Running across the Brooklyn Bridge alone makes the race worth it; it's an unforgettable moment. The course itself is on the hilly side, with rolling hills and the bridge, so it's probably not the best choice if you're chasing a PR. But if you're looking for an amazing sightseeing run through some of New York's most iconic streets, this is the one. Everything leading up to the race was organized really well, from packet pickup to race-day logistics. It's absolutely worth applying for the lottery. Opportunities to run races like this don't come often!

There was a bar, merchandise you could buy, and some photo opps. Check in started at 11:30am but we didn't arrive until a little after 1:00pm. We checked our clothes, had a drink, and it was time for the race. The race started at 1:30pm. Everyone's energy was great! I loved all the different costumes. The race was about a mile and it was through the streets and over a bridge. After the race, there was a party with a DJ. Overall, I had so much fun.

Our Yelp team, 'Baby it's Yelp Outside', raised over $7K+ towards this charity and won third place in fundraising for NYC...Whoo Hoo!!! Thanks to all of my supporters and contributors in helping me reach my fundraising goals which added to the teams overall goal, couldn't have done this without you. As it was explained to me, this is one of the few charities that you don't have to worry about where the funds are going as it goes directly to the Children's Tumor Foundation and that in itself makes this particular event even more than worth it. Thanks to our Yelp NYC Crew, Drew, Sierra and Katey for being there. I was genuinely happy to see our Yelp table representing, as you always do. Thanks to all the Yelpers, friends and family that came out despite the extreme cold, very brave of you considering the weather conditions. This year it was clearly stated that you did not have to do the run, which a few people heeded. But that didn't stop some of the barely clad who did the shortened run by the Westside Highway, with car horns blaring, showing love or better yet wondering what the hell is going on with hundreds of people running in their unmentionables...that was a funny sight to see. Also, thanks to Brian N. who made me aware of this charity a few years ago and Alexandra K. who ran our cool team of Yelpers this year by keeping everyone informed and pretty much managing all things necessary for our teams success. They can be tricky regarding waivers and riding when it comes to minors. I know it is a liability but you literally need to get a form notarized before being able to ride. Once inside raceway park it can be tricky to navigate and know where you're going. There are no signs telling you where or what tracks to go to. (there are multiple) Track is always groomed well but it can get very muddy. With all the money this place makes all they have is porter potty's that are gross and hot inside. I really can't complain due to the fact this is the only track close to my home but they can definitely brush up on some loose ends.

You could not ask for…read moresuch perfect weather in a picturesque seaside town, plus the water was warm and with plenty of excited energy in the air. The festivities started with the introductions of the local officials, a monk to bless the fleet and the eye dotting ceremony to "awaken the dragon". Each team had their encampments along the shore with their tents, banners and brightly colored uniforms. From then on, the teams were on the water all day for some intense competition, paddling their butts off. The boats out on the water were a fair distance away and were hard to track, but each boat came back to a rousing round of cheers! The festival would not be complete without some great food from vendors serving some tasty Asian dishes. Potstickers, teriyaki chicken bowls & spicy pork skewers were some of the stolen bites I got from my wife. But I was racing, so I couldn't load up on food or I would've chummed the bay. Entertainment was provided all day by local dance & choral groups, and a lion dance demonstration by a martial arts troop. The highlight was Hsu-nami, a erhu band that rocked the stage! We didn't win a medal, but it was an exhausting and exhilarating day! Can't wait for next year.

My Valentines Day review is dedicated to my Valentine!…read more Brooklyn Half Marathon is very very popular. I've been here with my daughter a couple times. I'm a fan of runners and cheer them on every opportunity I can. I'm the Coach, Fan Club, and most importantly the Photographer! I love the medals she receives from each run. Some do tarnish over time. Just like me! A half marathon is quite an accomplishment. There's always fun activity at these events for me to enjoy. If you don't run I still advise you to go and enjoy the vibes. It's free!

We ran as a family, my 8 year old thought it was amazing, my 6 year old was not really into it, but is proud of her medal. The distance was perfect for the kids, obstacles were engaging, but not too difficult for the kids, and the kids were excited to be at Belleayre, in the summer time, because it is where they ski. My one real criticism is that there was no festival feel to the event. IMHO, a half an hours worth of stuff to do after the race (dancing, face painting, limbo, whatever) would have really improved the event over all. This one minor complaint aside, Your First Mud Run is definitely worth doing.

This is such a worthwhile event that raises funds for some well-deserving athletes in the Special Olympics. Let me tell you my dear friends this run is not as easy as it sounds. This is a unique 5K through a tunnel that I feel someone has to experience at least once in their lifetime. The last few kilometers really burns because of the incline going back to the New Jersey side. Nevertheless with a huge amount of people participating you always are motivated to keep on going. This event is more fun to run with friends especially if you want to compete with them. At the end of the day it is, as I said for a very good cause, so no matter how you look at it, it truly is a win for everyone involved!
