Second time at Brix, first time as a vegan. Came to try the giant vegan menu, which is super awesome to have by the way. The environment was loud and college-esk, which is totally expected in a college town. Our waitress Maddie was attentive and on it with the service. For drinks, I tried the cosmo and house margarita (meh). Off the vegan menu, I got the veg head calzone (vegan mozz, mushrooms, spinach, garlic, and broccoli) served with marinara and it was sublime. Like, if you didn't know it was vegan, you'd think it was just a regular calzone. My wife got the same thing but non-vegan. She also got the Free Chunk cocktail, which she was a huge fan of. I always try to support local, but this place needs a significant amount of work. It took a while for someone to even seat us, but I always give the benefit of the doubt that most restaurants are understaffed during this time. It wasn't until we were seated that we see the staff were busy conversing with friends than making sure all is right with customers. Firstly, the menu is very pricey for such a small town. I understand that prices had to rise with COVID and inflation, but the prices of most sandwiches and salads are between $15-$20 here. This is a casual place, so the prices didn't seem to match the atmosphere. My Nashville Hot sandwich was the worst I ever had. Super dry. It took about 10 min to get the server's attention as she was talking to her friends behind us to ask for some sauce. She did bring out all sorts of sauces to remedy the sandwich, and it did make it edible. Prepare for the kids menu items to be around $10 each. In the end, she added an extra drink to our bill which was the extra sour cherry to our experience. I brought it to her attention and it was taken off. Just be sure to look at your checks before paying, as there are restaurants that have these types of added item "mistakes". Overall, I hope this restaurant gets it together as it has a very nice atmosphere and location is ideal. read more

Oh yeah. This place gets a five star from me. My crew and I had just finished The Greek Peak Winter Spartan race up at The Greek Peak ski resort. We were cold tired and very hungry. After a little searching for the right place, we came across Brix. And I'm happy we chose this place. The decor was very warm and inviting. We had a short wait in which we used the time wisely and drank beers. Our waitress was nice and timely for it being as crowded as it was. There was a bunch of Spartans in town including us :). We started off with wings and I got to say the whiskey maple bacon wings were the best wings I've ever had. It's a must try. I ordered the Three Little Piggies Stromboli and dang that thing was nice and big and juicy and just really delicious! If you are trying to decide whether or not to come here, I'm telling you, you will miss out on some good food and some good times. read more

I like Brix! Some people would say the service is slow, others would say that they made us feel like we could stay and enjoy our table without feeling rushed. My cousin and I came in around 2:15 for a late lunch and were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait. The restaurant is so cool, the whole place is exposed brick; there is a double sided bar with televisions, lots of booth seating and high top bar tables on the other side of the dining area. This seemed like a good place to come with family and also a great place to come with friends to hang out, watch a game, sit at the bar, etc. There was definitely a mix of families, college kids and people in their 20's, 30's sitting at the bar. My cousin suggested the place because she knows I have food restrictions and this place is great for the gluten free or vegan eater, which I love. (Also a great place for the eater with no restrictions.) You can come here and have comfort food but you can also come here and eat healthily and there's nothing better than a place that allows you to do both. I think the owner or manager of the place sat us and took care of us the whole time. It seemed this person knew what they were doing, ran the show type of deal and was professional, didn't have to write down our order, etc. This wasn't their first rodeo. I always get nervous when our server doesn't write our order down but I never did when I used to serve either and if you get the order right, which they did, more power to ya. Anyways, upon being seated we were asked if we had any food restrictions, I said I'm gluten free and we were given a gluten free menu, so awesome. With that being said, their menu was confusing, REALLY confusing. Let me explain. On their regular menu under pizza it said Veggie with a full description of what was on the veggie pizza. However on their gluten free menu it just said "Veggie" without any description whatsoever so you had to grab the regular menu as a guide to find out what was on the Veggie pizza. The theme continued with everything on their gluten free menu, it was just the name of the item and you had to look back at the regular menu as a guide. This was annoying because when we were sat at the table we were given one gluten free menu and one regular menu so I had to wait for my cousin to finish choosing what she was going to order so that I could use her menu to guide my order. The easy solution would have been to ask for a second regular menu, OR make a gluten free menu with more than just the word "Veggie" and actually add the descriptions. It was too complicated! Anyways, their menu had sandwiches, salads, pizzas, burgers, appetizer foods, standard bar fare. I was starving and so I ordered the gluten free veggie pizza and the Go veg salad. My cousin ordered a regular pizza. The food came out quickly but the pizzas were brought out first and there was almost a 20 minute gap before the salad was brought out. So for me, I'd think the salad should be brought out with the pizzas or first but not 20 minutes into our meal. I ended up asking our server if the salad was still coming, we were told yes and literally 2 minutes later the salad arrived. So I'm thinking it was either left in the window and forgotten about or it just took a while to be prepared, it wasn't a big deal either way. The gluten free pizza was significantly smaller than the regular pizza but really tasty. Really tasty. My cousin enjoyed her pizza also. The salad was delicious, absolutely delicious. Too much dressing but that's just my personal preference and I would have asked for it on the side next time. There was a pool of it in the bottom of the bowl. The veggie salad had asparagus, zucchini, corn, avocado, red onion and romaine and was really tasty and perfect for sharing. We ended up finishing all of our food and were stuffed. It took a while to get the check and a while for my card to be swiped but again, we were in no rush so it didn't really bother us. Someone who was looking to get going after their meal definitely would have been irritated however. My cousin said this place delivers so I'm sure it's a big hit with the college kids. Really disappointed in Brix. We were a table of 4 and sat outside. The service was extremely poor - our server took forever to take our order, forgot something every time he came back to us, never refilled waters, and incorrectly gave us the bill. We ordered cocktails, which were good. They also have a great draft list. For food, we ordered 3 pizzas and 1 gluten free wrap. The pizzas were meh - not the best not the worst but we wouldn't order them again. However, one guest has celiac disease and must eat gluten free. She ordered the wrap and verified with the server AND chef that she would receive a gluten free wrap. However, there was a mishap in the kitchen and she received a gluten containing wrap without knowing it and became extremely ill. read more

I have been a long time lover of BRIX not only as an establishment, but also a lifestyle. As a vegetarian, I appreciate equality, BRIX has never failed to spread inclusivity to us with dietary restrictions. Today, I had the best experience yet, and I didn't even make the purchase or enter the building. My dear coworker placed a group order after a long weekend of being a sexy, skinny legend intern. Considering myself and a few other coworkers got a little drunkypoo last night after a long day of being denied vegetarian food, BRIX was more than needed. She returned with the food and raved about the service, stating that each item in our order was claimed to be "the best we have ever had". BOY were they correct. My vegetarian anchor wrap completely rejuvenated my aura as well as restoring the brain cells I have fried in the past few days of volunteer work. I always say that nobody knows how hard you work unless you write it on a yelp review, hence this post. I can tell that the cook on this fine Sunday is feeling the power of peace and love from the big man upstairs. First time back in years. Not what it used to be, but still decent. Glad they survived the pandemic.

The food has been excellent up until today. Five stars plus excellent! I would suggest to NOT order online since their option availability is not very clear. We ordered a brunch wrap that is Sunday only etc ... Since the person working had zero clue how to work the computer, and it seemed no one else in the restaurant would help/cared (like, over 8 employees), he said to come back when someone that knows how to do it is in. That's not helpful when you have a house full of people waiting for food. Also, since I do not know the schedule of when the one that 'knows' will be in, it's just a guessing game I suppose. The easiest solution would have been to run the order that could be made and to make the alternative requested (which was the exact same price). You can figure out computer details after. You know, when the guy who 'knows' comes in - but you don't really need me here for that. Just a little creativity and problem solving would have been helpful for the guy the trying desperately to help - and perhaps some assistance from at least one of the other employees would have been nice for this guy. read more

Here with the wife and college son. took a few minutes to be seated when you could tell the place wasnt crowded. then took a few minutes for the waitress to come. then took at least another 20 minutes before she came back and said it would be about another five minutes. The food is really good, if you have a chance to order, it's worth it. Recently we've been having issues with their customer services. I was put on hold 3 times 4-7 mins each with no one coming back to the call. My 4th call they finally told me they were no longer accepting orders, which is fine but I wish they would have told me earlier. The other week we ordered delivery and they brought it to the wrong house and forgot a side. We called and they did not apologize but they did give a refund for the side. First of all I will never return because the kitchen is all fucked up! We received half of our entrees less than 10 minutes after receiving our appetizers of Nachos and Spinach Dip which were pretty good. If you live in Syracuse and want to meet a friend from Ithaca half way, this is a great place to meet. But we went on a game night and there was an unexpected and significant wait. The nachos were definitely above average - great topping to chip distribution ratio throughout (if you've had bad nachos, you know what I mean). The pizzas were also very tasty. Reason for the lost star was the wait for a seat and food - the staff was great, but simply overworked - and the water they served weirdly viscous. It's worth it just to order beer. Recommend three people can split two pizzas just fine. We were particularly hungry and managed to finish two pizzas and nachos but were stuffed. Wow, I would NOT ever suggest you eat at BRIX-Cortland if you need to eat GLUTEN FREE. My wife and I were in the area and did a search for GF restaurants and this place had what looked like good reviews and a large GF menu to choose from. Their prices are high but with the diverse offerings we decided to give it a try. We were mistaken. I ordered the GF French onion soup the menu lists it as GF, When I got the order it was not a tradition French onion soup as there was no croutons. IF Brix is going to alter the item they need to explain that there will be parts missing as I have had French onion soup with GF croutons at other places. Strike one I ordered the Chicken riggz GF. 45 mins later it arrived at the table with a breadstick on top that was not GF. Therefore contaminating the entire dish. Strike two. When the entire arrived 15 mins latter some of the pasta was under cooked some was cold. My guess ( and I can only guess) is they took part of the dish and threw it away and under cooked the "new" pasta and added it to the dish Strike three On the bill we were uncharred for GF items when there was no mention of this or is it anywhere on their menu or website. Briz was easily one of my favorite places to visit throughout college. From dinners, to nights out they definitely satisfy. Their cocktail the "super thirsty" was so delicious and had great flavor. From their pizzas to their pasta they always had options to satisfy. The atmosphere was always nice too. Often times they have live music going on which is fun to attend. So we drove up to Cortland last night for some Brix and again this place does not disappoint. We got seated immediately and the waitress brought us our drinks very quickly. We ordered the Whiskey Maple Wings, Buffalo Egg Rolls and Veggie Fries to start with. The Wings were amazing as always. They needed a little more sauce, I think next time I will order a side of the sauce but even so, the sauce was AMAZING. These wings are awesome, Crunchy on outside, juicy on inside, and all around just the best wings ever. The Buffalo Chicken Egg rolls are awesome as well. Their home made Gorgonzola blue cheese sauce is freaking epic and paired with the egg rolls this is just awesome. The veggie fries were actually the highlight. We got zucchini fries, sweet potato fries and regular fries. The zucchini fries where so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and were awesome. The regular fries are always great but what really stood out here was the sweet potato fries. These were the best fries I have ever had in my life. The taste was awesome. What really made the sweet potato fries was the dipping sauce It was a marshmallow maple sauce that I could eat for days. This was the best combo ever. We got the caprese pizza like we normally do and we were not disappointed. This pizza rules every time. The service was great too. The only thing I don't like is the noise. It is overly loud but that will never stop me from going here ever. I love this place and will continuously drive a half an hour just to eat here. I really enjoyed the time I spent here. This place was suggested by a friend we were visiting in Cortland. Being from Buffalo I am spoiled with many bars and restaurants. This place was no different. It was warm and inviting. The decor was nice and the alcohol selection was great. Brix must have had at least 30 different flavors of vodka to choose from! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and we found that they had decent drink specials. The bar was packed with Jets fans who had just come from the open practice. It was loud but you could still hold a conversation. I did not order any food so my ratings will strictly be based on location, drinks, and overall atmosphere.
