I hate leaving negative reviews, but our experience at Brother John's was extremely disappointing. The service was poor from start to finish. Our server never checked on us once we had to flag her down every time we needed something, whether it was refills, condiments, or assistance with our order. Each time we did, she seemed annoyed and gave us a nasty look, making us feel like we were inconveniencing her. To make matters worse, they messed up my order, and the food quality was nowhere near what we've experienced there before. The burgers tasted like frozen pre-made patties instead of the fresh, flavorful food we remembered. It honestly felt like a completely different restaurant. We came back because we had enjoyed it in the past, but this visit was a huge letdown. Hopefully management addresses both the customer service and the decline in food quality. read more

Brother Jon's Public House is hands down my favorite spot to eat in Bend, and honestly one of my favorite places anywhere. I come here almost weekly, and it never disappoints! From the moment you walk in, the staff are consistently attentive and nice. They greet you like they mean it even when it's busy. Cocktails and beers are ordered and arrive quickly. But nothing feels rushed or sloppy. It gives off a great locals vibe that I appreciate in such a tourist town. The menu is simple with enough diversity for the whole family to come and eat. The kitchen clearly takes pride in every dish! The food itself is outstanding. I really enjoy the bison burger and you should always upgrade to fries if only to try the great bomb sauce. I also regularly get the salmon sandwich with peppers and without, and both versions are incredible! I have also tried the incredible cajun chicken & sausage pasta. Which comes in big portions and has a great savory flavor. The salads are another favorite when I want a lighter meal. They are large, fresh, and generous with the toppings! Let me say that again, the salads are great!!! And I never order salads anywhere lol. Everything I've ordered has been delicious! Beyond my usual orders, the menu has plenty of variety to keep things interesting. They serve seasonal specials, have soup of the day, and even put up new beers and cocktails occasionally. Speaking of drinks, the drinks are fantastic. My personal favorite is the Paloma Picante cocktail, which is tequila base with enough spice to make everything 'sharper' lol!!! They also just collaborated with Maui Brewing to make the Braddah Jon's Maui Lager that is worth trying! If you're into craft beer, they have every local staple beer on tap, and you'll always find something to pair with your food. The atmosphere is another reason I love Brother Jon's. Inside, its the classic loud sports bar/pub vibe, with TVs and a large bartop. Outside, the patio is relaxed and chill. A great spot to enjoy the Bend summer weather. It's also dog-friendly, which is a big bonus, there is a 90% chance you'll see a dog hanging out on the patio. If your dog isn't particularly social, like mine, it's something to keep in mind since there are usually lots of pups around. Brother Jon's feels like a true local hangout spot. The food was fresh, the portions were generous, and the staff was friendly and attentive even though it was busy. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the wait was a little longer than expected, but the overall experience made up for it. Great sandwiches. Their fries are great. Their service is solid and the club sand which is huge.

We went to the bar because my husband was looking for an old friend of his. It is a very local spot where many of the same people are there day to day. The server was very nice, and the food was not bad- normal bar fare. I was cold at the bar even with my jacket on so I wouldn't say it's a warm and cozy place. It is a little loud, but that's to be expected. I don't know if it's really my vibe, but I would return. read more

I reviewed the downtown location a few weeks ago, but this is the location I visit more often. Just like I mentioned in my other review, Brother John's is killing it! The Galveston location has a cozier vibe due to the fact it's in what appears to be a former residential home. The food is pretty awesome across the board. The French Dip is def a go-to of mine but I've been trying other things recently and found other items to be just as tasty. Last time I was here, I tried the Cuban and found it was pretty awesome. Yesterday, I tried the Pastrami Bomber. Wow! It was so good! At first, I thought the sandwich looked a little thin, but the ratio of meat to veggies to cheese and sauce was perfect. Between the bomb sauce and the roasted jalapeños, the sandwich had a generous but pleasant level of heat. I'll definitely be ordering it again! read more

One of the great local Bend spots! It was packed shoulder to shoulder on our most recent visit. Luckily enough a few minutes after we put our name on the list, a couple spots opened up at the bar. Shane took good care of us during our time. We were planning to visit to try a few specific menu items but came to find out that they now have a reduced/limited menu. Still plenty of good options. They are known for their Mac n Cheese, so we had to order it as a side. The mac was bomb. Definitely homemade. Gotta love it. We also tried the Pepper Steak and the Bro Jos Burger. Both are packed with great flavor and have you coming back for bite after bite. We can see why this is a popular local spot. Give em a visit! read more

Our lunch experience with both food and service was subpar. Really expensive lesson as prices were premium but that's the way it goes.

When we asked our Uber driver where "the locals" go, he mentioned a few places and Brother Jon's made the list, so we went for it. Super glad we did! At first glance, it seemed a little underwhelming from the outside (it was dark though) but none of that matters once our food arrived. From our appetizers to the main meals (see pictures) there wasn't one compliant from our crew. The waiter was a good guy and even helped me find something gluten free to enjoy. The chicken jalapeño sandwich on a gluten free bun was legit! The inside had the feel of a "locals" spot for sure. Hardly an empty table, sports on the TVs, people talking and laughing, all made for a great vibe. If we come back to Bend, we'll definitely look to hit up Brother Jon's again. read more

I've had Brother Jon's since the very first day it opened, and it has stayed quite consistent with its goodness. Stick with the Galveston location as there's more seating, parking and it's less cramped when you have to wait. The French Dip is my all time favorite. Mix the sauce with the bomb sauce and you cannot go wrong. The fries are absolutely the best, probably the best in all of Bend. The only thing wrong with the French Dip is that the recipe has changed since the restaurant has opened, and it's extremely disappointing that new eaters will not get to try what I would call was most likely the best French Dip in America. I know that sandwich's history there like the alphabet and it is not what it once was. HOWEVER, I still highly recommend it as it is still quite delicious read more

This place is almost always amazing. The environment is awesome and chill, though loud on the weekends because it is usually packed. The service is pretty good and the staff are very friendly. The beers keep flowing, the cocktails taste great, and they've just got the whole vibe down. The food has never disappointed us. Their ever changing specials keep the menu interesting and they nail almost all of them. I'd like to end this review by saying that we went here this week and ordered a $12 up dog. The bartender didn't even fill the customer's glass before filling two of her own to split between another bartender. So we pay $12 for a drink and get half of it, while having to watch the bartender drink the rest of it for free. Not cool at all. We have seen them drink one glass before and as long as ours is full, we don't care, but this time there was an inch missing from the top! I feel like the service is so up and down, MORE DOWN. I just went there. I sat at the bar for five minutes. I had just gotten off my bike. I wanted a water to start. I've been a bartender. It has been an expectation that a drink should be in front of someone within five minutes. I was not even spoken to the whole time I was sitting there. I left. While I was there a young guy in the bar walked by me at least five times, ignoring me. He was putting menus on tables in the bar. He was asking people if they wanted more drinks at tables in the bar. I am a regular there. How dare you. Who do you all think you are?? Why not EVEN SAY "HELLO"??? Would you all please fix this?? This is at least the fourth time this has happened to me at this location. I won't be back. Also, I will tell everyone. I've been in Bend 19 years. I went to 10 Barrel instead. We love this place (usually). It's a Friday night so we expected it to be crowded and to wait for a table. We went to the hostess stand inside to put our name on the list. I was ready to wait up to 40 minutes. So the guy at the front told us, surprisingly, that we could take any table. My husband asked "inside or outside?", to which the guy replied- "any table". So we beelined out to a free table I had noticed on the patio. After 2 minutes, a different hostess came up to the table and asked if we had gone to the hostess stand, assuming we were jerks who had just sat down at an empty table. We explained the situation and the "any table" declaration. She was trying to seat a different party at our table. We left while she told us we were being dramatic. They need better communication. Screw them. They lost loyal customers who tip excessively. But, who am I kidding - the food and beer are good and we live 5 minutes away (by foot). During a particularly busy Saturday lunch hour where everyone else had long wait times, Brother Jon's had tables open and no wait. We were seated right away. They aren't giving out menus due to Covid so they ask that you look at the menu on your phone. They have the daily specials posted on the chalkboard. Our waitress was friendly and the service was excellent. The food was really lacking, that's the reason for the 3 stars. We ordered a pretzel with cheese, the pulled pork and the club sandwich. The pretzel was delicious. It was very soft and the two dipping sauces were good. The pulled pork and coleslaw was very bland and lacked anything close to flavor. The club sandwich was enormous and was put together well considering the large amount of meat that was on it. The sandwich would have been perfect except that they put such a small amount of sauce that you couldn't taste it and it made the sandwich very dry. read more

This place was high on our list of places to go during our Bend food tour, and we made it last night before trivia at silver moon. Looking at the menu I couldn't decide what I wanted because everything looked so good! They have a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches and salads. I landed on the pepper steak sandwich which is a cheesesteak with grilled peppers and onions and a habanero cheese sauce. I got fries with it and a wide of the famous bomb sauce. The presentation was so good and from the first bite I fell in love! The flavor of the steak and the cheese sauce was so good, and the hoagie roll from sparrow bakery which is local was so soft and amazing. The fries were also so good, especially dipped in their sweet and spicy bomb sauce. I can't wait to come back to this place and try a new menu item. read more
