Indy has some great parks! This is one of my faves! -The gravel walking/running trail is rarely crowded, and along it there are fitness stations with exercises reminiscent of the Presidential physical fitness Ed we used to have to complete in grade school (pull ups, sit ups, balance beam, etc). -There are benches and a gazebo overlooking the White River with ample space to spread out. -The playground is amazing with accessible equipment for different needs and ability levels. -Park benches with backs overlook the playground for tired (or breastfeeding!) parents. -In addition to the dog park onsite, there is a huge open field for dog romping or a pick-up game of soccer. -Restrooms are available at the family center near the entrance to the park. -There is an abundance of parking onsite!

Yup, it's a great park. There's something for everyone here, including your four-legged friends, as there is a huge, fenced dog park near the entrance off of Broad Ripple Avenue. We mainly spent time in the playground area this time. The playground includes many fun slides, swings (regular swings and seat swings), monkey bars, towers to climb and bridges to run across. There are lots of benches around the playground, and several huge, old trees that provided shade. One bummer about this park is that they close the restrooms during the off season (so around October through March). I didn't see any alternative restrooms, either, like portable toilets, so just be aware of this fact when you visit!

Location! Location! Location! If you like walking through a wooded space along a river, this place is for you! This 62 acre mature park has a lot of options for visitors of all ages. A family center, swimming pool and spray park, a dog park (requires a pass from the family center showing your dog has its shots and fees are associated), large playground, shelters (can be rented, but otherwise are first come/first served), and sports fields are here with plenty of space between them. There are lots of events held here too, so check out their website for a list. Fun fact #1: This park used to be the site of the carousel that is in the Children's Museum during the 1920's. Fun fact #2: This park used to have the steam locomotive that is is at the Transportation Museum in Noblesville. Review #588

Meeting new friends at the Bark Park!

LOVE the Broad Ripple Park. When we moved to Indianapolis, we got lucky enough to snag a rental house close by and it has been such a huge part of our routine ever since. Although I've never taken advantage of the pool, it's always crowded but not TOO crowded and prices are fair. They've got free zumba classes always advertised and also have yoga and spin classes. There are also tons of free festivals and concerts during the summer, and other events such as the Halloween dog egg hunt which was a blast. The trail that goes along the river is almost like a hidden gem and you feel like you're at Eagle Creek or another secluded park rather than just a quarter mile away from the Broad Ripple Strip. Really though, the creme de la creme is the Bark Park. We are there every day that weather allows. In general there are plenty of dogs there but not too many, dogs are well-behaved, and the humans are super friendly. I can't wait to see what the prize money from Beneful along with fundraising money transforms the park into!

A good little park, I am glad I live close. I have been to a few picnics here, and I find that there is always enough parking. Now on to the dog park. I bring my pooch here several times a week, and there are always other dogs ready to play unless the weather is rainy. You need to purchase a pass (daily is $5, annual is $75 or $55 after July 1) to gain access, and don't plan on entering behind someone else because we are a little too protective of our dogs to chance someone bringing an unvaccinated dog in without a pass. There is plenty of room for your dog to run around, and ample seating for owners. It's also a pretty great place to socialize with other owners!

This park outdoors has a lot to offer, but did you know about their classes?? And not JUST Zumba... they have a TON of classes to offer to all ages! And at a very reasonable price!! We are attending a ballet class and the teacher is very kind and great with younger kids and does her best to encourage participation by those who are unsure or shy and to encourage good behavior (slight discipline) and able to keep teaching even if kids are crying or screaming and being unruly... (we are in a young young kid class, and see it all...). But much dibs to her, she deals with it all and so well! And has great activities to learn ballet and have a lot of fun! Only thing I could see for improvement thus far is not to stack classes directly back to back, but to allow about a 5minute break in-between so to allow for 1. transition without missing class time and 2. ability to chat to the teacher without interrupting the next class.

Playground, walking trails, picnic areas, pavillions, Bark Park, FREE summer concerts, ample parking, Zumba & other classes in the center. Convenient. Less than 5 because the pool could use some help / upgrades. A splash area would be nice!

Frequent visitor since I have a Siberian Husky in an apartment. She knows if it's not raining, we are going to the park to play with her friends! Maintenance of the availability of "stool" bags could be better, as well as an upkeep of the sanded areas. Can't complain too much though because $75 for a yearly membership is a STEAL for how often Lilo and I are here!

A great place to take your dog on a walk, go for a run or play with your child on the playground.

We've never had anything but pleasant experiences with the dogs and their owners. I think that part of the reason is because this dog park is kind of exclusive: you need to apply, and you're usually on a wait list for a while. They keep the number of members manageable so that there's not lots of people visiting all the time, and everyone can enjoy the dog park when they're there. The only reason we don't have a membership to the dog park anymore is because our dog prefers the attention of humans, so he would just stand around at the dog park and not play. But we'd totally join again in a minute we got another dog who enjoyed the company of other dogs! This is a nice place for dogs to hang out.

There is a large outdoor play area, indoor space and a small dog area. The check-in is easy, especially if you download the app first. There are poo bags stationed liberally around the facility so picking up after your dog is easy. We had fun interacting with the other clients and their dogs. Usually there is a food vendor onsite but were between vendors when I went. I was able to carry in whatever wanted and was told DoorDash was OK, too. I didn't have a chance to check out the bar, which is a pay by ounce but several of my guests did and commented on the variety offered. There are many picnic tables and chairs for humans to gather and a mix of natural and artificial turf for the dogs to play. My friends and I have talked about going back, despite the distance for some of us. It's worth the drive. This is a great day out for dog people-fun for your dog and a chill vibe for dog parents.

Yoga was facilitated by Amanda Denny Meyer of Within You Without You--although most of us cuddled with the puppies rather than posing in downward facing dog. It's a really unique opportunity just to hang out in this space with dogs everywhere and the option to have food and drinks with other dog lovers. I've been…read morevisiting this park since I moved to Indiana more than 10 years ago, and it had stayed reliably the same, until recently. Now, there's a brand-new playground! The playground at Holliday Park has been completely redesigned as of November 2025. The new playground is nature-inspired, with lots of wooden elements. My favorite part of the playground is the loose parts area, where kids can make teepees and build forts with the collection of natural elements that are there: sticks, tree limbs, stumps, rope, wooden crates, straw and other things that allow kids to use their imagination to create. The playground is designed for all ages, but to me, it skews slightly in favor of younger kids. Which is nice for parents of younger children, because most playgrounds seems to be built for older kids. But there are some elements for older kids here, like the huge rope climbing structure. A niggling thing: There is zero shade on the playground now. None. Which isn't a big deal on overcast or cool days, but once summer comes around, this playground is going to be insufferable. They got rid of some of the trees that used to be where the new playground is, which is a shame. One cool thing, though, that I've never seen in any other playground: hammocks! There's an area near the trees with a bunch of hammocks that kids can lie in and just relax under the trees. The rest of Holliday Park is the same. There's still a splash pad by The Ruins during the summer. There's still a nice nature center. There are still lots of trails to explore. This is one of the best parks in Indianapolis, in my opinion.

There are a couple of art displays that my kids would play at a lot, and they were the more hands-on pieces. One of them is the "Twisted House," which is a wooden house that's twisted and turny, but kids can go inside. It also makes for a super Instagram-worthy backdrop! "Circle" is another piece in the ArtsPark that my kids gravitated to. It's a Zen-like sculpture composed of a 10-foot ring of black granite with a sand garden on the inside. You can't miss "Crescendo," a bright blue sculpture composed of 6,000 tiles. If you look at the tiles closely, you'll see little uplifting quotes and sayings written on them. I can spend many hours just sitting at ArtsPark among all of the art and nature. It's a beautiful place in the heart of Broad Ripple, and a genuine hidden gem of Indianapolis.
