I get my eye exam here every year, and they do a good job. I usually wear contacts and haven't updated my glasses in years. Recently though, I've had some health issues and need to wear glasses more. I used my glasses Rx that I had gotten done at Bronxville Vision Care to get glasses at Warby Parker online to make my life easier given my health and not expose myself to potential germs. I called WP to fix my glasses, and they were less than helpful. So I took my new WP glasses to John and he fixed the WP lenses and even fitted the glasses to me immediately as a courtesy just to give me a break and help me out. I could not believe his generosity and kindness. read more

In the past, I had positive experiences here, but my latest visit has compelled me to reconsider returning. Initially, it took an unacceptable 4-5 weeks for my glasses to be ready. After 3 phone calls, I happened to be passing by and decided to stop in the store. Miraculously, my glasses were ready. (So did it really take that long, I will never know). I tried them on, but I could not see out of one lens at all. John assured me they would send the glasses back for correction. To my frustration, it took an additional three weeks to receive them again. (Or did they, who really knows?) When I finally got the glasses back, I noticed significant distortion while looking at my phone and computer. I go back to the store, and he tells me I just need time to adjust to the progressive lenses. As someone who has used progressives for years, I know how they should perform, and it was clear there was an issue. He asked me to give it a week, which I reluctantly agreed to. (Whatever, I am growing tired of this at this point.) The very next day, I realized my lenses are not transition. I called again to confirm this. When he got on the phone, he informed me that my lenses were clear. I said yes, I can see that. I asked for clarification because I was confident I had paid for transitions. (He never verified) Instead, he says it would be an easy fix and promised to order the new lenses. However, it has now been over a month, and summer is over with no updates on my transition lenses. While I appreciate the staff's "politeness", their commitment to customer service and follow-through is lacking. I am extremely disappointed. With that said, I will never return. The Dr. I saw here had no idea what they were doing - after taking my prescription in various directions, I finally had to give up and will need to find someone else. They also messed up my insurance claim filing and I ended up having to pay more than I was supposed to (luckily insurance as able to reimburse me). The front desk staff is super disorganized - they never called me when it was time to pick up samples, when I was attempting to make a follow-up appointment even 2 weeks out, they couldn't do it b/c their "schedule wasn't open yet"? And they were extremely rude. As others have warned - do not go to this place. That said, Trapp Opticians on Pondfield Road West are also extremely rude, don't take insurance and incredibly over-priced. I would just skip Bronxville for eye care. read more

This place is not what it used to be. The service was horrible I had to wait almost 2 months to get my glasses because they were backed up.

Nonpareil customer serice! John, the optometrist and the store's assistant were kind and friendly and patient. The eye examination was thorough; and John has a keen eye on which glasses will frame and fit one's face well. I was able to leave the same day with prescriptive glasses that looked great. This place is going down the drain! Professionalism and commitment to the customer is none existent. Simple things like checking annual insurance benefits isn't done prior the appointment. Gwen was extremely unprofessional when I called her out and asked her why it wasn't checked prior and she cursed while walking away in front of my kid. When I told the vision practitioner that was there she said "it's old age, they get cranky" if you are cranky and miserable there are plenty of willing and able individuals who want to work. I left my daughter's glasses for over 3 weeks and kept getting the run around about when they'll be ready. Gwen kept telling me, tomorrow, Monday, oh holiday weekend... I plead with them and informed Gwen that my kid got her license and was working nights and can't see clearly while driving, we desperately needed her glasses. We had to vacation without her glasses and she was miserable not being able to see clearly. Before we flew back I called and John had no idea the glasses were there. I was pissed! I told him I would be writing a review about my experience and he begged me not to that he promised it would be ready when we arrived. I gave him the opportunity to make it right and he did. Almost 1 month without glasses. Now, we're getting the run around for my husband's glasses! Gwen says she doesn't know when John will be in the office so now we're in limbo. Now I feel like Gwen is deliberately sabotaging us to mess with us for calling her out. I'm taking my family of four business somewhere else! read more

I have had 3 pairs of glasses made here - the progressive glasses. This time I was not fortunate as the glasses they made for me were so bad I had to return many times for so-called adjustments. Finally, I gave up and went to a different optometrist and paid another $200+ but my new glasses do actually work for my vision. So, it wasn't me but it was the lousy prescription by Bronx Vision. My opinion is that the man who did a great job recently died and the new optometrist is not so good. When I went to a different optometrist (in absolute desperation) the new exam results were very different than the one from Bronx Vision. Save your money and aggravation and find a really competent optometrist - you've only got one pair of eyes - and give Bronx Vision a wide berth. read more

I went last month for an annual eye exam and new prescription glasses. The doctor was great - my third optometrist since I started wearing glasses about 10 years ago and the first who told me that I have severe dry eye. After giving me a free fitting, she told me I probably would never be able to tolerate them (other doctors didn't seem to believe me and kept suggesting other contact types or that I inserting them incorrectly). After my check up, I picked a frame with the very patient help of the receptionist and John had them ready for me with my new lens prescription in 15 minutes! Threw in UV and scratch protection for free! My appointment was on a Saturday at 10am, by 11am I walked out with brand new pair prescription glasses! read more

I've been begging and pleading with them and no results. They only want you to purchase contacts from them. Such a terrible way to run a business. There are a lot of places to get eye care with friendly, competent staff - this isn't one of them. I made an appointment two weeks out and they didn't have me in the system when I got there. They didn't even act surprised that it wasn't entered into the system, describing the person who likely took my appointment. So there was a lot of wasted time trying to be 'fit in.' The staff is strange and not the most welcoming or accommodating. The main issue is that they weren't up front about pricing. I decided to go local and get my eyes checked in Bronxville rather than the city. I needed new glasses and to restock my contact lenses and told them specifically which I wore and thought I could just order them. They charged me a fitting fee after and it was my fault for not knowing they HAD to charge this first time fee. Never mind I can get it done online for free. They were initially nice enough to cut the fee in half which I was fine with. I came back later in the day to drop off glasses to get new lenses put in, order contacts and to pick up a hard copy of my glasses prescription and to make a follow up appointment (the latter of which they couldn't do when I was in the office earlier in the day because they were too busy). Where they completely went off the rails is when Ms Russo came out to discuss the appointment earlier in the day insisting I wasn't happy. I was just trying to understand I told her but she kept pressing me, badgering really. She left, and came back to keep talking. After literally telling her 'I understand you and I think we're done discussing it" she left and then came back for a FOURTH TIME, getting crazy and saying if I don't buy contacts there I'm not allowed to keep the samples she gave me earlier in the day but she's going to be nice and let me keep them. Two things - 1, I was literally in line to buy contacts and glasses lenses. I never asked for my prescription to take out, only my glasses. And 2, what she said it technically illegal by law. The only reason I hadn't already spent ~$1k from them is that the woman at the counter wasn't bothered to help me in a timely manner. Needless to say Ms Russo talked me out of buying from them and I'll not be returning to this place. read more

I need to update this review. Because of Dr Russo, I went to the ophthalmologist to running tests and have visits and follow up visits to make sure that my eyes are fine. After spending over $1,000 going to the ophthalmologist (it is under your health insurance and their procedures are not negotiated rates- it goes towards your deductible and if you haven't spent your deductible then you are paying for numerous exploratory testing for something that is not wrong). After $1,000, I found out that I have a cataract in one eye that I have known about for years. read more

I just walked in and they gave me an eye exam appointment! Right afterwards, I picked out a frame and they had it ready in 15 mins. Because they accepted my insurance (VSP), I ended up paying $50 in total for my contact exam, eye exams, frames, and an extra smudge guard I added to the lenses. The staff were also very friendly! We went in last weekend looking for a new pair of glasses. After browsing their store for about 5 minutes and trying on a few, the guy who sits behind the counter (older white guy) shouts, "what are you doing here!?". We were just stunned. This is supposedly a neighborhood store, and we live in bronxville therefore we went there to support the local business. Terrible Terrible customer service. I ordered 2 kind of prescription sunglasses. I could pick up one of these for 2-3 days. It was ok, but the fitting is misc. Another one, it took me a month to get it. How many times I asked the guy "When can I pick up?" He said tomorrow, next Tuesday, Wednesday,weekend, another week..... How many times I went to there!!! More than 5,6 times. It was a waste of time. When I talk to him on the phone, I complained. Then he was so MAD and said to me " WHAT"S WRONG? WHAT DO YOU WANT?" After I asked his name, he suddenly hung up the phone. It is not professional at all. I have never had such a terrible customers service. read more

I totally agree with the last reviewer. This place is another gem in Bronxville. They accept VSP insurance and Dr.Russo has a great bedside manner, extremely helpful and gave me a thorough and attentive eye exam. I was surprised to be able to go home with my new glasses the same day. While I was waiting for my new glasses, two repeat customers came in and immediately Dr.Russo greeted them and paid attention to their needs. I had an appointment for my yearly eye exam scheduled at 12pm. I came in at 11:55 and sat and waited. I was seen at 12:40. I understand if it was busy but it wasn't busy. I and one other person were there and she was picking up contacts. I was not told it would take longer. No one apologized for the inconvenience. I'm a pretty flexible person but this was ridiculous. When I was seen the doctor was polite and did the exam and told me I had to dilate my pupils. At this point I have to be somewhere and this is inconsiderate. I made it clear to her that we had to go at 1:30 and she told me that was fine. I dilated my eyes (my mistake for letting them at this point). And during this time she takes someone else. Twenty minutes pass and I'm still waiting. The two stars are because I got a good eye exam. But if you aren't going to be considerate of my time then it's ridiculous. The appointment ended with me asking for a copy of my prescription. What was missing was my PD. I asked multiple times for it and was denied as "I only would get it if I was buying glasses there" That is not true and honestly at this point why would I give this place any more business? The salesman was rude and wanted to sell me glasses but at this point you don't get my business. I was be looking for another place to get glasses. . read more

Positives: Dr Russo. If this was a review based on her I would give 5 stars. If you need an eye dr, she is great, friendly, thorough, gets the job done. Negatives: Worst customer service, rude, rushed, unprofessional. My husband who is VERY understanding and patient even asked me not to return because even he was offended by the rude service when he was there with me in the past, (which I won't go over now since this review has to end at some point). Fast forward to today. I walked in to pick up my glasses which I was told, by the owner, would be ready and to return any time today for the pick up. I arrived at the end of the work day (approx 5 pm) Tony (the salesperson) was helping a couple, I walked past him to the counter to see if anyone else was there, no one was. I waited. And waited. I finally interrupted and said I was just there for a pick up (already paid) could someone please help me quickly? He said. "No" he was with another customer trying on glasses and no one was there to help. Ok...I left briefly and came back a few mins later, he was still helping the same customer. He finally addressed me and asked my name. He looked...no glasses to be found. He said it's not even the end of the day and my glasses had not been delivered yet. It was 5:05 pm, store closes at 6pm. He told me I would have to leave and wait for his call before the end of day. I reminded him it was already the end of day. I asked if once he called would he wait for me to pick up. His answer "No. you will have to get here as fast as you can once I call you." Are you kidding me? Ok, so I waited. Did not run my errands. And I finally called the store at 5:46. Twice. No answer. The check up great but when I went to collect my glasses it was a bit dusty and the gentleman there was not happy when I asked him to clean assuming they would have special cloth or spray . He cleaned my brand new progressive , anti glare Rayban glasses with a paper towel. I would have preferred a better service as I would expect clean new glasses from any vision care place . read more

I went a few months ago for an eye exam and to try new daily contacts. The doctor was great - she was very gentle and knows her stuff! Came back today to get glasses and worked with John at front desk and he was amazing. I picked frames out and he made my glasses on the spot within 15 minutes - didn't even know that was possible!!?? Dr. Russo was more thorough than any other eye exam I have ever had! The staff was helpful in picking my frames. The negative was they have a one month policy to convert your lenses for free from progressive to just distance if you have difficulty acclimating to them. I requested the change 3 days over the month policy and they would not extend it :( I will not return. read more

Let me start by saying Dr. Russo is the best thing about the entire place. She is a wonderful Eye Doctor and I was so pleased to have met her. Other than that, the experience I had with the eye glasses that I purchased there is the main reason I gave this a 1 star rating. I felt pretty much "pushed" into buying a pair of glasses by a 'bit of an aggressive man' at the front desk. They were also quite expensive. After having them about 4-5 months they began to show "scratches" and when I went back to show them, the 'aggressive man' told me not to worry about the scratches because at the next new exam I will buy another pair. Imagine ?? I had 6-7 months to wait. That being said, the glasses continued very rapidly to deteriorate. I since changed doctors and the new Dr. looked at my glasses and couldn't believe how cheaply made the lenses were. It seems the coating was peeling off and leaving all marks across the entire lenses, blurring my vision more and more each day. I would NEVER recommend buying glasses at this location. In all my years, I have never had such a terrible experience with any glasses I have ever purchased, especially at such a high cost. read more

I recently had new lenses put in frames I purchased from Bronxville Vision Care several years ago. I was and remain extremely satisfied with the quality of service. I use progressive lenses. The lenses were ready in under a week. I was able to have both sets of lenses installed while waiting in the shop. I will continue to use Bronxville Vision Care. read more

While Dr. Russo was wonderful, it has been a terrible experience otherwise. I had an appointment in November, and purchased and paid for a year supply of contacts. The contacts were never received and about every three weeks I call to tell them this and we play phone tag a few days until I inevitably become frustrated again. I paid in full for the contacts, but it has been 6 months and I still have not received any replacement contacts. It looks like I will have to find another doctor and just pay for another year supply from someone else. This will end up costing me a lot of money and a waste of time. Very very disappointed and frustrated. The one star is for how nice Dr. Russo was, otherwise I would give no stars. Be warned and save yourself the time and money. read more

I've worn glasses for 25 years and I've never experienced a worse optometrist or sales pitch. While examining me the Dr. actually shouted to her sales associate, "Did you make the sale?" And hooted when it was affirmed. I was continually given the hard sale to buy from their shop and I felt as if everything they were telling me was driven by a desire to make money off of me. When I tried to buy glasses from another store, they refused to give them my prescription until I called them personally and then denied any wrong doing. I bought a pair of designer sunglasses that broke less than a year later. I took them in and they said they'd order me a part to fix them from overseas. It's been 6 months, I've called 8 times and spoken with everyone who works there who all say "oh let me see.. so and so is working on it. I will call you back."- have not received one phone call back. I paid $450 for sunglasses only to not only have them break- but disappear! It's a small town and I lived there a long time. I would like to update my previous review by adding that the Versace eyeglasses purchased are no good. About 8 Months after the purchase, I went in to another optical store locally to purchase new frames. The optician was looking at my Versace glasses and said the reading part of my progressives were uneven, which explains why I was always having to switch over to my inexpensive readers to read. When I asked them to replace the prescription using the same frames, she said they couldn't as the frames were too old and dry. ( I do not my glasses with a spray either. I am very careful not to clean the frames with anything other than a cean cloth ) I told her I had only purchased them approx. 8 Months ago! I then went to another optometrist who said the very same thing!! My husband has never been happy with his glasses either and have found another store to do our business with. read more

Unfortunately, the optician was not able to get my left lens manufactured properly, I picked up my glasses and noticed there were some areas in the left lens where my sight was not clear. i returned the glasses to be told that they would create a new lens for me. It took about a month for the glasses to be ready only to find out there was still a section of the lens that was warped, interfering with my vision. I give them credit for refunding my purchase, but I've never encountered this problem elsewhere. read more

Terrible service, with unprofessional behavior. We were givin the "run around" with pricing for all items we were looking at. It seemed like she was pulling quotes out of thin air. The woman dealing with us had an attitude, especially with my husband questioning her pricing criteria. In the end we bought the glasses, and they fit poorly even after going back to have them refitted. My husband ended up going to a different store for proper fitting in the city. Dr. Russo is an outstanding eye doctor who consistently gives and excellent thorough exams that are not rushed but only professional and caring. She is really the best and I do not trust anyone else with my eyes as I have had others who had been in business for long periods of time but yet were not able to fit me with the right prescription eyeglasses or contacts. My mother and I went to Dr Russo to have eye exams and get current eyeglass prescriptions. Dr. Russo is very knowledgeable, thorough, kind, conscientious, generous with her time and scientific in her approach. She spotted a potential problem, and recommended following up with an ophthalmologist, which we did. It turned out fine but now we're more aware of eye risks and how to avoid them. read more
