I had wanted a tattoo for many years but always had trouble settling down on an artist whose style I loved. Luckily for me, while browsing instagram I came across Ben Ervin (@ben_ervin_tattoos). It seemed like no matter what I scrolled through of his work, I absolutely loved it all! The imagery he uses and his ideas are amazing. Since I'm very inexperienced in the tattoo department, I was worried about asking silly questions or doing something wrong. However, Ben was more than kind and patient throughout our entire collaboration and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. During the procedure he made sure I was doing well and would ask if I needed breaks and was always very reassuring. I never felt unaware of what was happening which was very comforting. He's super awesome and super cool and that made getting tattooed by him even better because even though the process hurts, when you start to chit chat about life you forget about the pain. I just told Ben about different kinds of imagery I liked based off of his previous work (skulls, desert cacti/flora) and he created this amazing original piece for my upper arm that I am incredibly proud to call my first tattoo. When it was all said and done, he explained in detail aftercare procedures and how to take care of it once I got home. I am excited to make more appointments in the future and get more work done (after getting just one you want to walk right back in and get another). I cannot thank Ben enough for such a great experience and I highly recommend this shop. It has such a great atmosphere with a staff that seems so passionate about what they do. Take a look at all of the artists they've assembled and find which one best suits the style of tattooing you love. They won't disappoint! I was referred to Amy Jiao by another happy, well-decorated client and I'm so glad to have found her. I came in with my own design and explained in detail how I wanted just this exact size and mathematical ratio- showing right away that I tend to be be a fussy customer. Amy was totally courteous and easygoing, and stayed faithful to all the important elements of the picture that I had described. When it came to aesthetic choices that I had left a little vague (color shading, curves, line thickness) Amy did a beautiful job of translating my sketch into a refined work of art- she has a great sense of proportion and composition, and superb attention to detail. She works carefully and patiently and can keep up a pleasantly diverting conversation while always maintaining calm concentration on her work. I felt completely comfortable and confident in her skills every step of the way. I've passed by some tattoo shops with lots of flash on the walls, looking like the kind of places that sell T-shirts on the boardwalk; Broken Clover displays quality artwork that shows pride in workmanship, and makes sitting for a tattoo more like a gallery experience. The room is a professional working studio, with a huge storefront window for lots of natural light, and plenty of clean, clear working space. Even though my design was relatively simple, and wouldn't have fully challenged the abilities of any of the artists there, I didn't feel like my project was any less important than their own spectacular creations. Everyone there seemed to appreciate and enjoy seeing my idea come to life. I had a great first tattoo experience at Broken Clover, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Amy to collaborate on another piece or to start collecting some of her own beautiful images. read more

I've always had nothing but wonderful interactions with Johnny Jinx, although to personal reasons I've still yet to have the opportunity to be tatted by him. However this last weekend this spot ran a pretty out of nowhere fun little promo Saturday the 13th (a lot of shops do Friday the 13th) and if you dressed festively you got to skip the line. So it was a nice little way to spend my Saturday. They provided food and drink. Johnny even came over to take pics with those of us dressed up. My artist was Molly who was a lovely young lady with a nice portfolio and friendly conversation that kept me engaged during our quick session. Thanks to Molly and Johnny I will definitely be visiting this shop in the near future and I recommend anyone else in Tucson to do the same. As someone who has been to a dozen shops in AZ. What can I say? I am 65 and this is my first tattoo. Johnny Jinx performed the artwork, and I must say that he did a wonderful job! His new shop is spacious and clean. I must admit that I was a bit nervous, but Johnny immediately put me at ease and it all went VERY well. Johnny put his heart and soul into my tattoo, and it shows! He is very knowledgeable and a superb artist. Johnny worked with me by incorporating my thoughts with his ideas and knowledge to came up with EXACTLY what I wanted to portray. As he worked on my tattoo, I could see in his eyes and expressions that he was totally absorbed in making not just another tattoo, but an artistic creation. He is willing to "go the extra mile" to make his clients feel at home and be completely satisfied with the finished tattoo. I was referred to Jason by a friend of mine who had an awesome cover up done (The History of War). He explained Jason's background and how dedicated and skilled he was. I was impressed by the work done on my friends tattoo so I spent a month trying to schedule an appointment with Jason. Initially I only got two tasmanian devils done, however about two weeks later I got best tattoo work done. Originally I had a plan for a forearm tattoo that I explained to Jason during my first visit. He took a few days to sketch it out and get back to me and result was awesome! I was throughly impressed. The ambiance of the shop is awesome and the design screen they use to display and modify tattoos before they are printed out is a major bonus. Im tempted to only use this shop from now on to get any tattoos. I didnt see any unhappy customers walk out of the shop. read more

You sort of have to know this place to find it. It makes it a little more exclusive, but in the best ways. An artist who goes by the name Grey, did my tattoo. She's new, but she is a talented artist and takes her craft seriously. The owner also takes tattooing seriously which let me know this is a reputable shop. Grey was very good about making sure I was happy with her design and placement before starting, and her prep was meticulous. Being new she let the owner and another established artist see her work before I left. They had compliments and a couple criticisms which Grey took to heart. I assured all involved that I was very happy with her work and I would definitely go back once I decide what my next tattoo will be. read more

Extremely clean shop with a great group of artist. Everyone was very friendly and the caliber of work coming out of this place is top notch!!! Cannot recommend this shop enough. This is the place to get tattooed in Tucson. I recently had a mountain scene done by Ben Ervin. It came out better than I'd hoped. Ben was very friendly and professional about getting the tattoo just how I wanted it and about the aftercare. While performing the tattoo, he was knowledgeable and careful, but also really engaged me and made me feel at home. SUPER chill guy. What a great experience! My artist was Raquel Cota, who is amazingly talented artist and did an incredible job on my tattoo. This was an extremely important tattoo to me, as is was about my sister, who recently died. She designed EXACTLY what I wanted, was professional, and just AMAZING!!! I cannot say enough about Raquel! Broken Clover Tattoo is a shop when you first walk in you feel welcome and feel clean in. i've know jinx for a couple years and know he wouldnt work in any shop less than as perfect as possible. the art is amazing and super clean as well. if you want a one of a kind piece of art work then this is the place you need to go. highly recommended not overrated and professional courtesy and def a trip to remember along with wanting to come back for more. My best friend and I saw Eddy for a quick best friend tattoo before she moves. He got us in and did his thing in a matter of 30 minutes (we got small tattoos). He was very nice and had great conversation skills. (I hate when tattoo artists talk too much or make it awkward and don't say anything). This place is amazing!! The vibe here is amazing! It's clean and they have a beautiful arrange of jewelry to pick from depending on your piercing and your price range!! :) We showed up a few minutes early and they took us in without rushing us.
