Pre-race party at Pier 2 at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Rashmi J.

Ran the AirBNB Brooklyn Half marathon for the first time in 2016 and loved every bit of the experience. This was also my first ever official run. - The tickets sell out fast, so look for the opening dates and enroll immediately! - Don't miss out on the pre-race party. Awesome local eats, fun activities, Manhattan skyline views, and live music makes Pier 2 at Brooklyn Bridge Park the place to be. Checkout my pics! - Like any other NYRR races, they have everything a runner would need, from start of the race till the end. From the clean porta-potties to snacks & drinks' stalls every few miles to the medical stalls, everything was in place, making the run very comfortable. - This is one of the most popular races by NYRR, so running with ~27K other runners was exhilarating. Love the energy level of volunteers - these are people who have run many half marathons and know the pain! - Your loved ones can track your progress the entire time like most other runs. - The race ends at the beautiful Coney island boardwalk. You are awarded the much-coveted medal and some goodies at this point. There's also a photo-op with the official photographers if you have any left-over energy for it. - Cherry on top is the after-party at the MCU park. - Use your bib number to download free official photographs!

finish 2012!

I have run the Brooklyn Half for the past six years...there have been a couple of not so great years but 2012 was awesome. Over 14,000 runners starting on Eastern Parkway, running down Washington, up Flatbush, around Grand Army Plaza, back down Flatbush, on the outside of the park, then into Prospect Park for one loop, then out to Ocean Parkway all the way to the Coney Island boardwalk. Today was a beautiful day for a race! I had a lot of friends running it and everyone enjoyed it. Very well organized NYRR event.

First time running a half marathon and I was so glad to do it in the borough that stole my heart 11 years ago. I trained pretty well and I tried to play it cool the days leading up to the big 13.1, but seriously people, I was nervous as hell, and apparently so were many of the 25,000 runners. Those port-a-potties were filled to the brim by blast off at 8am. Well done NYRR for having a ridiculous amount of bathrooms available throughout the course. In years past, it just seemed like excess but they were certainly needed. Since this was my first, I really have nothing to gauge this against. All I know was that the streets, sights, and sounds of this course took away my heart and my breath (literally, I decided my lung was collapsing at mile 12). Kicking it off at the beautiful Brooklyn Museum, running around the lovely lush Prospect Park, down that freakin' long stretch we know as Coney Island Avenue, and finally making it to the boardwalk of Coney Island was amazing. The runners; fast, slow, superbly able, those with disabilities. The supporters; all ages, and colors coming out to support was incredibly inspiring and fun. First time running this baby beast and it certainly won't be my last.

Another review mentioned "grimy' which is the perfect description. A lot of the clientele is sketchy, too, and I would not feel safe alone. There were very limited food options. Our only choice was the Triple Crown Cafe, where we purchased hot dogs, and the Silks Bar for drinks. The seating area of the track is filthy and full of bird droppings. There was garbage stuck in the rails looking down onto the paddock, which had clearly been there for some time. We still had a great time and would definitely return, as shockingly, this is not the worst track we have visited. I hope they tear it down and rebuild like Belmont. There is so much wasted space and wasted potential.

Covid19 review This…read morereview is for the covid testing process. There's no horse races going on right now. Instead you can find a drive thru covid test center. You go online and register yourself at covid19screening.health.by.gov first. Then they call you to schedule a drive thru appt. You can call them too as well if it's urgent. Entrance for testing center is on rockaway blvd. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is being tested and has an appt. Drive in and let them know you have an appointment. Keep your drivers license on the dashboard and your windows up. You drive through a checkpoint where they will confirm your identity and appt. You'll then queue up to get tested. Once in the tent, they will check your drivers license again and then finally tell you to roll down your window halfway. The person testing you will swab your nostril for 10 seconds (feels longer sometimes). They then give you a card with instructions on getting results on bioreference.com. Your results should be ready in about a week. Good luck and stay safe everyone!

Electric Run - At the 5K Night Run

Electric Run

Meh. After a great…read moreexperience at Color Run last July, my group of 7 expanded to a group of 13 would-be runners at Electric Run. I was utterly disappointed at the whole event. Most of the "runners" just wanted to get the whole 5k over with. There really isn't anything fun about giant lighted teddy bears, ice cream cones beach balls and a "land" with some music. Yea we did do a lot of selfies for Instagram purposes but the whole course isn't anything to brag about to your friends back home. What provided some laughs and entertainment was a couple of drunk ass girls tipping over and stumbling all over the same area for about maybe 30 mins. (I saw them on our way to the water station and as we finish the course). I couldn't help but laugh at their stupidity. Even the sponsors were meh. Rockstar gave out some drinks. That's about it. There were beer and some food for sale, but passed on it. After run party tried to be fun but kind of failed. I guess this is where the beer for sale is supposed to kick in. Would probably be a lot more fun if I was a little tipsy. My bad. Overall, Electric Run didn't deliver and this would be the first and last for me.

Thousands just walking and taking pictures next to giant teddy bears, ice cream cones, muffins and jelly fish. Wtf. More people ran during this ever than the Color run since there was nothing to see or anything to do. Just boring walks in the dark leading up to a party at the finish line. The Color Run at least had checkpoints of color tossed at you. Sponsors were incredibly weak. Nothing to eat or any free handouts besides Rockstar energy drinks. If you have to participate in a run, stick to the Color run. The best thing about this event is when you leave the parking lot to go eat.

The party room was definitely on the smaller side; I'm not typically claustrophobic, but I did feel a bit cramped inside. On the plus side, they had a lot of arcade games to play, and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely return to this location.

The space was pretty clean with staff always sweeping and mopping down areas. Games range from 4-20 points per game. Some games allow you to accumulate points to redeem prizes. We also booked a three game laser tag. It was really fun and as intense as you want it to be. You have the choice of free for all or team play. Free for all I felt was a little less intensive. Team play you have to go back your base and reload and protect your base from getting attacked. Definitely free for all was more fun. I would definitely recommend for a big group and if you want a workout.
