I adopted him at 10 weeks (which I believe is too young but the dog's parent were not at shelter). I was deceived by the workers who said the puppy was very healthy, he only needed his rabies shot). He seemed to have had kennel cough which I was going to make an appointment for. Sadly his symptoms were too bad to wait for a vet so I took him to the ER. Thousands of dollars later, they said his kennel cough turned into severe pneumonia and they said his chances of survival were extremely low even with treatment. I am heart broken for my puppy who was failed by the people who surrendered him and also this shelter the puppy ended up at. He also had two siblings who are currently still at the shelter who probably have severe pneumonia now too. I do not recommend Barely Used Pets.

Reaching out to Jenny prior, she made herself available to speak over the phone about their process. Their professionalism and communication with us were quite impressive. Upon picking up our doodle, we got to meet Callie's (puppy's name) litter of 4 other pups (5 total). Also, we received a goody bag with Callie's favorite toy, vet records, recommendations, daily schedule, and puppy resume. They made the process seem so simple. Unfortunately, Callie got sick 5 months into having due to an issue with her eating her stool. I communicated the issue with Wildwood Doodles and they promptly reimbursed the vet bill honoring their 1 year health guarantee they ensure with all their pups. Terrible system that requires you to set up everything through eventbright, which is a pain of its own. I volunteer at AFHS and it took going to one meeting, then going back one time and working with one of their mentors for about an hour to get you going on the easy dogs, then was just as simple to move up to the next level of dogs. I guess they must have all the volunteers they need to make this such a difficult experience.

She was a little shy at first but quickly warmed up to us and our other cat. We also use the vet service at the Humane Society as they were already familiar with her history. There are so many wonderful animals at the shelter just waiting for someone to adopt them and love them - and to love you back! We can't imagine life without her now.

It goes against the grain to hate on any place that does pet adoptions but I couldn't recommend…read morethis place less. A few days ago we were in Meowza and saw a cat we loved. We came home and put in an application through the Humane Society. We were told that Meowza wanted us to come in and see them again before we could take them home. We waited in Dayton Mall for an hour before opening the next day as not to miss them. We went in and asked about the cats and were told they were placed on hold. The shop manager had called before opening to place them on hold for "friends" of hers outside of store hours. We were told we were not allowed to see them or take one home. This was very frustrating as we had gone through the proper procedures and preparations to bring our new kitten home with the understanding we would be bringing it home after formalities. We were later told we could choose another cat for free but that isn't what this is about. We did not deserve the treatment we received there and we don't want another cat. We wanted the one we felt a connection to. While I fully support the Dayton Humane Society I will never enter this store again and will certainly share our story with others. I would not suggest adopting from here-unless you are a personal friend of Sally.

So the next day, we took her to the Animal Resource Center. I was given a short number of questions which were easy to answer. I wanted to find out if I would know when she was adopted. They gave me the (long) number attached to her. I could call in any day and give the number to see if she had been adopted. He also told us that she got a cage with a dog run, along side three other little dogs. Sounded nice. I recommended the center to a friend looking for a dog.

Theres a young punk in this county getting pups and training them to specifically attack and bite and now got someone's dog shot because of how he trained someone else dog. Now he's trying to breed said dogs to be able to do more like that but this place refuses to call back or answer
