I have a honda accord smog $40. try to shop around,Glad I found this spot, I didn't know smog shops can alter their testing machines to tell you you have things going on they have to start over charging. My dad always uses this place so when I needed to get my car smogged I took it here. The current technician (previous one who was friendly was transferred to the lemon Grove location) was short with me and completely rude. He hardly said a word to me other than to tell me to fill out the forms. And when I asked about the online coupon he got a bit defensive and said since I had a 2011 Ford escape it was $10 more making it $50. There were two cars ahead of me and after waiting about 15 minutes he was still working on the same car so I said I would come back. Instead I went to Auto Smog Check Center on Graves Ave. Next to the DMV. (1464 Graves Ave, #103 , El Cajon, CA 92021(619) 440-4643) I called ahead and even though the close at 1pm on Saturdays and it was about 12:45pm they said they would wait for me and that they would honor their online coupon of $39.99 (no extra charge for suvs.) When I arrived both employees were extremely friendly and my car was done in about ten minutes. PASSED AGAIN! I have been coming to this test only smog station for 12 or more years with my old 76' Chevy pickup. Evey time the owner has a friendly personal greeting. He is more than happy to answer all my dumb questions about smog test and I ask a lot. Service is always quick, they stick to the price quoted and I always leave with a smile. Thanks guys! in my opinion a TOTAL RIP OFF!! My car passed everything but the guy couldn't read a number (from the one position he tried to read it from) SO IT FAILED, "tampered" was what was on the paperwork. In his broken English, he stated "an after market catalyst converter had been installed over a number he needed". He told me to take it to this other shop and they could fix it for me. Kinda felt like it was a scam. Especially since, I did take it elsewhere and they were able to find a spot to read the number from. read more

Called the shop the day before to ask if he was available at 8am (when he opens) for a smog check. He confirmed his availability then it took until 9am (me sitting for an hour) to figure out his computer setup and why it wasn't working. He then proceeded to "call his buddy" who was "experiencing the same issue at another smog shop nearby". He used the excuse that "every smog shop in the area is having computer problems because of the state" yet when I called other shops, they were up and running! As I was about to leave, he apologized for the inconvenience and told me he'd give me a discount. Funny thing is I already had a coupon code that would bring the initial price of $50 down to $40 (these prices are for the simplest car such as a sedan), but he said he would just be applying that coupon due to the inconvenience. So, I couldn't get the price below $40 even though I waited in the shop for an hour while nothing happened and took sick time off for my job to get this done. MAY have been worth it if I was offered a free check at this point.. Guy and his "buddy" both seem like scammers who run a sketchy smog check to make more bucks than they should. I went to another smog check nearby and paid in the $30s for the test and cert. Read the reviews, and see that this guy is indeed shady. read more

Fast, friendly, and very reasonably priced. Very clean establishment and the owner was happy to know that I was originally referred here by a family member - I ended up getting a discount! He had everything linked up from my registration form so the smog check was electronically sent over to the DMV - thank goodness I didn't have to go personally send that in! This isn't a traditional auto repair place, simply does smog testing and it was perfect for all of my needs. As a long time customer, I knew what to expect when I stopped by to have my 2002 Accord tested. As always, Ray was courteous and pleasant to interact with. I expected to have to wait for other cars to be completed, but he was able to take my car right away. Based on other Yelp reviews, I mentioned that I had a brand new catalytic converter installed. He said "no problem" and it wasn't. I used the $15 coupon that I'd printed out, so I got a good price. Someone else mentioned something about getting cheap gas, but there are no gas pumps here, so I think they had a misplaced review. I'll be back when my wife's car needs to be tested. read more
