I brought a client of mine who is just getting into coin collecting, to Broadway Coin and Stamp. Lee was behind the counter and greeted us as we arrived. He was very knowledgeable and gracious with his time. We must've spent an hour inside the store asking questions with Lee all along, happily taking the time to answer our questions and show us items. Sold a bunch of coins to this place. The guy said he would only be interested in my silver coins for there silver content alone. " We buy it by the pound" but yet the guy handpicked through my barber dimes and buffalo nickel's amongst a lot of other coins. Then gave me only $100 for the " coin lot " as he cleverly put on the receipt. So if I did want to get my coins back it's impossible to know what exactly I sold him....do not sell anything to these people. I do not recommend. read more

They tried to offer me $190 for a solid gold 1890 Victorian Coin.... Went to Cal Coin and Jewelry and they offered over $400. Do not exchange your coins here. Cracked jokes about my silver coins. I'd hate to say they low balled me because I'm female, maybe they are just going out of business and need to take advantage of any opportunity they can. Highly do not recommend this place. Wow. I thought it was maybe just me. But see there is a pattern. This is the 4th time in the shop. My 1st visit wasn't too bad. I was very new to collecting I went in and said what should a beginner buy to get started The guy said I can't give you that info. It would be wrong of me. I was taken back but still ended up buying a 10 Oz silver bar. After that visit I have not been able to get any kind of acknowledgment. I'm ignored. I ask questions only to be not answered. I said got any interesting coins . NO. WAS the Reply. I tried multiple times to strike up conversation. Nothing. I finally had to ask are you the owner. He said no. Them I reached into my pocket and pulled out a fat stack of cash and said why do you not want any of this. I come into my local coin shop for advice, insight into what to buy, and you won't even talk to me. He said all you said was you were thinking about getting into older cents and half cents. I didn't know what to say. Common man that's when you talk about the coins and give so e history. Sell them. In the last year and half I have grown my collection and spent a lot of money. They could've had a good amount of it. I hope whoever owns the place will soon realize the guy he has in there is hurting his business. It's not just me saying it. The rudest people to do business with. I ordered 70 capsules for my 1/4oz gold eagles. A few days later I received a phone call that my order was in and I could pick them up. When I went to Broadway Coin And Stamp Exchange, The very rude sales person didn't like the way I looked and would not let me in the store to pick up my merchandise and to order a few more items. Needless to say, Broadway Coin And Stamp Exchange can put those capsules where the sun does not shine. I will never go there gain and I will let all my stacker friends what an unpleasant place Broadway Coin And Stamp Exchange and to stay away unless you want to get insulted by a very rude staff........... A day later now and the answer from Broadway Coin and Stamp exchange from google review about their rudeness was a sorry excuse and they are now even more obnoxious then they were before. I experienced great customer service with Lee. He was kind and receptive toward me. He gave me info about a small hand-full of pocket change from a couple of glass jars I went through and separated for someone to check out. Turns out, I don't have any coins worth selling. We had a nice visit and it was good to meet Lee and see the coin shop. I met his dog Molly and she is so sweet! She's there every day the shop is open for business and she runs the HR Dept there as well. A big "smile" and "hi" to Molly and Lee!! Thank You both. read more

I would give this place no stars but I don't know how, It was my husband's bad experience there as we are going through tough times and need some cash fast. You see we are A Gold Star family having lost our son due to complications from wounds sustained in IRAQ. Yes our son was a soldier, not only a soldier, but a 82ND AIRBORNE paratrooper US ARMY. Anyhow my husband explained the to the guy working here and told him a little bit about our circumstances. The guy said our coins were only worth 200 and something dollars. My husband got a bad feeling and decided not to sell them Instead went to another coin and gold store in Clairemont The man there was gave us over 700 Not only that ,but told my husband he should keep some of the coins out of the set. Much like some of the other reviews on here I went in for my inaugural visit looking for bullion. The shop steward was completely disintersted in my visit, like I had interrupted him from something "important". No suggestions for me, no showing me around, one word answers to my questions. Not what I would call a welcoming experience. I guess I'll try going to Santee next time or just deal online. Disappointed. read more

I would avoid this coin store completely. They do not pay you a fair price for coins. But today I bought $200 worth of Washington silver quarters and when I got home and checked eBay they charged me 40 cents more per coin than I could buy on eBay. There used to be a nice older lady working there who was great to work with. But now there are 2 younger guys who treat the customers very unfairly. So I would completely avoid this coin dealership. read more

Went in to turn in 6 gold coins, each with a presidential face, and in mint condition. Man didn't even take a glance, and said they were worth nothing more than a dollar. I wish I would've grabbed his name but his attitude was so sour, I was distraught. Was in and out within 60 seconds, so I highly recommend NOT to come near this place. read more

I went in to try and sell some pre-1964 silver quarters and did not have a great experience. I had checked the "melt-value" before going in to have an idea of how low to go, it was at $3.84 for the day. When the man helping me looked at the coins, he simply counted them and gave me a price of $2.65 per quarter, telling me that there was no collector value to them only silver value despite many of the coins being in near un-circulated condition. When I told him that the melt price was $3.84 he said, "yeah maybe retail, I don't know what the price of silver is right now"... I was kind of surprised he wouldn't know the price of silver considering part of his business is buying and selling silver. Looking at ebay I know that there is a collector value to the coins that places them more than the melt value. Considering that it's illegal to melt the coins anyway, the only way he would legally make a profit is selling them to collectors. So when he told me they didn't have any value other than melt I was kind of upset but was willing to sell them at a discount to save me the trouble of listing them online. I told the man I was looking for $3.00 a quarter and he responded with $2.50. I double checked with him asking if he lowered his offer, and he said it was because I asked for more. I get that maybe that is a negotiation tactic, but it really pissed me off. He continued to go lower and lower each time I suggested $3.00 as my asking price. When he refused to come up and continued to go down, I decided to take my coins to another place. Maybe I caught him at a bad time, or maybe that is just how he negotiates... but knowing there is numismatic value to the coins and being told there is none, then getting an offer way below melt value (even though i know he needs to make a profit) made me mad enough to create this yelp account and make my first review. After I left him I called a shop in parkway mall and they offered me $3.25 a coin... so I guess it worked out for me in the end. read more

Tried twice to talk to Barbara in the store, both times the male attendant (different each time) treated me as though it was my honor to be in his presence, as if, and must have been, a tremendous inconvenience. I never was able to see nor speak to Barbara, hope she's not this way, but a culture of arrogance, lack of customer care is thick. Apparently 2 guys run the shop, both mid 30's, one with longer blond hair who is super nice and helpful. I purchased some things from him and he made me want to come back. I did, but this time I got the guy with the short dark hair, who In opinion should not be dealing with the public, his customer service skills were so poor. I requested to see a group of pennies from the 40's and 50's and he actually told me the box was too heavy and he refused to get them. He tried to steer me toward other easy to grab pennies, but when I could find what I wanted, he RELUCTANTLY got what I wanted. I will point out the previous week the blond gentleman was more than happy to grab some for me. So, you've got one super nice helpful man who creates business. And another, who in my opinion, destroys it and should be in a warehouse someplace so he doesn't have to deal with people. This is my first review. I was hoping that I could have been prompted to join yelp over a joyful experience, but this was so unpleasant, I just had to write this review. I wiil never set foot in the store again, there are other options, even if it means driving a longer distance. read more

I love this place and am there at least once a week. The staff are great at answering all of my questions and their prices are always fair. I was intimidated to walk into a coin store before but the staff here have always gone out of their way to make sure that I walk out with information in hand and beautiful coins. read more

Added some coins to my herd of Buffalos from here. Happened to see it while heading to a local restaurant. I'll definitely go back. Fair prices on what was on display and willing to deal where necessary. Service was great when needed and they were patient while you looked through the inventory. Knowledgeable staff and they had a little "waiting" area with chairs to keep your partner happy. I'll try them out with selling some things on the next visit. read more

I found an unusual dime couple years ago and took it to get appraised . An older man than me in his late thirtys ? , had seen my coin (it had the center of the face of the dime and shaved off in a perfect circle cutting off the year and mint state leaving the center) he had said worth about 20 bux because unfortunately it would hav been worth more if was same defect but on back side. And what do u know I did find one couple years later but was on the back of a penny leaving the center of the Lincoln memorial and I brought it in and a younger man looked at it and said definitely someone good in machine shop or something had messed around with it. And had said he highly doubted it was an error coin before looking at it.so with getting a different more premature judgement on my coin from a newer employee seemed to have confused me because there was perfect resemblance of the error as my dime , then had to find out on my own it was a common error coin? Error coins don't come with certificates of authenticity would look elsewhere next time. Thanks read more
