Stopped in to check out their little market. (They had some cool veggies that are reasonably priced, among other things like cheese curds and farm eggs) I hope they are able to keep growing the selection. We stayed for the beignets and coffee. The beignets were fresh and chewy and cooked perfectly. It's the owner's family recipe and I'm excited to have them available when I get that fried dough craving. It is an amazing little place that serves up a wide variety of coffee, tea and wine (yes, wine...nice selection too!). They only cook up the donuts and beignets (yes, I said beignets!) as they are ordered, so you just have to sit there and drink coffee, tea or wine while you wait. The owners are wonderful folks who go out of their way to make you feel welcome; a little bit of Haight-Ashbury in Wilmington perhaps. This place was right across the from the flat my party were renting for the weekend, and wow, what a find. The people were super friendly, and while the coffee was good...the beignets stole the show. I'm talking amazing. We were told if we weren't wearing the beignets we weren't doing it right, and they were well worth a little powdered sugar on the shirt. They have some obsession with Willie Nelson, but that's ok. There's also a little market for some peppers and other assorted veggies. My friends and I were in town for the weekend for our annual beach trip and our AirBnB was located right next to this cafe which was like a ten second walk away. We decided to check it out because we could smell the fresh beignets and donuts from our home. They did not disappoint at all! They also have mimosas, produce, and other beverages too! I had the fresh beignets (some of the best I've ever had), cinnamon doughnut, and banana protein ball. Just wanted to add to the already rating. The donuts were fresh and amazing. The beignets were easily the best I've had outside of Cafe du Monde. And the owner is simply a delight. The decor plays homage to the great Willie Nelson, so what's not to like?? There is plenty of parking out back, too, always a plus. Next time we're passing through, we'll be sure to stop in again. Today was my first time visiting Brooklyn Cafe and now I'm in trouble with my wife because I visited twice this morning. I ordered the beignets and they were delicious. After telling everyone at the office about them, I had to go back and get more. I also picked up a jalapeño kolache and it was phenomenal. Customer service was an A+. The best fresh donuts and they have cinnamon because most donut shops only have glazed or some funky stuff on them!! This place is so great! The owners served us and were so sweet and fun to talk to. The donuts are a family recipe, we tried the cinnamon sugar and they were delicious and made right in front of us. The beignets were unreal- so good and definitely will be back for these! We also got iced coffees, and they use frozen coffee as ice cubes, which is amazing.
