The Dryden Hotel is not the fanciest restaurant in New York, but it excels at what it does. My smash burger was delicious, a solid patty cooked as you would expect a smash burger, very juicy with a sturdy soft bun. My colleague liked their breakfast burger with eggs, and my other colleague told me her salad was very fresh and textured. The restaurant dates to the 19th Century according to a sign and has the feel of an old school saloon with copper on the ceiling. Superb customer service. I was ignored for the first 10 minutes or so after walking in, despite the server clearly seeing me. She seemed more concerned with entertaining the drunk patrons at the bar. Another employee came in and also proceeded to ignore me. I finally had to go up to the bar to get the server's attention. I was the only one sitting at a table, so it wasn't busy. After she finally took my order, I think she kept forgetting I was there as I kept waiting for way too long to get my food and drink. So many tattoos it was hard to tell where clothes ended and tattoos started. So the food or should I say buffet. Two trays of wings, a pizza, and a bowl of salad. Pizza looked stale. I didn't try it at all. Wings were so so and very messy. One tray hot and one sweet. Salad was also so so. It took ten minutes to get my bill, between my busy waitress and Daisy Duke. Final bill? $18.00. What? Oh I shocked myself. That's right $18.00 for about 6 wings. Bowl of salad, and an iced tea. Not too many other choices in Dryden so I hope I'm not going back. I was in a bind on a Sunday morning for an outdoor lunch for 40 team members (the NEXT DAY). Cheryl and her team at the Dryden Hotel came in and put together an OUTSTANDING lunch for our team, on exceptionally short notice. The potato salad in particular was amazing, and they sourced fresh fruit for us as well. PLUS, they are closed on Mondays, so they did all of this on what should have been their day off. More than anything I love the actual bar. It's really attractive and that's just something turns me on. Dig me a real, wooden, bar with proper stools and foot rests (and hooks!!! Because purses!!!). The food is pretty decent with a fair variety and the staff are always friendly. Their specials are enjoyable and they have a solid burger. I have so many vivid memories about this place, but like everything in this town it has seen better days. I recently went back to New York on a trip to see some old friends that I haven't seen in about 10 years. On my way through my old town I came here to try and bring some old memories back, but I was extremely disappointed by what I saw. Very disappointed. 5 years ago, I would've given this place a 5 star rating! Used to be amazing servers, cooks, and atmosphere. While visiting my hometown, I decided to meet with an old friend and grab a bite to eat here. Was disappointed. The inside is clean and up to date. However, the prices are extremely high for what you get. I ordered a half Caesar salad and added grilled chicken to it. The chicken was cold and tasted old. The salad was barely lettuce, mostly croutons and shredded parm cheese. The server that started us was great. On top of getting our order in, keeping our drinks filled, etc. After we got our meals, we had a different server. Never came over to ask how the food was (I would've explained that I did not like my salad), but never had the chance. After 20 minutes of having our food, the server dropped off a box for my salad I barely ate. Didn't use the box and she came by, took my salad that I had pushed off to the side and then brought our bill. This is the only sit down restaurant in Dryden, so options are very limited. I would recommend taking an extra drive to Cortland and Ithaca to go to a different restaurant. read more

Meh. Very difficult to find a vegan or vegetarian option. First the up side. The fried pickles were enjoyed by everyone at the table. My partner had the grilled prime rib (they grill up the left over prime rib from the Sunday special) and he thought it was great. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. The cook got a couple of orders wrong, and they had to be sent back to the kitchen, but the waitress dealt with it graciously. Everything else we got was kind of ordinary diner food. I got the Turkey Reuben. The meat was clearly processed, not cooked on site. There was very little sauerkraut and it was pretty under whelming. The iceburg salad was one of the worst I've had. For a locally-owned place in Central New York wine country, I'm really surprised that the wine here (very few different kinds) is from a large California commercial wine company and comes in small singleserve bottles and poured into your glass. Even the pizza is limpid and pale, not fresh and homemade tasting. Food is uninspired food-service-grade. Just disappointing all-around, with one exception: service is friendly and efficient. Inconsistent, but your best choice in Dryden. Food: We go sometimes for the unlimited wings. Best selection of sauces in the area, but the wings are inconsistent. Some nights they're great, some nights you ear a few and want to give up. I've had amazingly delicious wings in the same basket as one so charred it was like eating ash. Off menu items are more consistent as far as quality. Some things are a great value for the price, some are not. The club sandwich is not one of these things. Decor: Fine, it's mainly a bar. Their salads are pretty good. 2 years ago my family came here and my uncle wanted 1000 island dressing with his salad and our waitress accidentally gave him "boom boom" sauce! I was really excited to go to the Dryden Hotel and indulge in their hyped up wing night. A friend and I went and asked the waitress to explain the deal they were offering. Two beers, bottomless wings, $18 sounded like a great deal! My friend ordered the wings and I ordered a pizza. We each tried each others food and then when the bill came we were both charged for a wing night special, despite only ordering one wing special. When we asked the waitress why we were both charged she replied that we both ate wings. This was super frustrating to hear because we specifically came here for a deal and asked our waitress to fully explain the special. We were both charged $18 for roughly 6 wings and a beer. This is just ridiculous, I paid for a pizza and shared with my friend but that doesn't mean we ordered and are charged for two pizzas!!!! This seems like shady business practice to charge us double without informing us the catch of the deal. Definitely unsatisfied with the service, I will never go back. read more

Service was very poor! I have come here quite often for dinner/brunch/lunch. I have been satisfied with service, until lately- it has been horrible. They make food half advertised on the menu and drinks mistakenly poured. The last few times service has been very slow, and food was not cooked to their standards. The waitresses ignore you unless you look familiar from the night before at the bar. We had to walk up to bar and ask for our bill for the evening, due to the fact our waitress never coming back after we recognized our Drinks were poorly made. They do not give you the service you deserve, and tend to male personal at the bar for approval. I used to be proud of recommending this place to others, but sadly I am not. I had placed an order in advanced with Todi's in Dryden do deliver sheet pizzas to the Elementary school for the kids who had to attend the after school program during their spring break. I received a call from Todi's (1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the delivery) saying they were going to be closed today, and they wouldn't be able to make and deliver the pizzas that I had ordered. In a panic, I called the Dryden Hotel. Jen took my call and went above and beyond to help me. She took my order and had the sheet pizzas delivered to the Elementary school in time for the kids to have lunch. (The Dryden Hotel does NOT deliver) Not only were the kids thrilled to have pizza, but they wouldn't have had lunch today if it weren't for the staff at the Dryden Hotel. The food is elevated bar food. Glad to have a family friendly "nicer" option close to home. The menu definitely has something for everyone. I will say it seems that if you're not the bartenders' favorite you take a backseat.
