This delightful restaurant had something for everyone. Lasagna, gluten free choices, salads and delicious cider.

    Lunch and a beer...

Pretty much a fan, laid back and off peak hours very relaxing and for sure, nothing fancy. Great beer selection but I am not much of a beer drinker so all I see are lots, hundreds, of bottles and taps. Cheers. The location: kind of hard to park at times, ok, really impossible to park most times. Not really sure what the dealio is? yoga or college parking but it pretty bad. This is why we had never visited, but today there were spots open and like magic, a new customer! This location has had some great restaurants in the past, but this one seems to have a good following. Ambiance: Not so much romantic, but fun. Service: Waitstaff were friendly and ordering was quick as was food delivery, but there were only 4 tables. Food: Average but perfect. Nice menu with lots of selections but mostly what one may expect form a locals beer hangout. There were a few healthy options. Value: $$ it was a bit expensive for what we ordered, but it's Bend so we just suck it up. We will be back, if and when there is parking.

The tofu bahn mi sandwich was mediocre at best. The bun to tofu ratio was out of proportion. You are basically eating a bread sandwich. I ended up taking the tofu out completely and ate it plain. A classic bahn mi includes vegetables, chili, and mayo. I would double the amount of tofu and add cucumbers and cilantro for additional flavor.

Random stop for quick bite. Great atmosphere and service. Tons of craft beer in the bottle or on Tap. Had the Pazole which was fantastic and a Ruben which was equally good I will be back

    - Nice long bar with several side tables. - Good happy hour specials, especially the $0.60 wings - Vegetarian friendly - No loud music Beer: - Not a huge tap list and it's dominated by beers I don't care for. There's normally enough to keep me happy but on one visit, there were only two out of the dozen or so that I'd order. Quite a few are too high in alcohol for me. Food: - Mahi mahi tacos are solid, perhaps a bit bland. They would do well to offer a salsa or pico as well as hot sauces. - Mango sriracha wings very good. Both mango and sriracha are subtle. - Tahini garlic wings OK. Not my favorite but they're good for something different. - Veggie empanada: menu said empanadas but you only get one large. Very good. - Turkey Reuben is very good. One of the better I've had. - Mac and cheese - ordered as an extra-cost side for the Reuben - was top tier. Maybe the best I've had and having lived in the South for many years, I've tried a lot of M & C. This is really good stuff. It's also a huge side dish. Service is good, mostly. When the counter gets busy with bottle shop orders, your server may get distracted for a while. During winter, folks coming in and out of the side door to the patio let a lot of cold air in and the door is very close to the bar. So if that bothers you, choose your seat accordingly.

Great spot to grab a drink and enjoy some brews with friends and family! We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, easy to hold conversations but lively enough where we had a great time! Definitely will come back and try more items off the menu - we enjoyed the Spaghetti Squash Lasagna and the House Smoked Tri Tip Steak Salad, both were flavorful and tasty :)

I've never had a problem parking since day one! I've been semi regular since they've opened. The menu is extensive. I tend to stick to some of my favorites as pictured. They had me at Brussels sprouts NOT fried.. tempeh and one of their many amazing sauces. I like the tahini garlic the best for dipping. Once you look at their menu you will know you can find some thing for everybody. Tonight they happened to have many dark beers on tap which made it easy for me to mix two that went together nicely. They are accommodating, courteous, patient and the food is always consistent and delicious. When they make vegan soups, you can bet it's about the best you can find in Bend.

    Dollar wings on Sunday

Best wings in town! Been a regular for over a year and this location is great! You have to come in on sundays and get the dollar wings! Make sure you try the tahini garlic! Angela should be serving there at that time and she is awesome! Holly is one of the best cooks in town! 10/10

We came here for dinner and it was only ok. Pros: - Good beer selection both on tap and in bottles. Not a lot of stuff from Bend, but there are plenty of other places with Bend beer - My wife enjoyed her tofu bahn mi Con - Expensive for the quality. With tip we paid 60 for a salad two entrees and two beers. - Beet salad was bland, veggie burger was a bit burnt, and the Brussels sprouts I paid an extra $4 for we're also bland

Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

But it is also fair…read moreto say that since Elevation has raised their dinner prices in the last 18 months from $19 to $21 to $23 and now to $30, one might fairly expect more for both food quality and service at that price than was delivered in our last two experiences here. Last term we had under seasoned food on some dishes, served undercooked on others, and warm instead of hot on still others. Elevation has now also changed their lunch service to a la carte ordering from the small lunch menu. A nice change but ordering that way with shared small plate to start, two just so-so entrees and two soft beverages brought my friend's and my lunch tab above $40. Service for this meal, while friendly, was lackluster and the food just OK. I realize this is a teaching school, so is CIA in Hyde Park and the SF culinary academy and the myriad of other schools, from big names to community college based where I've enjoyed meals over the years. I expect neither food nor service to be perfect at culinary school dining rooms and that is part of the fun, being guinea pigs for the students. But now for $30 prix fixe at dinner and the prices at lunch (fish tacos = $14, burger = $15) I expect both to be better than they have been during the last three meals at Elevation. In fact, after dropping $150, with wine before tip, for four people at dinner most recently our out of town friends commented that they probably wouldn't consider this as a dining destination next time they were in Bend given the cost for just OK food in that meal and learning curve service. We'd agree were we visitors, we might think twice before spending $60 / couple for the food alone. As residents we'll continue to go once a quarter, as opposed to twice as we did before, to support the students. But with the myriad of other dining options in Bend at this price point, it's fair to have higher expectations. Were this any other table service restaurant that raised menu prices by 33% in less than two years, diners would have fair expectations of elevated (no pun intended) return for the price increase. THIS N THAT: 1) Lunch menu used to mirror dinner menu but lunch is now an entirely different menu. Nice change. But you can also end up dropping $30 at lunch. Mains (for example, burgers and cobb type salad) are in the $14 - $15 range, add $5 if you have dessert and another $8 if you also pick from the starter menu and the total can quicikly approach that $30 mark. (lunch menu: http://elevationbend.com/menu/lunch-menu/) 2) Summer term means outdoor dining is available for lunch and dinner.

Verdict: Zydeco is an outstanding restaurant in virtually every way. No negatives to report. The place is popular - arriving just before opening on a weekday, there was a line to get in. Reservations are definitely a good idea here. Our early arrival in line allowed us to choose a good table in the back, where it wouldn't be too hectic. That too was a good idea as the place gets loud with conversation when it fills up. Music wasn't loud, just the people. The menu isn't huge but there are quite a few, varied choices. Given the meal was a bit of a splurge for us, I essentially ignored the prices, which are not trivial by any means. Fine dining entails spending money. Zydeco has a ton of reviews and as the menu apparently doesn't change, I'll just say everything we ordered was great. Cocktails too. The Bramble Down is exquisite. Service was top tier as well. Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.
