I was told they price match 800 Contacts--and maybe they do--but if they forget to apply the price match, they won't issue a refund, even when it's their mistake. Instead, they only offer store credit. They also try to justify higher pricing by pointing to promotions like "one or two months free" or rebates, claiming it's a better deal than 800 Contacts. In my view, either you price match or you don't. There's also a lot of pressure to buy contacts on the spot. The pricing they offer is presented as a "same-day only" deal and typically requires purchasing a full year's supply upfront. My advice: ask them to print your prescription and consider buying your contacts elsewhere. Was greeted immediately upon walking in by the front end manager, who was also training a young lady. The tech handling the preliminary eye tests was professional, well acquainted with the machines and breezed right through them.... like 8 of them. I can't remember doing so many different tests on an annual eye exam. This place is state of the art. Dr Cindy likewise used state of the art machines during her exam. She also had direct access to the raw data and results that the technician had just gathered. Dr Cindy is young and very intelligent, will be practicing for many more years to come- so I think it's settled. She's going to be my primary optometrist. Afterwards, the same Manager, a rather attractive young woman, I might add- and her trainee assisted me in selecting frames and lens options. She was indeed quite knowledgeable about frames and lenses and was pointing out facts to the trainee that only a seasoned eyewear veteran would know. So, yep, as a man wearing glasses for 50 years- that sealed the deal for me. I look forward to returning in a few days for my glasses, and returning next year. read more

I was nervous to get a pair of glasses because I thought it would be really hard to find glasses that I liked for myself. I couldn't have been more wrong going into here. The whole staff was really nice and super friendly. Monica was the staff member who had personally helped me find glasses. I couldn't have been more happy with my experience. She first asked what kind of style of frame I was looking for, and than helped me find the perfect glasses for me that were also in my insurance. She really was super helpful and didn't just try to give me whatever. Monica made sure they fit my face well and that I enjoyed them. I've had my glasses for a few weeks now and I am so glad I came here, but more glad that Monica assisted me in finding a perfect pair of glasses. I was here last year and bought a new frame for my son and replaced lenses on 3 other of my frames. Please tell me why when I came to pick up my son's glasses and asked the tall blonde with the long nails, Nicole, to tighten the screws on my glasses she proceeded to take my glasses to the back only to return them to me visibly untightened. I told her they weren't tightened and she said she can't do it with her long nails and the technician isn't there. Not only that, as I was walking out, I heard her say to the ladies at the desk to no longer allow them to do any tightening or adjustments. I spent a lot of money in this place to not be allowed to have the screws tightened on my glasses. The worst customer service ever. I'll just go to the CVS next-door and buy a glasses repair kit. Stay away from this place. I went to Vision World in the shopping center 5 mins away to see if they could help me. The really nice young girl behind the counter was kind enough to look at my glasses and explained to me that they CANNOT be fixed because they are a hinge frame. Why couldn't Nicole do this for me? As a first timer at this specific location, I have to say I was very impressed with how quick I was seen and the warm inviting feeling that I had while I was there. They had everything to complete a thorough exam and felt confident should there be an issue, it would be found. On February 24, 2023, I had an eye exam with Dr. Cindy Madathilparambil because I was having difficulty seeing with my reading glasses. After a very fast exam, I was told that I had possible glaucoma and was given a referral to SightMD to see a specialist. Dr. Cindy stressed that the appointment with SightMD would prove to be more expensive as the co-pay would be more costly. When I asked if I had cataracts, Dr. Cindy did not directly answer the question. Dr. Cindy stressed that I needed glasses for driving and said she was going to prescribe me bifocals. I was then told by the sales assistant Monica that I needed bifocals- glasses for driving, long-distance, and reading. I have never had bifocals or used glasses for driving before. Monica then used the prescription in three pairs of glasses that I brought with me and in a fourth pair of glasses paid for by Medicare. Monica told me it would take some time for me to adjust to the new bifocals. I never could adjust to the bifocals and the other glasses with the new prescription, so I went to a second optometrist for a second opinion. I was told that I do not have glaucoma. I, in fact, have cataracts in both eyes. After that exam, that optometrist would not issue me a prescription because of my cataracts. An eye surgeon immediately removed one cataract and I have scheduled the second cataract surgery. I was charged $953 by Westchester Eye Doctors and now have four pairs of glasses that I cannot use because I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Cindy. Why would Dr. Cindy write a prescription for eyeglasses and charge me and Medicare for putting multiple lenses in numerous pairs of glasses if she could see my very visible cataracts? On April 26, 2023, Dr. Cindy called and offered me replacement lenses but no refund. This is useless because I will no longer need glasses. I will be taking my complaint further. read more

Went in to fix far-sightedness. I received reading glasses. To use them I have to sit 6 inches from the computer screen and not move. To change to progressives - which is the phrase they should have explained in the first place - I have to pay $160 more or lose the $360 I paid in the first place. They have a no refund policy that they don't mention. If someone runs my credit card and the no refund policy is on the receipt, I didn't really agree to the no refund policy. read more

First time using this place. Every year I get progressive glasses and as most people who use these type of lenses know, it's very tricky to get right. I love my new glasses and recommend them to everyone. They fit them to me upon receiving them and took their time with my silly questions. I read the last review and don't agree at all. My daughter and I both visited Westchester Eye Doctors for the first time this autumn, and each of us had a positive experience. My daughter, who is nine, was a bit nervous about her appointment and the possibility that she would be getting glasses. The medical technician quickly put her at easy during several eye tests. Dr. Cindy then confirmed what we already suspected -- that my daughter would need glasses -- and answered our questions readily. The regional manager helped us select glasses and was quick to tell us about a Black Friday discount as well as other options. My daughter chose a beautiful pair of glasses and was able to leave with them that afternoon. During our visit, everyone from the receptionist who took my insurance information to the person who fitted my daughter's glasses acted in a professional and friendly manner. read more

I went for my eye examination roughly 2 weeks ago at Westchester Eye Doctors in Rye Brook, New York. I used ZocDoc to book my appointment. Never have I ever experienced such unprofessional, sarcastic, and downright rude individuals from that location. It had been my first visit there and it will certainly be my last. After speaking with my insurance, Fidelis Care, and talking with the staff there at the eye doctor location, I was entitled to my free eye exam and a pair of glasses, that would be covered on the insurance plan. Fine. But I never was advised I would be getting charged $60.00 for a contact lens exam. They referred to this all on the phone to me after I went home as "updating your prescriptions." Had I been told it would have cost $60.00 to "update my prescriptions" it certainly would've rang a bell questioning why do I need to pay money to update a prescription of mine? Where is that going to? Administrative fees? Clerical, etc., but that contact lens exam was not needed. I wear contacts and still have them as they were made aware as well. This office quickly stole $60.00 from me and they did it in a way without expressing and clearly identifying that I would face a charge or that the contact lens exam was not inclusive with my insurance. On another note, I do not feel I was properly examined as the Doctor, of all people, Dr. Cindy Madathilparambil, to even ask me, "What's your current prescription?" I gave her the numbers, "OK, well I guess I'll just increase it the next strength." No exam, no looking into anything, nothing clear. HIGHLY unprofessional, and really not something to mess around with, when it comes to your vision. On the other hand, my other complaint lays with Nancy. She told me "Doctors don't work for free, and we gotta collect money." How downright disgusting, volatile, and egregious of her. For someone to say that to another person is very degrading and highly unprofessional. Amidst our conversation she did mention all I wanted were the free glasses, which is true, and I cannot afford nor do I need to afford all the pricey upgrades I was being being really sold on, pretty hard. More and more she offered these unnecessary upgrades, she made me feel uncomfortable by talking about how the frames would look, and what I'd be missing, and the benefits if I paid an extra $179 for Crizal lenses or smaller lenses, etc., the whole nine yards. I was not ready to give an extra penny. At the end of the discussion from when I was there, she told me, "Oh, and you need to pay us $60.00." Hesitant and confused I took my wallet out and paid on my credit card. Shortly after when I reached home, I contacted my insurance company and they indicated the manners and behaviors in which the office conducted themselves were very wrong, and that I should contact Davis Vision as well as the office to get a better understanding of the "updating prescriptions." I then did and that is when the conversation of "Doctors don't work for free," and "We gotta collect money" occurred. This has been such a distasteful experience and a very saddening and shocking one. I never felt so pressured and pushed around before; I do not feel comfortable and I am upset with how things have occurred and still cannot come to an understanding WHY it even had to be this way. I paid for some unexplained services, I was pressured into sales because she put down the insurance saying I wouldn't be getting the things I really needed, and I was pressured by Nancy most of all, and I was put down by her and the office.
