Driving up to this spot did not set very high expectations, but we were very pleasantly surprised!!! We went in for a late breakfast and were greeted by Cathy, the hostess/server. She sat us at a tall table by the bar. She served us water and coffee right away. The menu was decent and prices were appropriate. I ordered the lighter breakfast (1 egg. 2 bacon and French toast) with an extra egg. My friend ordered the veggie scramble omelette. We didn't wait too long for our food. Cathy was hustling and working hard! The restaurant was pretty busy. We got our food and my portions were perfect for me. My eggs were cooked exactly as I requested (overhard with the yolks broken), the bacon was NOT burnt to a crisp (yummy) and the French toast had a hint of cinnamon. DELICIOUS. And I didn't leave anything on my plate. The veggie scramble was great too! We were again pleasantly surprised that the receipt had a QR code so we just paid from the table. So convenient!! I love local diners like this. Great, simple food, that serves the community at a good price. The building is super cute with a lot of friendly staff. You can sit at a bar downstairs, there's a bunch of tables in the general area, or go up to the loft where ID is required. Plenty of food options, many vegetarian options too! My sausage and onion omelette came out perfectly, with the hash browns nice and crispy. My spouses pancakes were fluffy and super sweet. And my mother in law's breakfast burrito looked delicious. Overall a great try if you're in the area and if I lived here I'd be eating at Del Rey Cafe all of the time. read more

We go to the Loft at the Del Ray as often as we can on Tuesdays for their pork tacos. They are wonderful and reasonably priced. Service is always good and the only problem is they are so popular that it can be very crowded. They are crowded because those tacos are so good and not expensive. Some friends had recommended we try Del Rey and the Yelp reviews were interesting, so off we go... Half bar lounge, half cafe and out on the edge of town... something vaguely familiar and comfortable about being in a countryside setting off the beaten path. Staff is extraordinarily pleasant, active, very personable and treated us like old friends. The walls have historical photos of people picnicking, fishing and daily life. The atmosphere is very relaxed and somewhat loud with all the talking among friends. Breakfast is served all day. The menu is nice in that it has quite a variety without being too limited or being overly large. Something for everyone. Our server was just awesome! Very comfortable, relaxed and easygoing, very jovial and seemed actually very glad to be there. Tables were bussed and drinks refilled, it was a smooth operation all the way. I was looking at what they call the Logger Burger, it looks huge! ..but then I saw a Beef Philly and being a Philly snob I had to try it. It was just about perfect with the correct cut and cooking of the meat. The melted cheese held it all together with the peppers and onions on a properly toasted hoagie roll. The mushrooms were a nice addition and added nicely to the flavor profile. The fries were cooked very well and were not salted so you can add your preferred amount if any. We shared an order of onion rings and those were a direct hit, an absolute perfect blend of a thick onion ring with a thick crispy coating. When you bite into these onion rings you get a clean separation bite without pulling the whole onion out of the crust. Well done! The flavor of the batter was excellent and they were not greasy but were very moist from fresh onions. The food and service was so good that we want to return to try a few other items. We have always been curious about this place whenever we're in the Roseburg area. My sister has lived in the area for over 25 years and convinced her to go here. Definitely will go back! I am OBSESSED with this place. I live in Myrtle Creek & would drive all the way there everyday if I could afford it! Service is always great on the cafe side I don't know anything about the bar side. This is someplace I've wanted to try for a while because of the reviews. They have a lot of reviews for their breakfasts but this is a review for lunch. We both had the fish and chips because the menu photos looked so good. This was one instance where the menu photos were close to what you got but this time what you got was even better than the photo! The fish was golden brown and good sized pieces of fish. It was absolutely delicious with really crispy crunchy edges. And a massive pile of French fries on the rest of the plate. The fries were so good!! I normally eat just a couple but these were too good to stop. That said there is still 3 of the 6 fish and 3/4 of the mound of fries to take home. Even the slaw was tasty. You can't beat this meal for $14.25. I can't wait to come back for breakfast. The table next to me had a pillow of a biscuit with sausage gravy cascading down the sides. I am not a big breakfast person but I make a rare exception for biscuits and gravy or chicken fried steak. Seriously, the biscuit looked like a pillow. I also need to come back on Friday for their house made clam chowder. Service was wonderful. She was nice and cheery and knew the menu. 5 stars for her. Wish I could remember her name. The only negative were the flies flying around us. This is the time of year they wait by the door to come in to get warm and do what flies do. Well, I tried being nice, I tried getting to know the people there... and after I thought it was a nice warming, welcoming place, I head there after a roadtrip. First thing I do is get a takeout order there and I recognize the lady at the front but not her name so I ask what her name was again. Knowing the past few times I went there, the people were inviting. All of a sudden, their crazy dishwasher lady from all the way in back, hears that I asked what her name was again. Didn't settle right for her I guess and she got angry and offended, bombarding me with "what's your name huh? Where are you from?" And staring at me intently like I came in there to harm someone... the whole workplace stared at me and my whole mind changed. Fuck the lady in the back. Hope she's fired. Short on time. Ate here twice this week. The first time, the burger would have been great but I asked for MR (M would have been fine), I got MW-W, very dry meat with no flavor. Everything else was very good. The second time I had the club sandwich. Not very good, especially for the price. This restaurant is close to our residence, under new ownership so we decided to give them a try. We ordered the Rueben and logger burger. Each sandwich came with a side. Unfortunately they were out of salad greens (we are still living in Covid times, we get it). The logger burger was huge and the side of tots would feed two ppl. The Rueben was good but not great. Could of used more meat, kraut and sauce. Very polite and accommodating. We got our order to go. We ordered on a wkend during meal time. Was promised and ready in 20 min. A very good experience. In town visiting family and happy to see this place is still alive and kicking. Stopped by for a couple of tacos for Taco Tuesday and they didn't disappoint. Are they fancy, creative tacos? No, but they're still damn delicious! Beef, chicken, and BBQ pulled pork are all $2.50 each; the fish and shrimp tacos are $5.50 each. Our party had the beef, chicken, and pork tacos. We each had 2 tacos and a drinm, and left with very full tummies thanks to the generous portion sizes. Dinner out for under $10 per person is a rare find, especially if everything is made fresh. A visit to Del Rey for Taco Tuesday will be on the agenda for any future trips! read more

An update on Del Ray Cafe. I had breakfast there today (4/12). There was only one server, Kathy. That lady was busy but I didn't hear any complaints. When I asked for something, she'd smile and say, "I'll have it to you as quick as I can" and she served all the tables (as far as I could see) quickly and nicely. Good Chili Cheese Omelet, great hash browns, the rye toast was dry but my husband's sour dough was great. (I didn't need it anyway!) Kathy was great! I hope they pay her well! I visit my mother every year for thanksgiving, and this year my cousins and brother joined us. We were there for a week and ate out a lot. We went to Del Rey Cafe because I had an excellent experience last year, and upon reviewing my last review wanted to check if they were still as good! Answer: Yes! I had eggs Benedict and I'm a EB snob. Yoke was cooked perfect, I ordered extra sauce and I'm glad I did, it was silky and wonderful. My cousin ordered the mushroom hamburger soup that was amazing. A flavor I had never experienced! Kathy was our waitress, she was excellent, food came out quick, and she was very accommodating!! I love this place! read more

There are not many decent breakfast restaurants in the Roseburg area ... my emphasis on decent. Del Rey is one of the exceptions. Over the years (I travel through the area several times a year) I've found the food quality and portions being usually consistent ... and the service is always pleasant. The food gets to the table in a reasonable amount of time. Even the prices are reasonable. Breakfast time can get very busy, and being a smaller establishment it can get crowded. That said, I've never felt rushed to eat and get out. I've had dinner here a few times, and I found the experience to be simply okay. The restaurant decor is ver simply and is usually clean, although when they're really busy they can fall a little behind on busing tables, which can be a little frustrating when standing in line waiting for a table. Parking can get a bit tricky, but not a real problem. read more
