What a difference 13 years makes. Reading my original review, it appears that Brix has morphed into more of a bar vibe from my original review. The space is actually split into two spaces, a restaurant and a bar with a few private alcoves for groups. I liked the bar space, the expansive menu, and that our lunch entrees came with a choice of soup, salad, or fries. You can pay extra for additional side choices. Food was fine, but there were multiple service issues. Still a solid option when you want to hop off I-5 and have a sit down meal. read more

I picked up brunch from here days ago and I'm still thinking about it. I got the corned beef hash and it was incredible-- tender corned beef (no canned mush), perfectly poached eggs with a delicate v hollandaise over potatoes, with sourdough toast on the side. And it was $15??? This would easily go for $20-25 in San Francisco, so it felt like a steal too. Since I got it to-go, I can't really speak on service or the vibe. But the person who rung me up ran around a bit to find me jam for my roast and a little container of ketchup, so I appreciated that. The whole place was also clearly popular and lively. Went for brunch for the first time. We were sat quickly by our waitress who remained fairly attentive and friendly the whole time. We shared a very large pumpkin cinnamon roll between three folks, which was perfect. We each got a benny. A friend snagged the last crab benny (a special for the day) and had high praised for the quality of the crab cakes. The other got the avo benny which was the only one to come on an English muffin surprisingly, and enjoyed it. I got the PNW benny, and apparently didn't read the menu because I expected the traditional lox on an English muffin but was surprised by a whole salmon fillet across a piece of sourdough. It was very tasty though, well cooked and not overly dry. Eggs could've been a tad more jammy, but certainly were hard boiled by any means. read more

My top local restaurant in Roseburg so far! I love their happy hour (daily 2-5pm), especially during the summer when they open their rooftop balcony with a view of downtown. Good local drink selection including the house red wine from Cooper Ridge and Two Shy hazy IPA. My favorite entree is their gorgy burger, but I am tempted to try the entire menu including the breakfast dishes. Other yummy options include the clam chowder, elk burger, and smoked tri-tip philly sandwich. They have awesome daily specials too. Service has always been excellent for us. read more

My coworkers and I have been regular patrons of Brix due to its convenient downtown location near our office. We've had many positive experiences in the past, which is why we've continued to return. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing and left us feeling unwelcome. I called two days in advance to reserve a table for a group of 10 for lunch. The person who answered seemed reluctant to take the reservation, citing another group scheduled shortly before us. Eventually, she agreed, saying, "I guess we can do 12:00." I mentioned that we had our orders prepared ahead of time in an effort to be helpful and streamline the process, as we had done this before during a previous group visit. I was curtly told that this was not allowed and that it would be "easiest" if we just had our orders ready when we arrived -- which we had tried to do. When we got there, we weren't greeted warmly and felt like an inconvenience throughout our entire visit. We were only offered water, with no mention of other beverages or refills. When the food was ready, the server announced it with a loud, "Okay, you're going to need to listen up," before distributing the plates. Any additional requests -- for water, condiments, or other items -- were met with impatience. At no point did the server check in on our table. Those of us who wanted a beverage beyond water had to go to the bar ourselves. When it came time to pay, we were told to go to the front, and one member of our party ended up retrieving takeout boxes for the table. Ultimately, one person handled the bill so we could settle it amongst ourselves and avoid further burdening the server. The overall tone of the service felt dismissive, and several of us were left feeling unwelcome. While we understand that a mandatory gratuity is standard for larger groups, it felt as though the guaranteed tip removed any motivation for attentive or courteous service. Sadly, this experience has made us reconsider returning to Brix for future group gatherings. It's disheartening to feel so unwelcome in a place we've previously enjoyed. read more

Said we were not happy about the guy FaceTiming on his phone very loudly, made it difficult to have a conversation. She said he is the owner! We happened to be in downtown Roseburg and wanted lunch. I talked to our banker and she suggested Brix. Brix was on my list of places to try so stopped in to Brix Grill for lunch. We were taken up to the roof where there was a small outdoor area sign tables, some umbrellas and seating. It was very nice though the table we sat didn't have an umbrella so I was in the sun. I enjoyed the sun and fresh air. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The menu for dinner is the same as lunch so entrees are limited. We had one Hogan Philly with regular fries ($14) and a Honey Ginger Salmon Bowl with wild rice and sugar snap peas ($18). They were both delicious. The salmon was grilled on what must have been charcoal or wood because someone who touched my plate left a perfect thumbprint. It was not so appetizing and the server took it and replaced it right away. Brix is definitely a nice place for lunch and I would imagine a lovely place to sit for dinner or drinks. We three headed out for an excursion from Coos Bay to the Costco in Roseberg. Asked google for a good lunch spot and 1st on the list was Brix Grill. Two of us had the gorgonzola burger and one had the special turkey benedict. Both food and our server Shyla(?) were so excellent, we left more than the usual 20% tip (2 of us have been servers back in the day). If Brix ever decides to expand their business, PLEASE consider opening in the coos/north bend area. We would LOVE to have you!! read more
