It's all about the treasure hunt! I love checking out new stores and hitting estates sales. This store is a combination of both. There are some great pieces scattered around the store. It's like going back in time. It's not just old stuff like you find at a lot of places. It's quality pieces. We were walking through and found some lovely crystal brandy glasses. I quickly Googled the brand they were $65 a pair online, Riedel Vinum, Brandy Glasses. We purchased all 4 for $38!! SCORE!!! The young guy at the counter was great! Personality and charm rolled into one. We talked about liquors from around the world. We talked about traveling. We talked about life. I will definitely check out the store again! read more

This place has a lot of vintage dressers and other vintage furniture and framed art. Everything is pretty jammed in there and it is not set up like so much like a store. Seems more like a warehouse with everything everywhere even though it is store with a storefront. I found a few things I liked and checked the prices. I found the prices to be higher than what I am comfortable paying or what I do pay for the things I buy. The owner or person working there was very nice and helpful. Easy to find street parking. read more

Store is an amazing collection of mid century, contemporary, and Asian furniture in decor at amazing prices. The staff are friendly and helpful. Went for the first time today "just to look" and came home with a beautiful antique table. They offer a unique mix of options and appear to have new items moving through frequently. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Our experience with this store sucked! My mom bought an expensive Persian rug at Brooklyn Mall. She was told it was 18 by 11, but at home discovered it was actually a foot bigger than that -- too big to fit in the room, unfortunately. The guy at Brooklyn Mall said "all sales final" and refused to even talk with my mom on the phone about compromise, us putting it back in his store under consignment, anything. He has her money and that's all that matters to him. She called him multiple times, but he refused to return her calls, instead having other people text her variations on "all sales final." It's been a really frustrating experience. UPDATE: The owner has replied here, saying that he rolled the rug out in my downstairs room and it fit fine. This is a lie. I rolled the rug out after he left, and it was so big it went all the way to the wall and then UP THE WALL. This is not an ethical store owner. Be wary if you want to shop here. read more

Lots of good stuff here, but unless you've seen it online, don't bother coming into this store. This place is packed to the gills. Stuff piled upon stuff upon stuff piled upon rude service. I came in looking for a rug, and found an $1100 Persian rug that I thought was nice. I am standing in the isle, looking at this rug, using the calculator on my phone to figure out if it will fit in my space. Employees seemed annoyed because I was in the way of their moving more crap into the store and listing it on craigslist. Sorry I was such a pain. Guess I will take my cash in hand elsewhere. A "can I help you" goes a long way sometimes and it's no wonder these folks have got more stuff than they can ever sell. read more

I was a regular customer and enjoyed shopping the unique and reasonably priced items. Not sure I will return because of poor customer service. I miss the young woman who was once there with a smile, a greeting, and sincere, helpful attitude. The new employee did not greet or follow through with a promise to call me about 2 items I was interested in. I noticed there was much less inventory on my last visit. This place is terrible. We paid $80 for the delivery of a heavy chest of drawers, and the delivery guys threatened to dump it in the driveway. The delivery guys would not take their shoes off to enter our house. When we said we paid for delivery, the guy said it was just place to place, and he would dump our furniture in the driveway. This really made me mad because when we bought the furniture, they even made us tell them how many stairs they had to climb for delivery. Then they left the heavy chest in our garage. It was great paying for a guy to threaten us like that. And great having to spend an hour to take it apart and lug the thing up the stairs from the garage by myself. I hope they go out of business soon. If you offer to deliver for $80, and a customer accepts and pays you $80, you should deliver as promised. There were no conditions to the delivery, other than the number of stairs. Aren't you guys in the furniture business? I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

There were four employees in the store. And old and younger and working on a cabinet in the middle of the aisle, another young man staining some furniture and the girl at the counter. There was myself in the store along with a homeless man who ventured to the basement to "replace a tool". I was not greeted, helped or even acknowledged. I was actually there to purchase one of the media cabinets I saw online for $425, but with the horrible customer service I won't waste my money there. I consigned a lot of my household here after selling my house. I worked with the wonderful Jerry Leffel and his charming wife through their company, Caring Transitions, and they manage this space where apparently several consignors place their merchandise. I was truly impressed by the beauty and quality of the offers in this store. Even the entrance doors are exquisite. If you want to line in room in hand carved wooden walls you can find a whole room for sale. The place is simply worth a visit to have a look. Charming, elegant, magical. The prices are fair for the quality and I imagine one can negotiate the price in some cases. Prices are fair for the quality, some things are very expensive, some are cheap. It is one of those caves of Ali Baba style stores. Really fun! They have beautiful tableware, furniture, pianos, gorgeous Persian carpets, some incredibly beautiful beds. read more

PSA PDX metro: Absolutely DO NOT have anything delivered from Brooklyn Mall of Portland. The owner delivered a chest we had purchased earlier this week, which I felt was priced high but it fit our needs. Upon delivery, our brand new thousands of dollars hardwood floors have scratches on them now. We put no scratch furniture movers on the bottom of them before it was moved, and the floors did not have these scratches before in this particular spot. We just bought this house and the floors are brand new, so I don't see how else the scratches could've gotten there, especially considering no one has been in and out of the house since then. Regardless of how the scratches got there, not only was the owner unapologetic but he downright argued with me and was not helpful. I was not being rude or unkind, not cursing or anything like that, and told him I was calling not to argue with him but to tell him I was dissatisfied, to which he said: okay. He could have cared less now that he had my money in hand. As a small business owner myself, I find this behavior unacceptable and absolutely will not ever shop there again or recommend them to friends and family. read more

Called before going there about bed frames they had for sale and was told they were complete sets, so we drove down there picked a set up, that was all wrapped in green stretch wrap. About a week later we unwrapped it only to find it was missing all the pieces that held it together. Contacted them to see if there was something they'd be willing to do since they lied about them being complete and still haven't heard from them. Definitely not a place I would recommend or shop at again! read more

Cool stuff at good prices! You can get more than furniture and antiques. There's modern kitchen ware and clothes downstairs which are super reasonably priced. I know there are lots of secondhand stores in Portland this is really a good one. read more

Brooklyn Mall is relatively new to the neighborhood, having recently taken over the space from another furniture dealer. What I like: well for one, they've got quality antiques at reasonable prices. Their selection changes frequently (I've popped in a few times over the past six months or so and it isn't always the same old stuff). The owners provide pleasant service which is attentive and friendly without being intrusive or pushy. So far I haven't bought any large furniture pieces here, but I've found some gorgeous crystal and other nice items, and it's only a matter of time before the right sofa or china cabinet catches my eye. read more

After seeing a wall unit advertised in Craigslist, for $700, we called to put it on hold and cut out of work early to go and purchase it. When we got there the girl at the counter directed us to the wall unit and then proceeded to chat on the phone with someone for a while, leaving us to fend for ourselves. I wanted to be sure the wall unit had all components with it, and noticed a cardboard box labeled "wall unit parts" on it. I started looking through the parts and was then scolded by the employee and told "do not go through that box." I was a little bothered by her attitude since I was there and about to spend hundreds of dollars, but shrugged it off. We had her call "the owner" to find out where the shelves that went with the unit were located. The owner apparently was unaware the unit was listed on Craigslist and told the employee to charge $1500 for it, more than doubling the advertised price. Needless to say, we passed. We went into this place ready to spend money, and we were greeted by rude and unscrupulous antics. I will never be back, and as someone who is very involved in the antique and mid century modern collector community in Portland I will be sure to spread the word. read more
