I tried Raymond Opticians and Leslie picked out a few frames that fit like the more expensive frames with longer ear pieces (just what I needed) and the frames were very comfortable also. They never answer their phones! Optician is only there 4 hrs a *week.* We could deal with all that but the employee Lindsay was so rude to my son, he asked me to pick up his prescription (which took over a month to fill) so he wouldn't have to go back. I have shopped at Raymond Opticians in Larchmont off and on for years. When I lived in Larchmont, it was my go-to place. My Rx is complicated, but the results were always spot on. They had a large enough inventory so I was always able to find a pair of glasses that suited me. When I used to roughhouse with my kids, my glasses would always get knocked out of alignment and Scott had the magic ability to get them adjusted. I moved away in 2017. I was in need of a new pair of glasses recently (2022), and was unable to find ANY place near where I live that had appointment availability within the next 3 months. Met with Dr. Collins for an eye test. She was extremely warm, friendly and inviting. Don't let that belie her competence. She assessed my eyesight perfectly. And then there was Scott who is the optician and really well-versed in accommodating tastes in frames and timelines. Just don't go here. Trust me. When something goes even slightly wrong, it's a disaster (which for me was frequently since they can't control their own quality). They remade my glasses twice - first time they admitted the optometrist wrote down the wrong prescription, second time they the lenses just didn't match my prescription. I brought the second pair to 2 other optometrists who confirmed the prescription they gave me did not match the lenses in the frames. When pointing this out to them, they refused to refund me for the lenses saying "they already made them twice" - even though the first time was self-admittedly due to their optometrist's error. Despite not being able to see out of the second pair, they insisted it was right and only refunded me for the frame. I paid $325 for lenses I can never wear! Because "unfortunately they are non-refundable". Seriously, if you are on the fence, just go somewhere else, there are way better places in the area. read more

This place might be OK for someone who wants to make eyeglasses but definitely not for contact lens users. Avoid. First, the biggest problem is that the eye doctor is available only 4 hours A WEEK, 3-5 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Appointments are always full. You'll be like waiting a couple of weeks for the first appointment, another couple of weeks to get a prescription revised.... It won't work for busy business people. Second, they are so dishonest that they don't readily give doctor's prescription. You will need to speak out that not giving prescription to the patients is ILLEGAL. Third, the doctor is not attentive to individual situations of patients. She looked like doing routine work without deeply thinking. Finally, a female shop clerk I talked to was rude and irresponsible. She looked reluctant to answer my questions, giving no useful piece of information to me. read more
