Nice people work here. Had a quiche with artichokes turkey spinach. It tasted fine but it was itty bitty!!! And super pricey. They should be ashamed for what they charge and what shows up on the plate. The rhubarb and berry pie was old or something, the crust was a soggy mess. And the filling was not good at all. It was disgusting and should have been thrown out and never served to a customer!!!!! Fortunately, we had a beautiful camp spot at Mill Creek Falls and enjoyed the rest of our day. read more

This small deli is a must to stop for breakfast or lunch or take out. Great homemade food. First day got sandwiches to go turkey club on rye and ham and cheese on rye LT and pickle. Owner sat at a table with us to take order. A lot of locals eat here. Great service with a smile and some chatting. Second day had lunch the Reuben sandwich was amazing also had a very good chicken salad sandwich all homemade. We also had desert the owner makes all the pies and the rhubarb pie with ice cream was my favorite. Love it here. One of my besties works here and I love it here and right. Next door is like the best shop that I go and visit like as often as I can. I'd 100% recommend eating here. It tastes amazing but definitely go there in the summer because they don't really have good heating systems and it's constantly cold. But it's otherwise that's really good. The service there is amazing. I ordered a scoop with I forgot what soup it was but with and then for my dessert I got like a pie or something I can't really remember but it's awesome there and the people were really nice and I just like 100% recommend you go in here. Tastes amazing and then afterwards you should definitely stop by the shop next door. It has like this very vintage and old style, but it's really nice. The heating systems are really loud, but we'll ignore that and like just enjoy like the kind of food there is and stuff and I love it. Here are my bestie works here and I love it! 100% come and visit think anyone would love it here but recommend coming in the summertime because the heating system's really bad. But I recommend going here as often as you can. And I definitely leave it a five-star review because like there is nothing to complain about. Okay like absolutely nothing. I love it here. The food here is excellent. Probably the best in town (by far!) Very reasonable prices and abundant portions. The place is very small and since the food is so good it is always mobbed. VERY long wait to place your order. And only one cook so plan on spending an hour from the time you walk in the door until you finish your meal. I had a club sandwich which was THE BEST club sandwich I've ever had. They have a couple of "specials" but their offerings didn't interest me. They make everything themselves from scratch and accommodated my simple requests to use my own drinking mug, to sweeten my ice tea with Torioni, and to make a melted ham and cheese on a croissant. We. Dropped in to get a cappacino & decided to have lunch. We both ordered grilled ham & cheese with corn chowder. The Schroeder was over the top, very good. The double shot cappuccino with milk/foam was awesome! The service is over the top & everyone is so grit. If you like small he dinner you will live this awesome place. That place is what you would expect from a small town. The staff was friendly and so was the owner. They were welcoming to our children and even had some toys for our little one to play with. The food was great and definitely home made. My issue was when I ordered the daily special (1/2 meat loaf sandwich) the owner I'm assuming said give him a whole oh and you can have it on that homemade bun as well. I was shocked and appreciative and the server looked shocked as well and said wow she must like you guys in which I said it must be the kids. Well at the end I was charged $2 extra for the homemade bun and at least 6 for the full sandwich. So instead of a $10 special it cost me $18 witch was upsetting. I felt robbed and secretly upcharged by a sweet lady who made it sound like she was offering it to be nice. Whole scenario ("I said I'll take the special and Fran shouted out give him the whole I said ok Fran said you can have it on one of those rolls as well so I said ok sounds good.") My dad got a urban and he has eaten them all around bend and some in Portland and Vancouver and he said that his Ruben was the second best Ruben that he has had. Ok so 2 of our 3 sandwiches were really good but holy smokes they were slow AND they seemed to be really confused about who was doing what job. We stopped there on our way to the coast. I wouldn't say we were in a hurry but we also didn't want to be waiting as long as we did. When we finally got our food and finished my husband had ordered a Mocha to go and paid for it. He reminded them three times and waited and waited--finally he came outside where my son and I were waiting for him. I went back in to get it AND THEY STILL HADN'T made it--when I asked the same girl about it she looked at me like I was nuts--I just left. We were traveling through in our RV and made a quick stop to get a sandwich to take with us. My husband and I shared a club sandwich on five grain bread and it was absolutely delicious!! Bread was fresh and you could tell the meat on the sandwich was all fresh. The Turkey breast was so good! We also got a cherry rhubarb cobbler which we will have later since the sandwich was plenty large to fill us up. Well first of all, I'm not the biggest sandwich fan in the world - but my fiance loves them. This brought us to Broadway Deli on our way back to Baker City. I ordered the French Dip. I found the meat to be just fine, but I thought the bread was too close to being the Safeway brand hoagie roll. It was too fragile, crumbled easily, and absorbed way too much of the au jus (making a huge mess). My fiance had no complaints about his Reuben. He ate every bit and then finished my Dip. I had spied some homemade vanilla fudge that I decided I must have for the remainder of our drive. Good flavor, but very dry because it had not been properly wrapped in saran wrap. I had a grilled ham and cheese that tasted good but cost $8.95, came with nothing, and was essentially the portion size of a snack. I could have easily eaten two of them. A sandwich of that modest size wouldn't cost $8.95 in a deli in LA or Chicago, why on earth should it cost so much in humble little Burns, Oregon? We were in this place on a Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m and we were the only ones in there. I can only conclude that no one in the local area can afford this place. And I note that nearly every one of these 4 and 5 star reviews is from out-of-towners. I'm sorry but if I pay $9 for a sandwich, I had better leave feeling full. Excellent sandwiches for a quick lunch, comes with a bag of chips. Sandwiches are made from scratch, and they load them with lettuce, mayo, tomato, brussel sprouts, anything you want on them. But I dont think this place is known for their upscale cafeteria sandwiches.
