Second time here and we enjoyed our stay again. The king bed is huge and our room was clean. If you are expecting a 5 start luxury hotel this is not it but it is cute and it has personality. The diner is nice and the bar had great music and friendly bartenders. I do wish one day someone will re do the whole brook room and pool area. So much history in this hotel, I'd love to see a comeback! I'm sure we will be back. I'm

Honestly this lodge is about you get what you pay for. We ended up here because they allow dogs and it's cheap. They have newer furniture, nice TVs, and typical motel carpet. Wasn't the cleanest but could have been dirtier. Patio needs a nice good wipe down, walls could use a wipe down, shower heads didn't work well, fridge didn't work at all and microwave was so rusted we didn't want to use it because it seemed to be a fire hazard. Overall grounds needs a good clean. Cigarette butts and random stuff all over outside. Staff was nice, location in the trees was beautiful, and it was super quiet. Would I stay here again? Probably because they allow dogs and it's cheap. I did let the staff know about the microwave and he said they would get it taken care of.

I'm so sad to be leaving this review. I've been coming to Brookdale Lodge for many years now, but this last trip really took the cake. I've always loved the atmosphere outside the hotel, but the inside has ruined just about everything for me. I now have a 1yr old son, so as any real mother, safety is my main concern. My son was almost crushed by this heavy mirror hanging by a thread, almost grabbed this disgusting spoon & filth left in the fridge, and exposed to mold during bath time all in one weekend. The floors are damp & disgusting, and everything basically falling apart. The tv is extremely bright & the remote is blocked from trying to lower the settings. When I mentioned all this during checkout, they listened & blinked, that was it. Extremely disappointed, I won't be returning or referring anyone ever again. It's an embarrassment, this place has potential & makes plenty of money so the bottom line is, they just don't care.

We stayed here for the Witches Ball for Halloween. What a treasure. The entire experience was a treat! The staff is friendly and helpful. Rose Bud answered all of our questions and made some great suggestions for the stay. The rooms are newly remodeled. They are spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable and made for a restful nights sleep. As a bonus, the diner served midnight pancakes at the end of the night for the event. They were fabulous!

We call the front desk right away. Talk to the "manager" a short man that checked us in . Told him about the door and towels. Took forever to get the new towels and god knows what else they didn't clean in the room. Asked for another room and they couldn't do it. Asked for someone to fix the door so I can shit with the door closed. I was denied. The short manager in the phone when asked if we can then get a discount on the room said yes to speak with him in the morning. Morning checkout came and no discount. Was told since they supplied new towels and that they were going to eventually fix the door so there was nothing g to discount. I could not believe it. We have been going to brookdale for years and this will be our last time. That shirt little man is a fucking joke and should be fired.

Came for the spooky and did not disappoint. So grateful to finally found some time to check out this property. The grounds were beautiful surrounded by giant trees and a babbling brook. Front desk staff was gracious and were very kind and helpful. The room was super clean and the beds were very comfortable, I slept like a rock. The rooms all had roomy balconies, coffee maker, microwaves, and mini fridge. Unfortunately it was off season so there wasn't any dining onsite but there was a general store with snacks and drinks open until 9. ( Boulder Creek and Ben Lemond are close by with adorable dining option's.) I would love to come back when the pool and the brook room are open again. I really hope the owner is able to referb it to its former glory. It's really a special and unique property and It would be awful to loose a slice of history. And if you forget a cork screw, the nice lady in the general store is happy to help

Sitah and Dale (the owners) and their staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Their affable mien, as well as their superb culinary skills, made our stay memorable and deeply satisfying. I am so delighted to now say that Sitah and Dale made the most special day of my life a total dream. After searching up and down the California coast for a place to get married that felt "right", I was feeling pretty disheartened and was ready to throw in the towel. But, on a whim, we decided to take a trek to Bonny Doon on our way to another venue location and I happened upon the Redwood Croft for a potential place for out of town guests to stay. And wouldn't you know it, they mentioned they host events on their website! My now husband and I took a day and drove down the coast from San Mateo and stopped in to chat with Sitah about her home. The place was (is!) stunning and from the moment we set foot on the grounds, we knew it was the perfect place to get married. Sitah and Dale charge a reasonable amount for the 2 night rental of their whole B&B, plus having nearly 100 people on-site for a wedding! It was so magical to spend the night there before the wedding, then to wake up and eat Sitah's homemade blueberry pancakes (which she made a batch gluten free for me! So amazing!) and spend the rest of the day primping and relaxing before we said "I do!" on their beautiful back lawn and garden. They made everything go so smoothly and they opened their home to my family for the weekend -- it made the wedding weekend just sublime. Before we had our big day, the hub and I spent an impromptu overnighter at the Croft, just to get a feel for it. Our night was peaceful (we stayed in the East Room) and I can't wait to go back now and spend special weekends and anniversaries there. Thank you, Sitah and Dale, for making our day a true piece of romance. Our memories will be sweet and our life will be grand and you had a hand in making that come true for us!

Poor Service, Hidden Fees, and a $300 Smoking Fee Charged to Non-Smokers…read more My stay was extremely disappointing and reflects a breakdown in basic service standards and billing practices. During the stay, there were no towels available at the pool, daily room cleaning was not provided, parking transactions included additional service fees, and coffee from the lobby/breakfast area carried a $5 charge. These issues were inconvenient, but the primary concern arose after checkout. After departure, I was charged a $300 smoking fee based solely on an air quality and humidity detector reading. I do not smoke. During the timeframe in question, I was using a small water-based clothing steamer to remove wrinkles from clothing after travel. The charge was not disclosed at checkout, and no physical evidence of smoking was provided. Hotel staff acknowledged that these types of sensors can be triggered by factors unrelated to smoking. Despite this, no independent review or investigation was conducted, and no additional evidence beyond the detector reading was provided. I was directed to dispute the charge through my credit card issuer. I escalated the matter to Hilton corporate customer service, but the case was redirected back to the same property without independent review. The General Manager did not respond to multiple outreach attempts, including email and a request for a callback. After researching, I found similar complaints from other guests regarding smoking fee disputes at this property, raising concerns about how these charges are determined and reviewed, and the reliability of the technology being used. I support non-smoking policies; however, issuing significant charges based solely on a sensor reading without supporting evidence or meaningful review is not acceptable. This experience has significantly impacted my confidence in both this property and the consistency of issue resolution within the Hilton brand. I would still welcome a fair review of this charge and a good-faith effort to resolve the matter appropriately.

When I asked if I could add a night now that I was there in person, they said they were booked out and didn't have any availability. I went online and reserved the extra night again and showed them in the front. They were then able to add the night to my stay. I was not only upset that they couldn't add a night over the phone (especially because after the fact, when I was checking in, there was a staff member on the phone setting up a reservation for someone) like all hotels do, but to be told that they were fully booked when in fact they were not, made me feel unwelcome. The staff seemed to not know what they were doing, other than one man in the front, he seemed to be the only one who could answer our questions and get everything sorted out. He also gave us water bottles for free, which we appreciated. There was one night that we returned to our room and the door was propped open like someone had been in there. This was unsettling and we had to check the room to see if everything was still where we had left it, nothing had been placed in the room, and no one was in there that shouldn't have been. Note that if the parking lot up top is full, you'll need to park under the hotel in a parking garage that has signs posted about them not being responsible if your car or items are damaged. This was worrisome especially because the garage gave a sort of eerie vibe. The World Cup games were on and there were people at the bar watching the game. The food selection is slim. The restaurant itself is only open during certain times of the day. There was a man who was walking around our room window with a phone. This was extremely unsettling because I began to wonder if the windows are see through. You can see out of them, through the curtains when in the room, but I'm not sure if that applies to the outside view as well. I felt like my privacy wasn't protected. This was an interesting experience to say the least and I am saddened that our coastal trip had added unnecessary stress because of where we stayed.

Beware of this company, they do not take care of their tenants, or do their job, which in it's most basic form would be to make sure the house is ready to be moved into on the agreed upon move-in date. I feel like I've been fighting with property management since the day I moved in a month ago, and it will probably take another month of back and forth ridiculous communication before I get all the things I paid $11k for to be done before the agreed upon move-in date. Here is a list of things I've dealt with, I am leaving them here so that others know what to look out for. The entire house was filthy on move in day, had not been professional cleaned for a move-in. It still has not, over a month later, partially due to them not getting communication right with the cleaners they finally sent, partially due to me being busy and out of town and not having the time to deal with it. They did illegally send cleaners into my home without my permission while I was on a trip, and still not clean. The landlord had agreed to moved out a bunch of his old furniture to make space for my stuff, and half of what was agreed upon to get moved was still in the house on Nov 1st. I moved it to the deck, for him to come and get, then told property management to get a tarp to cover it, so it would not get rained on. They never took care of the tarp, so it did rain on the furniture, one night I had to dragged mattresses into the house by myself. I went out and bought a trap the next day and they are now refusing to reimburse me for the tarp. The house was advertised with a hot tub, and it is broken, come to find out it has not been turned on for 2 years, which PM did not know, but the landlord did know. They put in the lease, that if the hot tub breaks down while I'm here they would not replace, but that was based on the fact that it worked to begin with. Then they said they would take $50 off the rent for each month the hot tub is not working, and when it came time to deduct that from rent they said "that is only if we can't get the hot tub working at all." (They are currently trying to get it working - so fingers crossed the can deliver on something they promised up front). The hot tub cover that was left behind, and the condition was disgusting, they said it was ready to use, though it is covered in black mold, slugs, and water is soooo dirty. There has been a dead rat under the house with rat droppings for this entire first month, and the landlord has stuffed old boogie boards on top of it twice, despite my request to take away the boards, which are mostly garbage. They left several large pieces of furniture for me to "deal with" after saying the landlord would be happy to take anything away I did not want to keep. cupboard drawers broken, closet floors need a carpenter to fix random floor boards, shower drain clogged. I am not going to get detailed about everything that has been out of integrity, but I'll close by saying, if you do rent a house from this PM be sure to go there a few days before your move in date and make sure you are getting your moneys worth and that the place is actually ready to move into. I like the house and the location, and I'm a really easy going person and fantastic tenant - worked with Portola PM for 13 years, no issues - so it's really been unfortunate to have this completely unnecessary experience, because it's tainted my view of the house, and left me questioning keeping it. My hope is that I can get everything worked out in my second month here and stay. And hopefully get to a place where I can stop communicating with PM about the house, they have been frustrating and terrible communicators. We shall see.....
