I look forward to stopping at Brix when I drop off my son for college in Cortland. I am amazed that the Napoli pizza shines past most Pizza places on Long Island. While it is not a Grimaldies it can easily be a second place winner. I found the wings perfectly prepared and the Guinness draught clean and refreshing. Horrible doesn't even begin to explain the service that I was given here. I had a legal New York State id which clearly showed I was 21 and I still was denied service. I chose to to stay here because I was with other people and the waitress continued to give our group attitude throughout the meal. One person asked for lemon in their water and this woman acted like the world was going to end rolling her eyes and groaning. The food was half way decent however the pizza was badly burnt and the crust tasted like it sat frozen in a cardboard box before they took it out. If you like rude service poor lighting and average food this is the place for you! read more

The food/drinks are good but the service sucks.... We were seated and about 30 mins later we were waited on for drinks. Then 30 mins later they came to take our order without our drinks. 10 mins late they got us our room temp. drinks and the waiter said "Sorry they just made them." Ha ok the ice was melted. About another 20 mins later our food came out cold.... They were suppose to be warm dishes. I talked to the manager and all he said "We're very busy." No they weren't. Love the bartenders though! This place is supposed to be known for their wings and pizza. Have to say I am not at all impressed. The wings didn't even seem to have sauce on them and I had to ask for extra on the side, which was cold and didn't taste very good. They also were all breading with not a lot of chicken, and a lot of them weren't even cooked. The pizza isn't very good either, the crust is tasteless and there isn't enough sauce on it. Not to mention the service is awful, had to wait 20 minutes to even get a drink, and the waitress only came back to the table twice. Don't recommend. read more

I stop by about twice a month when I want to get out of Ithaca. It's a relatively new place and they pumped a lot of money into the interior. Has kind of a corporate feel and employees are store logo uniforms and usually jeans. The pizza is a stone refractory oven and they have a fan base, but it's not for me. Thin cracker like crust and kind of pricey for the small pizza which one person could easily finish with a couple beers. The menu is a bit all over the place and, in my opinion, twice as big as it needs to be. Saw one appetizer of "loaded tater tots" which looked like about a pound of tots covered with cheese, bacon and ranch dressing for $13. It's something I would split with three or four people, but this was someone's meal for themselves. Good specials esp on Sunday and Monday with wing and drink combos. Beer prices are reasonable but there are better deals in town if you look for them. read more

Very impressive for a college town brew pub. We will be visiting again on Thursday for football. So tonight the three of us had chicken Parmesan, the burger special, and a pizza. About 30 min. Later we tried their wings (honey mustard and hot) I had the burger special...after all it was $5 burger night. I also had a bowl of Chili. Chili was alright, a little bite to it but for one who likes heat it was OK. The burger was awesome. A maple syrup bacon cheese burger on a nice crusty bun and of course fries and a pickle. Chili was extra but the burger could easily go for $8-$10. From my companions they piazza was fantastic. Of course cooked in a brick oven. The chicken park was well worth the price. So we thought we might stay and watch the games and ordered wings. Hot was not so hot; could use more heat. The honey mustard were tasty. Cooked to a nice crispy outside and tender juicy inside. They have about 15 beers on tap and they rotate local brewery ales and ciders. A nice place to go and hang out. Server was great and showed just the right amount of attention. Dinner was good, definitely above average. But trying to get a drink at the bar was a nightmare. The bartenders were oblivious to what was going on. In fairness, it was crowded due to Jets Training Camp, but I've been to busier bars where the bartenders knew how to handle the crowd. These guys didn't. read more

The mixed veggies fries are a must try! The wasabi dipping sauce was heavenly. The fries were perfectly seasoned and very crispy. I didn't really care for the pizza though. Its good, but not special in any way. Well priced drinks, and they also have great happy hour specials. Perfect way to start a night out in Cortland. read more

We were staying at Hope Lake Lodge and ventured into town to eat. I saw the reviews and decided to try it. So glad we did! It was awesome. The Caprese pizza was delicious. Our apps were great the veggie sticks and the bruschetta - yummy. Great selection of beer on tap. The cortland brewery Naked Lap Lager was excellent. Staff was friendly and attentive. So delicious every single time. Now they have a brunch menu offering on Sunday that is very good too. We don't go often, but their bbq chicken pizza and their calzones are fabulous. great hangout. Plenty of bar space, lots of peeps on a Saturday night, good mix - college students and families with kids, a good bet for food. Sat at the bar and ordered a Guinness. Took a while for it to be delivered but was well poured and good. I had the Caprese sandwich for dinner. Came out pretty quickly and was served with what seemed like homemade potato chips. The chips were a bit greasy and i didn't eat them. The sandwich was delicious and I would order it again. I ordered a glass of white wine next. The wine was served in a small carafe with a small snifter type glass. The wine was warm and should have been chilled. Not a fan of the glass. Would have preferred a wine glass filled with chilled wine! Would try Brix again if I was the area. read more

Food was very good, great selection. We ordered several dishes and ate family style because there were so many things we wanted to try. The salads were large with mixed lettuce. The pizza was very tasty baked in the brick oven (you could tell that the sauce was fresh). The staff was friendly and fast even though it was a very busy night for them. We found the owner working back with his chefs making pizzas, good morale and a good attitude. We will definitely be coming back next time we drive through Cortland. read more

Was very nice inside, clean. Waitresses ran like crazy but the juicy lucy burger took forty mins to come out. Was a lil undercooked and chared on the outside but was good. Prices were reasonable, all the pizzas comin out looked very good. They have the brick oven right there so u can c them cook it. Brix has many great drinks, but recently they have cut their menu and removed some of their best items. They have also removed whole wheat crusts from the pizza menu, most of the desserts. The staff is about 50% on getting your order correct the first time. read more

I have been here several times since it opened, and each time has been worse than the last. I used to take customers here after a business meeting, but i would not bring my dog here to eat now. The service is awful, had to grab the menus and silverware and seat myself after waiting in the front door so long. The waitress then got nearly all of the order wrong, and did not know what was on the menu or in any of the foods. My Guinness came 45 minutes after we sat ourselves, and had nearly 3" of head on it. After the 2nd try, our chicken wings were given to us nearly ice cold in the middle. Anyone want to eat some raw chicken? The waitress then ignored the raw chicken complaint and refused to speak to the table the rest of the night, while leaving raw chicken on our table. Talking to the health department would be easier than reasoning with this moron. The Brix Menu says "Brick Oven Pizza... It's Why We're Famous!". I could not agree more, it should be famous for the worst pizza ever made. More than 50% of the pizza had no toppings other than canned tomato sauce, and it was burnt... badly (Oh and i forgot to mention, i ordered the pizza without sauce). Thank god there is a Dominos to get delivery from, because it tasted amazing compared to Brix. And the service was good too! Good job Dominos! read more
