They deal with the public in a professional manner and go beyond to accommodate the clients. I visited this office three times and had no complaints. The techs are knowledgeable and explained procedures clearly. The doctor was also professional and explained Kashmere's condition in layman's terms. The fact that they treat our pets like they are our family is significant and comforting. Their prices were reasonable and the waiting period was short. I found a Groupon for a dental cleaning at Bronx Veterinary Center, and read some reviews and thought this might be a good place to clean the teeth of my 6 years old Yorkshire terrier. It turns out to be a nightmare and almost killed my dog. When we brought my dog to the center, my dog is very healthy and has absolute normal blood test. But after I pick my dog up after the cleaning, my dog started to vomit blood and had lots of blood in his stool every day. His weight lose from 6.3 pounds to 5 pounds and won't eat anything. He is so weak and almost died. I talked with many other Veterinarians, they told me it's because of the anesthesia dose Bronx Veterinary Center used on my dog during the cleaning procedure was wrong. My dog is so tiny and only weighs 6 pounds. They used a large dose of anesthesia, which hurt my dog permanently. I felt so sorry for my loved dog and it's my mistake to bring him to this dog-killing hospital! read more

He was very detailed which I love because now I wont be second guessing myself while cleaning my dogs wound. I found this on Groupon and was honestly hesitant when I drove down here from Westchester because the appearance of this place is pretty horrendous. Super packed with people and their dogs it almost feels like you just walked in to a crack house clinic. It's also pretty dirty. That said, I was pleasantly surprised and relived once I met the doctor who proved to me with his knowledge that he knew what he was doing. The results of my dogs dental cleaning were incredible! They even extracted an infected tooth and my dog seems happier and healthier the day after. My local vet wanted to charged me 5x more than what I paid at this place. read more

When I picked up my cat last week from staying at the vet for 3 days to get liquids to treat his kidney disease I felt the doctor was a little short and in a hurry to move on to the next patient. I realize it was extremely busy but just felt he could have taken a little more time to speak to us and explain things. Last summer (2019) they were bribing patients with discounts for positive reviews on yelp and google. Cannot be trusted. I was seeing them for months with my very sick cat. I have had the unfortunate experience of taking both my cat and my dog to this horrible evil place. I've had to deal with both doctors who could care less about the animals or the owners. They are extremely arrogant and rude. Neither doctor introduces himself to you when you walk in with your pet. They do a two minute check and then leave it to the vet tech who basically is just interested in telling you prices. I have had to go to other vets for second opinions because I didn't trust the vets here. Go anywhere but this place if you love your pet and want to be respected. On January 3 2022 I took my precious princess for pyometra, after x-rays and blood work the vet said that my baby need it surgery, he said that base on her blood work that she had a good chance, I heard that the vet is very good and really care about the animals, but the vet who does the surgeries and only comes at night (has a reputation), my beloved precious princess went into surgery that night and my husband got a phone called to let's us know that the surgery went well, and that she was waking up from the anesthesia. The following morning at around 9am my husband got a called that princess was dead. The technician who helped us with the paperwork the day before explained that they aren't a 24hrs care that after the surgery pets are put in a cage, with fluids, heating pads food and water, so basically that the pets take care of themselves. When I came to see my baby the vet said that she probably went into cardiac arrest, since noone was there to see what really happened the vet was just assuming that she went into cardiac arrest, I asked about camaras and they said sorry that they had no camaras, so I don't know exactly when she died, I blamed myself bc maybe if I would have taking her to a 24hr care she would probably be alive, PLEASE IF YOUR PET NEEDS EMERGENCY SURGERY DO IT SOMEWHERE ELSE EVEN IF IT COST MORE!! I HAVE A BILLED OF $2500 THAT I STILL HAVE TO.PAY AND MY DOG IS DEAD. They are so upset at me bc I am writing reviews now the manager said that they do have camaras but if I want to see the footage I need a subpoena. UPDATE AFTER BLOODWORK: The doctor called me to tell me Mackie's potassium levels were high, and that it was very serious. He said I should bring him in for more bloodwork to verify this & if the results came back he same, Mackie should go on treatment since this can cause heart complications and failure (basically leading to death). Like any cat mom would, I panicked... but I also found this very strange since he wasn't showing any clinical signs of deterioration AT ALL. I asked for records of the bloodwork, and boy am I glad I did. Sure enough it stated in small print that the blood sample may have been contaminated. Why? Probably because of the bruising! How does this relate to the results you may ask? Because when brushing is involved, blood vessels may have been popped, leading to contamination & inaccurate results (thus the high potassium count). I'm so glad I got a second opinion and blood work done at another doctor. Blood work from the second doctor came back completely fine, with only 1 minor thing that the doctor told me not to worry about since it might've been due to stress (makes sense! since Mackie gets very stressed when at the doctors). I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: If you bring your pet here, ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS. I WONT be going back like I originally intended. Other people may love them, but they are not the right fit for me & my cat. PREVIOUS REVIEW: I took my cat Mackie here today for a regular check up (physical exam, which took less than 5 mins b/c he's healthy which was good to hear), and some blood work. After his physical, he was placed back in his carrier, the doctor debriefed everything, then said "Ok so we're going to get his blood work done & we'll give you a call with the results". That's when the assistant immediately grabbed Mackie off the table & took him to the back. I was COMPLETELY flabbergasted! The sudden shift really got me nervous b/c that's my baby! Hello! A simple notice such as, "Ok we're going to take Mackie to the back to get the blood drawn & we'll be back with him". But not even that. I was so anxious the rest of the visit, especially since the last Vet I took him to drew Mackie's blood while I was in the room. So I asked the doctor if they could draw the blood in front of me, but by then it was too late. The doctor said, "This is our protocol so we can't, but I'll see where they're at". It wasn't that I didn't trust them, it was that I know how Mackie moves around a lot. The doctor never came back out with an update, so I got a kind of annoyed about that lack of communication. Other than that, she was very nice and caring towards Mackie. 5, 10 mins pass by (seemed like forever) and I'm getting nervous. Again, the last doctor who withdrew his blood in front of me did it within a matter of a minute or two since his assistant was in great control of Mackie. I knew something went wrong. So when the assistant & the tech come out with him, "Was everything ok? That took a while...". They said, "He was fine but he did bruise since we had some difficult getting the blood out". This is normal, I know, but the bruising and the length of time it took made me really uncomfortable. I respectfully told them, "Not gonna lie, this did make me feel uncomfortable, and I would've liked if you guys respected me wishes". And the tech said the same thing the doctor said, "This is what the doctor's protocol is, so unfortunately we couldn't. But if he was here, we would've definitely told him & asked for his approval". The doctor later came out, and said, "Sorry we couldn't do anything, that's just our protocol, and sorry about the bruising". I told her, "I get it. It's just that I've worked at a Vet before, they did it in front of me so I wasn't expecting that. It wasn't that I didn't trust them". She explained, "We don't want people to get upset when they see their pets get upset, it's not that we like abuse animals never, but they do get upset sometimes". I said, "I understand. I really do. But I just could've helped them if I saw him giving them a hard time". She explained that's a liability issue b/c if I had gotten bit or scratched they would've been responsible. I get it that since I've worked at vet, but she still was not really understanding where I was coming from. I left it alone b/c it really comes down to talking to the head vet about my concern. I'm going to sending this exact review to him, with the hopes that he understands how this one interaction could change the way they communicate with their other clients for future interactions. If they change just this, they will be solid. I would've given 4 (or 5!) stars if it wasn't for this one small detail. Other than this, I do like them, and will be going back for a dental. read more

This was my first time bringing my dog to this clinic the vet on duty was Dr.Vyorst I was called into the exam room and waited about 10 minutes while Dr.Vyorst was loudly discussing something about a customer he had seen. whatever he had to discuss with his colleague was something I did not care to hear , it would have been great if he did it behind closed doors Great first impression!! This is now my second bad experience with this location. Eight months ago I took both of my pets to get groomed with pics so their was no issue. When I came to pick up my pets the haircut I request was not what I received. Please see my previous post from September. I knew I would NEVER GO BACK FOR GROOMING. Fast forward to today. I made an appointment for my senior Chihuahua who is coughing, bad teeth, and we think she is going blind. I made the appointment almost two weeks ago with no issue. When I checked in today they asked why I bring in my pet and I repeated her issue. They charge you up front before you see the doctor. This is what they did last time with grooming. Pay for the service before actually getting the service done. After I paid a few minutes later a lady came up to me and introduced herself as the new manager and said that I was banned because of the review that I made eight months ago. She said that she is trying to help and would like to see my pet but only if I take down my review. No I WILL NOT. She continued to say I care about your senior dog and I said no you only care about the image of the business. It is extremely distasteful to banned someone for speaking up and then saying we will see her only if you take your review down. I asked if I wrote a good review would you asked me to take it down and she said no then why would I take down a bad review. Fix your service and you won't have to worry about bad reviews. To add more insult they blocked me for creating another review with my previous email. After doing some research they have a multitude of negative reviews. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE 4.2 rating. This Veterinary Center is a prime example of a business that is purely money-hungry, utilizing bait-and-switch and up-selling techniques. I was directed here by a pet owner in the neighborhood after attempting a visit to the Low Cost Vet Mobile (another horrible service that claimed they were open, though the doctor wouldn't be in for several hours- that's another story for another review). The doctor we saw (he didn't introduce himself) was horrible. I paid an extra $50 to walk in without an appointment. He was rushing from the moment he began. The general examination was rushed and poorly executed. I adopted this cat from a neighbor that passed away, so I had no medical history. I requested his ears be checked out, as he seemed to be irritated by them, as well as an approximation of his age. The doctor flipped each ear back for about 3 seconds, without using a light or a tool, let alone leaning in to get a closer look! It was almost comical how horrible this doctor was. He gave my cat 2 vaccines and explained that we would need a fecal sample for a test. He never actually gave me the receptacle to collect it- though, in the past, other vets have used a q-tip or other tool to get a sample there and then. He didn't even hand me the receptacle once the "exam" was complete. I also requested his nails be trimmed because my cat is very testy when it comes to that. The vet tech took my cat to the back to clip his nails and the doctor still hadn't checked him out to see how old he was. I asked, "are you able to tell how old he is, then?" The doctor replied, "oh, right...I'll have to go look at its teeth." Upon arriving home, I see that FOUR nails hadn't been clipped AT ALL. I called to complain and the woman at the front desk, though pleasant, was definitely trying to get around the office taking any sort of responsibility whatsoever. She offered the clipping of his four nails for free if I was to bring him back in under a week. It was not in my schedule, nor in my budget to take another cab back and forth within a week, to have FOUR nails clipped. My girlfriend had some daytime free and was able to get a cash refund for the nail clipping- because apparently they cannot refund a credit card because the office appears to be decorated during, and is working with technology from the 1990's. When the doctor finished his "thorough exam," the vet tech handed me the pet carrier and the doctor let out a long sigh and asked the vet tech, "eh, alright...what's next?" Not exactly the sort of tone you want to reveal in front of a customer- and hopefully not at all. So...what's next? What's next is having to go to ANOTHER vet to get an actual exam done, which means having to pay out MORE money. A few days later, I took my cat to the ASPCA- a longer distance to travel, but the same examination price. They found out he had an ear infection- I am guessing they were able to spot it because they took this tool, equipped with a light, and inserted it into his ear to take a closer look. Wow- technology. Amazing. Never again. Do not go here. Do not give them money-hungry people your business. read more

I am extremely disappointed that I am left with no choice but to leave a bad review for the center. We have gone here for several years the staff and technicians are good although their doctors seem to give differing opinions and diagnoses. We have a kitty who has had mouth issues, plaque buildup etc and we have done several plaque removals, because the doctors said this was causing swelling and irritation which it no doubt was. This time the irritation continued after the removal so my wife and I felt that there must be other damage perhaps a cavity, or abscess etc, but Dr Katz comes in and says he's 99% sure it's seizures and there's a medication that isn't out yet that is safe and can be used to control convulsions. My wife was distraught to find out our cat had issues that were brain related, and we canceled the x-rays and waited for the medication to come in. As we waited I couldn't help but feel it wasn't seizures. I scheduled x-rays and today I dropped off kitty at 11:30 since she needed to be sedated. At 3 I get a call from Dr Katz and he says he doesn't think they'll get to kitty today. He condescendingly told me again me again telling me he's sure it's seizures but he'd do the X-rays if we insisted but if the x-rays come back normal than it's seizures. I'm thinking to myself why is he so gung ho about it being seizures. We did insist on x-rays. He then calls my wife, not me, to inform her that he's in total agreement that it's erosions of the gums and not seizures. At this point I'm frustrated and something's not adding up. Why was he so adamant it was seizures and I jokingly say to my wife you know doctors get kick backs from medical companies for prescribing drugs, she says oh no, I didn't think to mention to you but I think it's his company.. WTF?!?!? Coincidence? I'm not sure and it may or may not be but You decide... But it doesn't end there. I understand mistakes happen however the problem continued as they never told us what time to pick up our cat. Their website says they are open until 7 so my wife showed up at 6:05 and the place is locked and closed. I left several messages with the answering service who promised me that the owner Nicole would call us back and now we are standing outside of the center for the last hour waiting for a technician or somebody to call us back so that we can retrieve our pet for the evening. I am extremely disappointed I have to leave this review (and appalled at the conflict of interest of this diagnosis). I'm hoping someone calls me back tonight but as things stand they have just lost a customer that has been with them for five years. Update: no call or response from ownership, but a technician was taking out the trash and we were let in and Jessica helped us get kitty released. Jessica was amazing and shocked at what transpired. Again the staff there is great, but the ownership is absent, the doctors confused in our opinion and possibly conflicted in interest. This is our last visit and we urge anyone who has a seizure diagnosis from Dr Katz he may be right but we think you may want to get a second opinion or use all means to rule out alternate possible causes. read more

The staff, including Dr. Attlee Douglas DVM, was very helpful and accommodating; and what I would have paid for one dog, [about $300 for vacs and exam], I paid for two dogs. It was easy to find on-the-street parking with 2 hour meters, and the appointment took 1 hour and 15 mins. Even more awesome, my appointment was at 6:30pm. They are open until 8pm on Tuesdays - perfect for those who work. I went is for a simple check up and vaccinations for my 14 year old Ginger and 3 year old Walker - both pitbulls. I have been to this Vet three times to board my dog when I go on vacation. My dog isn't the most well-mannered pooch when he has to go to the vet, and the front desk and vet techs are always very understanding of this. On my last visit, the ladies at the front desk made sure a room was available before I dragged my 65lb pup into the office. The seating area and check-in desk are tight quarters, so bringing a big dog in the waiting area with little dogs already present with their respective owners can be a little tricky. So I appreciate how they roomed him very quickly, lowering both my dog's & my stress. I really appreciate that sort of attentiveness! The Veterinarians? You know, I don't really get any warm and gooey feelings from them when they enter the exam room and look over my dog. There really isn't any acknowledgements or pleasantries directed towards me unless I initiate. Very little eye contact. Poor bedside manner all around from them. I must admit, I can't differentiate the doctors (who is Katz vs the other guy) as they have never introduce themselves to me at the start of the appointment. I feel when my husband is present with me (he is usually in uniform) the vets are kinder. Chauvinism? Maybe! & even though I wasn't a direct participant, I am almost certain I witnessed one of the Vets make fun of a cat-owner who was distraught that her pet was ill before entering the her exam room. I was sitting outside of the exam rooms when this occurred. I found that very un-Vet like and somewhat disturbing? Not very empathetic or animal-loving type behavior from an animal doc... Ironic. And for those who are curious about pricing? During two of the three visits, my dog required booster shots in order to board. The prices for shots is pretty steep-$40 a shot. And you have to pay for the doctor visit each time. Racking it up. Oh, and they advertise that your dog will be bathed on the pickup day of boarding...My dog doesn't always get bathed. No biggy, but I notice everything! So in closing, my impression is that the clerical and support (tech) staff deserve much of the praise. This took me a long time to be able to talk about, it is very painful. My family brought my cat to be put down in January 2020. She had been sick for a while. We were told when we gave them her carrier that she would be given a sedative so we could have some time with her and then the vet would come in and give her the injection. After waiting a while, the vet and the tech, who didn't say anything to us not even a greeting,, came in and gave her a shot. We thought it was the sedative, but then the vet just said "she's gone" we NEVER got time with her. We never got to say goodbye. It was the most heartbreaking, inhumane thing I have ever experienced. The worst experience ever!! My doggy was sick because of a UTI. The vet gave him a prescription. After I gave to him, he got worst. He lost sense of his legs and was not able to stand. I immediately took him to an ER in Yonkers. He was diagnosed with kidney failure. According to the vets in Yonkers, they said the dose that was given to my dog was too high. There was no way of keeping him alive because he was in a lot of pain. I had to put him to sleep. It was the worst new years day ever. I went back 2 weeks later to make a complain and to let them know that this vet had put my dog in misery. Because I couldn't bare to see his face, i told the staff what happened. Horrible vet. I came in with a baby Pitbull who had a broken elbow. They over charge!!! They took xrays told me her bone was hitting a nerve and I need urgent surgery or amputation, they wrapped my puppies arm, and then I went to Morris Park animal hospital, they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with her nerves showed me her pressure points and she was absolutely fine and needed a cast. Long time ago this Clinic cared about animals. Doctors was caring about our Babies. Now it is not good at all. Less amount of Vets in the Bronx so this place is always busy! Waiting outside for hours. Lost my Dog there years ago. Had a disease. Bad one. Doc gave me medicine and we'll he is gone. Watched him die! Will never forget. No follow up or anything.
