We stopped here for lunch while in town for a conference. The food was your average brew-pub fare with nothing standing out as amazing, but it was good. Well, except the wings which were a little dried out, but still edible. The fries were hot and fresh, the Nashville chicken sandwich had a great spice and was freshly made, the size caesar salad was small, but fresh and flavorful, and the Margherita pizza was one you'd expect in a brewery, but won't make you think you're in Italy. We didn't partake in beer since we were off to work in the afternoon, but looking at the menu, I didn't see anything that was for me. We were a table of 4 adults and one child. The food was a 4 but the service was a two. Our waitress seemed disinterested in service of was incompetent. Two people said they were going to share fish tacos. She said "ok I will bring an extra plate." After the meal was served we asked for the extra plate and she thought we asked for another fork. "The child isn't using his why don't you?" Then we advised we needed the promised plate. I ordered wing appetizers and she didn't bring them before the meal. After we were all served she said "anything else?" I advised she still had not brought the starters.... She offered a coke refill then forgot to bring it until reminded. The Brussel sprouts were shocking good and the expensive pretzel was also a hit. I really enjoyed my smash burger. The only thing that I was less impressed with was the chips that come with the burger, kind of flavorless. What a staple in the Oregon scene. Never actually made it down here for my bend trips, but to be honest there are so may places in bend and I dont partake in much drinking. I had to come to the original Deschutes! Came in on a Saturday midday for a beer and snack. Easily sat at the bar. Cool vibe to the original brewery! Enjoyed the Fresh Haze IPA. The bartender let me try two but that was my preference. The pretzel was delicious. I'm not a huge beer cheese fan but it was hot and delicious with the mustard around the outside. We were curious about the cask beer which apparently is warm (or room temperature) and flat- not what you look for normally in a beer! I love this place! Plenty of draft beer choices, great food, and great service! This is a very lively, fun place where you can go to chill after work, play, or just exploring the area while on foot. Food: Really good artisan cuisine, this is way better than typical "pub-fare" Their pizza is amazing too! Grab a beer, get some grub, and grab a shirt before you leave. You must go there when you're downtown window shopping. Prices: $$ What you'd expect for such a great place! Parking: This is downtown, so before rush-hour, it's not bad (be mindful of the parking time posted on the signs). We arrived on a Monday night are 630 pm and this place was hopping. After waiting to talk with hostess to find out the wait would be 30+ minutes, we opted for the 2 lower seats at the bar. We had attentive service the entire meal with a friendly bar tender. For a starter we had the marinated olives which were the right amount of briny with a hint of orange. I had the pub burger plain with fries and ranch. The burger was juicy and flavorful on its own and the ranch is delicious. Not too thin. I also had a delicious hazy to wash it all down. My husband had the smash burger which was messy but super delicious. He had their Mexican lager which was light and refreshing. The bar is quaint and a little loud but as the night wore on things settled. All in all it was a nice dinner and I would definitely come back. read more

Food was meh, service was half friendly but lackluster and half, well... rude. Had pulled pork sandwich with Mac salad. Pork was a bit salty, but ok. Mac was unseasoned and dry. When the busser came to clear the plates, she asked how everything was. I said good except the Mac was not great (and was basically untouched). Her disdainful reply, looking at it, was "well, that's a lot of pepper." The pepper wasn't the problem, and being snide to a customer who hadn't complained or asked for anything despite my disappointment in the dish was unnecessary and rude. On the plus side, the beer was good and what I expect from Deschutes. Given that there are a bunch of brewery restaurants within a few blocks, I would have expected more flavorful food and absolutely a better experience with the staff. read more

A favorite stop every time I visit Bend. While I can find Deschutes beer at the grocery store, there is something different about getting it on tap and getting to try some of the things that don't make it to the grocery store. Always friendly and always a great spot in town. read more

These days it's getting harder to find a veggie burger that isn't full of chemicals and trying to simulate "meat"; so we were thrilled when we came across Deschutes that had a veggie burger that was made from jackfruit and pinto beans! Yay! It was the best veggie burger my husband has had in a long time... he added avocado and vegan cheese (which did make it a bit pricey). Awesome that you can do many different sides including regular fries, Cajun fries, salad, chips, and more options... do wish they had onion rings however. I got the hummus plate which was good but not the best I've had. It came with a baguette which was more like garlic bread so I would have, personally, liked pita more. It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! Love Deschutes beer and have been long time fan of their beers for decades. First time going to the Bend location. Very cool spot and the place is great. Live in AZ for the last 9 years so only a limited Deschutes beers are available. They had the Black Butte special edition on tap (one of my favorites) and also tried the Obsidian nitro Stout. Wife and I shared a Bavarian pretzel and also a burger and fries. Added the smashed avocado to our burger. The cheese that comes with the pretzel is amazing and our burger was also delicious. Highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good beer and good food. read more

Deschutes is always a solid stop in Bend. The food here is genuinely delicious, the atmosphere is great, and they have a decent beer selection with plenty of variety on tap. My only real gripe was the service. Staff were cold to interact with. Despite the restaurant being almost completely empty when I went, it took forever between interactions just to get basic help. I never got a single refill, my sauces were completely forgotten, and the waitress seemed totally out of it (honestly seemed like she was on drugs). Overall, it's still a great place with awesome food and vibes, but the customer service definitely needs some serious work. read more

On a Sunday, this was one of the few places that were open past 8pm. Small town in the Pacific Northwest problems, definitely. We shared a 3 piece fish and chips and I got the reserve flight which featured 3x 4oz pours of the fancier beers - cherries jubelale which had a nice cherry flavor, Black Butte XXXVII Imperial Porter which had a very great chocolate flavor, and Abyss 2018 vintage which was a strong wine-like beer. They allowed me to sample, free of charge, the calamansi sour just to see what it is without committing to lots of alcohol, which I appreciated. The fish and chips were very delicious, a nice surprise since brewery food typically is greasy and low quality. The fish here is nicely battered and very crispy, while the fries were of good texture and the tartar sauce complemented both well. The cole slaw was decent and overall the 3 pieces of fish and chips made for a satisfying meal for 2 people. Service was good as food came out at a good pace and they brought out necessary things to make our dining experience more comfortable. read more

Cool to have a spot downtown. They have preselected flights. You can create your own for $17 and all the flights are 6 pours of 4oz. You can't order full 4oz pours on their own. This was my first time at Dechutes Brewery. We stopped in for dinner. My boyfriend was wanting fish and chips. We were greeted upon entry and seated by the hostess promptly. Our server came over and asked us about drinks. While in a brewery I felt the need to try one of their offerings, though I do not like beer, I tried their cider. The cider is more of a dry and tart cider than others I've had before. I also tried their boneyard elixir which is a CBD drink thst is more like a bubbly water with CBD in it. We got appetizers and the Mirror Pond Artichoke Cheese Dip was incredible. 11/10 - one of the best artichoke dips i have ever had. The pretzel was cooked to perfection and the beer cheese was great. For our mains my boyfriend got the fish and chips - to die for, I wish I would have gotten that as well. I got the Black Butte Porter Sausage Sandwich - while the sausage and the bun where incredible I think I would have liked it better without the arugula and cheese sauce. The food was great, but we were stuffed and couldn't finish all of our dinner. The restaurant is large and had trivia going on upstairs while we were there, the dining room we were sat in was decorated as an indoor beer garden, lots of string lights and plants. Dined here a couple of weeks ago with my sister. I'd been travelling internationally for a couple of months and had a desperate craving for a good ol' 'Murican burger. She suggested Deschutes Brewery / Pub House and we put it into the GPS. That wasn't a smart move... A few minutes later we were circling the parking lot of the brewery, proper; not the "Pub House." (Pro Tip: Check your GPS entry carefully!) Re-programming the GPS, and in a jiffy we were in the right place. We knew because we'd been warned that the on-street parking could be an issue and the on-street parking *was* an issue. We found a place to park a handful of blocks away and -- fortunately -- the weather was perfect for a stroll. So... the good: The food was average or above. The staff was cheerful and helpful, but never overbearing... The cleanliness was up to standard, and overall it was a great atmosphere. The less-than-perfect: 1) I'm allergic to beer (I know!) and was told Deschutes Pub House offers a "selection" of ciders. Not the case: They had exactly one cider on offer. (In its defense, it was a pretty good cider.) 2) The prices seemed very much out of line with expectations. She and I had a cider each; I had a burger, she had a salad. And it was north of $70 to get out the door. That seems like a lot for a quick lunch. If the prices were more reasonable I'd probably be back; there's a lot to recommend the place. read more

While in Bend for the weekend visiting and going to a concert, my husband and I came to Deschutes brewery before the show for a quick bite to eat. Our server was very kind and attentive, and made sure that we had everything we needed in a timely manner. We decided to start with the pretzel to share, and for my meal I ordered the beet salad while my husband ordered the fish and chips. The pretzel was delicious and came out piping hot. The mustard cheese dipping sauce was unique and added great flavor. The beet salad was large and actually quite filling. The dressing was perfectly tangy, and it was probably one of the better beet salads I've ever had. My husband was a little underwhelmed by the fish and chips, given that the fish appeared to be more like fish-sticks than traditional breaded pieces of halibut or cod. All in all, it was a good meal with some good beers before heading to the amphitheater for our show. read more
