March 6th, 2019 I made a decision to join the BBA family and it was the best decision I've ever made. The teachers, staff, and students were all so amazing, kind, and helpful. I felt like it was my second home and second family. Wasn't really happy with my experience. I understand these ladies are students but I left there soaking wet from her washing my hair and my hair wasn't even completely done. I had 45 minutes to get my hair done and she said I didn't give her enough notice but it's never taken me more than 45 minutes to get a simple wash and blow. No matter how cheap the price is I think that's my last time encountering with the Brittany Beauty Academy. It's either a hit or miss and it was definitely a miss this time. read more
