Milena Bonilla P.A., who is Board certified, evaluated me and treated my hair and skin conditions. She knows how to treat African skin, which scars easily and is prone to hyperpigmentation. She also addressed my hereditary hair loss and the products that I need to buy to treat it. I am impressed with her results. There are many skin product samples in the office, which I have taken home and tried. I now know which cleansers and sunblock work best on my skin. Ms. Bonilla nor anyone else in the office has ever pressured me into getting cosmetic dermatology work done, like Botox or chemical peels. I strictly go there for medical dermatology, like blackhead removals and annual skin cancer evaluations. I can't say enough incredible things about Long Island Dermatology. I highly recommend.

After so much time and money wasted with facials, chemical peels and trips to the drug store, I came across some research that made me realize that I was probably struggling with hormonal acne. In comes Dr. Funt and wah-lah! After carefully examining my face during my first consultation, Dr. Funt took her time to explain her findings (hormonal acne indeed). She designed a straight forward treatment plan and made sure to let me know that my skin was going to "purge" or get worse before it got better once I started my trentinoid treatment. She explained that it takes weeks to see noticiable results but to just stick to the treatment plan and promise that I would be very happy with the results in a few months. Three months in and wow! With Dr. Funt's treatment plan (that included both an oral medication and another topical cream I had never had prescribed before), and my dedication to stick to my treatment plan as directed, my skin is better than EVER! Dr. Funt then addressed the hyperpigmentation but only after the acne was under control. I now use very little foundation and when I go makeup free, most folks cannot believe I am not wearing any because my skin is so clear and has this amazing natural glow to it. I have made an appointment with a general surgeon to have the epidermoid cyst removed. After your I&D there was no reduction in size and it is like I did not see you at all. Please send the results of the culture as soon as you get them. Sir, your bedside manner is non-existent. You lack compassion and you don't LISTEN to patient feedback. You administered 1% Xylocaine with Epinephrine. You did not wait even a minute before making an incision. The pain was severe. You minimized my complaint, telling me I was feeling "pressure" and not pain. Sir, I have had more procedures with local anesthesia than I can count. That includes oral surgery for a root extraction, bone graft and gum closure 4 weeks ago. Also Mohs S-plasty on June 18, 2024. I felt pressure but never pain. What I felt in your office was PAIN! Do not EVER dismiss a patient's feelings or feedback. I will have my other skin care needs attended to by a dermatologist in Florida when I get there. My advice to you, based on my experience and based on the comments left by other patients is to reassess what you do for a living, why you do it and if you cannot become more engaged, more empathetic and more communicative, stop practicing.
