I was excited to give Bronx House another shot since my first visit wasn't the best. This time was a whole different story. It was a Saturday night after a long workday and I ordered through Grubhub. The food showed up exactly on time, hot, fresh and looking glorious. And it was real good. I wanted to branch out, so I ordered two meals: the baked ziti with grilled chicken and the chicken cutlet parmesan with spaghetti. The baked ziti was a win. Piping hot, creamy, savory and seasoned well. Not sweet, which I prefer. For this kind of dish, savory sauce is the move. The chicken cutlet parmesan was the star of the show. Huge portion, crispy, well seasoned, cheesy and just straight up delicious. Chef's kiss. The spaghetti it came with had its own sauce in a separate container. That sauce wasn't for me, had a sweet note and something I couldn't quite place. My daughter liked it though, so it may just be personal taste. The garlic bread was solid with hints of garlic and Italian seasoning. I would have preferred a buttery version but it did the job. Overall, the food this round was great and absolutely redeemed the place for me. I'll be back and would definitely recommend trying Bronx House. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

I've changed my tune- last week we got a bad pizza, my fault for an online ordering mistake. I left an a-hole review because the employee hung up on me... I take it back as the owner, Steve, came to my house and personally explained the situation and apologized for the crummy service. As I stated, we have been loyal customers for over 8yrs- I was quick to get upset as I have always had great service and have been beyond satisfied w the pizza. I angry-typed a 1star, but thank goodness the owner took time out of his busy day to address the customer service issue (more like a user error online order mistake). This is our go-to pizza place. Stamford has a million pizza places and I have had most of the 'famous' ones - but this is our favorite. It's a classic NY/NJ-style pizza with chewy crust and delicious toppings. We always pick up as we're close. I understand people wanting delivery because it's easier for them, but has anyone ever received a perfectly hot pie when they got it delivered? Especially with gas prices now, we're lucky if restaurants even offer delivery. I love the online ordering system and coupons that come when you order often, though they also have coupons on their print menus that you can grab when you go in. Employees are always friendly. The dough is really fresh which I appreciated. But it doesn't have the char that I love. It doesn't have the crunch that I want. The sauce is way too sweet. No tang whatsoever. Came here with several of my coworkers for lunch on a nice Autumn day, based on recommendations from one who lives nearby and is a fan of New York pizza. The parlor is a small cozy one, but perfect for a quick in-and-out type of meal. They have a variety of pizzas for the carnivores on display, but also serve other options for the "light" eaters, such as plain and mushroom. I ordered myself a Bronx House and knew that it was going to be completely devoured by yours truly once its crispy self came out of the oven. It was the most perfect slice - cheesy enough, loaded with meat, tomato-based and provides a crunch with every bite. We ordered from Bronx House again for a company holiday event recently and added a white pesto pizza to the list that was a huge hit. Although the pizzas tasted much better fresh at the parlor, the flavors were all there and everybody loved them. Coming from a New Yorker: this will surely be one of my go-to spots in Stamford for good NY pizza. read more

I am hesitant to give Bronx House 4* because at the moment it's shy of 4*s but it holds promise. And I always dismiss reviews when I read "when I got home...". Nothing bothers me more when people rate a restaurant poorly when they have take out. But I think pizza is the one exception. I digress, on to the pizza. I will start with the good. The flavors of the pie were great and the crust promising. I say promising because it had great chew and good flavor, but not great. The sauce was great, good acidity and not at all heavy. As far as the cheese goes, I'm undecided. It was pleasantly salty but was a tad oily. The toppings were fine but haphazardly scattered around the pizza with some spots on the pizza barren and others loaded. My biggest gripe is the price. The pie we got was a large and compared to the plethora of pizza joints in the area they have out-priced themselves. Our "large" (it's not larger than a normal medium from the well known places in the area) was $23 with tax (sausage, bacon and garlic). The owner is very pleasant and polite and the place is clean and inviting. But it is SUPER small! My guess is that 75-85% will be take out. I wish them the best of luck. read more

Pizza choices are original, Popeye White Pizza, Butcher Shop Pizza, just to name a couple. Sauces they use are good, really nice crust, great garlic knots. My only compliant would be that the spaghetti had very little sauce. Salad are large and I thought the Springdale salad was just amazing. Delicious chicken cutlet on a wedge! It's big, so it can definitely be split for sharing or you can save half for next day's lunch. The Springdale salad is good & their house Italian dressing is amazing. I added dried cranberries at home and it really set the salad off! I thought when I picked up the salad it was small, but I dumped it in a big bowl for tossing it with the dressing and realized that it was huge. I got dinner and next day's lunch out of that salad.
