So I really dropped the ball with this review. I usually start with a bunch of photos, but I was…read moretoo preoccupied with taking in the charming ambiance, the veteran-created art pieces, the photos and stories all around honoring the legacy of the heroes who have served their nation, and getting to meet the interesting people inside. I realize the tiny structure is perfect for what this place is all about - honoring the stories each of us holds through connection and community. The coffee was smooth and flavorful, possibly the best drip coffee I've ever had (and I have had some really good coffee!) and I'm told by my wife that the chai was absolutely delightful. A small menu of drinks and treats may make this spot slip off of your radar - but you would be missing out on a magical little place that, as the name implies, truly has heart... and plenty of it.

I love all of the natural light, music (Jack Johnson when I was there), and overall vibes. Enjoyed the pour over coffee (takes time) and they had almond milk I could add on request. Kids Food Basket…read more Fighting childhood hunger is more important than ever, and Kids Food Basket works to help feed children who are at or near the poverty level. In 2002, KFB started by serving 125 kids every weekday through their Sack Supper program, and today, they serve approximately 8,800 kids every day. EVERY DAY! One of our favorite ways to volunteer with @kidsfoodbasket is by decorating paper sack supper bags! It's fun to do by yourself, with your family, and great for kids too! Plus, you can teach your kids about the mission of KFB and knowing that by decorating an ordinary lunch bag, you'll be making a child smile. For other ways you can volunteer and help, head to their website! kidsfoodbasket.org

These sack suppers are distributed at school and taken home. Volunteering at Kids' Food Basket is fun, easy and makes a difference in your own community. To volunteer, check their website and sign up for an account. They have a calendar where you can view all shifts and sign up yourself individually or a group. The sack supper prep typically includes breaking down bulk food items into individual servings (in the past I have put granola or snap peas into ziplock bags and separated pudding cups, etc.). Shifts are usually an hour long and they go by quickly! The staff working are all very friendly and appreciative. They rely heavily on volunteers and save millions of dollars each year by utilizing volunteers. Definitely check out KFB if you're looking for a volunteer opportunity. Shifts fill up quickly, so check their calendar early and often! You can also help out with offsite projects - my friends and I got together around Thanksgiving last year to put together supper packs which consist of juice boxes, fruit cups, granola bars, raisins, crackers, etc. It was a super easy and fun way to give back while getting a group of friends together.

Constant chaos due to sloppy, inept management and a steady flow of new employees quitting without warning after only a few days on the job. The obese store manager here always seems to have only a tenuous grasp on her managerial responsibilities. Even worse, is the scrawny hag from corporate who has delusions of grandeur despite the fact that she spends most of her time doing the same grunt work and enduring the same drudgery as the regular low-paid drones. In fact, this crone's unrealistic superiority complex tempted me several times in passing, to viciously clothesline her. And just like her two other corporate counterparts, she's clownish and clueless. Add to that, the pay is barely over minimum wage, the benefits are laughable, and because SA is considered a religious entity, if you're let go or there's another scam-demic, you won't get unemployment benefits. So do yourself a favor. Unless you're a desperate low-life loser, give this slave-labor "opportunity" a pass.
