As a corporate pilot I depend on my eyesight for both mine and my passenger's safety in all kinds of weather and lighting conditions. When it came time for me to have a lens replacement I wanted and needed the best possible performance lens in order for me to continue in my profession. After a great deal of searching and visiting the offices of 3 other eye surgeons in the DFW area I was given the recommendation of visiting Dr. Dain Brooks at Brooks Eye Associates from Dr. Danny Malone at Vision Source (see their review for a great general eye doctor). There are several factors that made Dr. Brooks the clear choice for me. At so many of the other facilities I went to felt as though I was stepping into a Crystalens infomercial. I was a number to them and it was a question of how they could pitch me on a particular implant. I am not saying Crystalens is not a good product but is it good for what I want to do? There was little to no discussion on what other options would be available in other multi-focal or accommodating lens or how they would perform based on what I was looking for. Dr. Brooks is unique in the DFW area in that his experience as a military doctor provided him the opportunity to gain vast experience with ALL the intraocular lens implants available on the market today. He took the time...and I mean serious time... (we probably discussed it for the better part of an hour in person) to evaluate all the options, discuss my lifestyle desires and really work through what would be the best for my long term happiness. I felt that we had thoroughly discussed all of the options until I was satisfied and I had realistic expectations of the end result. The surgery went very well and his attention to detail is second to none. You leave feeling that there was no better possible outcome than what you have done which it very comforting. The results were frankly stunning - I am back to 20/20 near and far and back to flying again due in no small part to the talent of Dr. Brooks, his staff and the ability to use the right implant for the right application. The amazing thing is all of this time, talent, and personal attention was over $1000 less than what I had been quoted for the same procedure at a several other local facilities. If you are fed up with arriving at the doctor's office to be greeted by a sign in sheet with a big sign saying "do not open the glass" then this is the place for you. The attitude that you find with Dr. Brooks extends to his entire staff. Everyone at Brooks Eye Associates goes above and beyond to be helpful and responsive. If I send an email to them I get a response in hours not days or weeks. I had a change in my schedule and they went out of their way to accommodate me and fit me in. I wish I could say that this level of customer service and customer focus is common but it is not so it needs to be recognized. Brooks Eye Associates is totally amazing. This location is right off a highway exit which is very convenient. You will have the opportunity to drive right up to the door for drop off in a circular driveway. There is plenty of convenient parking. The front desk reception area is like a grand welcome center, you will be awesomely greeted in a very caring and sincere manner. The atmosphere is very open and sunny, the architectural design is top notch, it has a flair of peace and relaxation with much calmness. A nurse or a technician will come to escort you to your first steps of getting your eye sight to excellent quality with your pre exam tests. Next you will be escorted to a huge beautiful waiting area that has some of the most beautiful artwork, with very relaxing seating, for a brief period of time. Then you will have the amazing opportunity to be examined by Dr. Dain Brooks. Dr. Brooks will take quality time with your eye examination. He will then discuss the best options to get your eyesight corrected. Dr. Brooks is very sincere and caring as he speaks his professional truths to you. If surgery is recommended, you will be escorted to counselor(s) that will throughly go over your next needed rewarding  steps.  The surgery center is conveniently located on the other side of the same building. The surgery center is magnificently handled for intake patients. Very caring warm smiles and authentic concern for each patient is given at intake. The patient intake area is a very beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. A Registered nurse will come take you for your surgery. These Nurses, Technicians, Doctors, Anesthesiologist and etc. are so professional and kind to every patient. Dr. Brooks will soon come and speak to you before surgery. After surgery you will be taken to recovery where even more loving nurses take care of you. Upon leaving recovery these awesome nurses offer you water, juice, snacks if you desire to have it. You will be wheel chaired to the area where your driver will take you home. My whole experience at Brooks Eye Associates was life changing with the full effect of good clear vision. I highly recommend that you bring your valuable eye sight here as soon as you know you may have an eye sight problem. I promise you, that you will certainly be as well pleased as I am. I didn't really know what to expect when I walked into Brooks Eye Associates other than I was referred by a friend. What I found far exceeded any expectations I had. I and my husband were so warmly greeted and made to feel comfortable immediately, even though I faced the long, but necessary, first-visit paperwork! Afterwards we were introduced to my technician who took us into the examination areas. I've never seen such an array of equipment--all new and apparently state-of-the art, which they indeed were! However, rather than being made nervous to all this unknown before me, I was treated so gently and every single test/procedure was explained thoroughly before even the most simple thing happened. When I saw Dr. Brooks, I was amazed at his intensity and kindness. He also performed testing and explained everything along the way. I now feel so comfortable going ahead with my cataract removal surgery! I cannot imagine being in better care and facilities than here. I suggest you look at his vitae available here for your own review of his excellent training and credentials. All the insurance review had already been taken care of before we went on to visit the surgery coordinator. That, too, was such a relief for me as I hate dealing with what's covered and what's not by my insurance. We received literature explaining what treatments were available and what the associated costs were. I had surgery on 9/22/20 and 9/29/20...these people are outstanding...from my first appointment till days of surgery`s,,i was so comfortable with these people,, making sure I was comfortable each step of the way...Dr, Brooks is an amazing Dr.it is hard to make a short statement when there is so much I want to say...I`ll just go to the second surgery,,you go in ,,lots of drops...a tiny little pill...I swear I never felt under sedation ..I was rolled into a different cubical ,,there was the Dr,and a couple other nurses,,radio is on,they are having conversation about something red or blue..I even entered the conversation,ans said i like blue..."mind you " the Dr, is working on my eye,,,I am awake..wierd..but didnt feel anything..he was done in 5 min....took only 5 min...2 months preparing 2 hr,wait boom it is over,,,,,my right is working for both,,so i can see out of it really well,,,so i can keep left eye covered,,without trying to see..long story short..my beautiful new vision seems like a miracle,,i can read without grabbing for glasses,,,it is so pretty ouside,,the colors so very cyrstal clear..just get teary eyed and just want to check out every different thing,,,reds,blues,greens,browns...ect just so pretty...THANK YOU BROOKS EYE ASSOCIATES FOR MY KNEW EYES...and making my experience absoultly amazing.just the best staff in the clinic and surgery,,are so caring and attentive ...after my first visit ,,i was never afraid,,,,what an experience indeed.... read more

I don't normally write reviews but my family had such a wonderful experience at Brooks Eye Associates that I felt it warranted my feedback. This appointment was for my special needs daughter who is 17. She was born with congenital cataracts and had surgery at age 3.We have seen many ophthalmologists over the years. In all of these years, we have never had such a thorough exam and discussion about my daughter's eye health as we did with Dr. Miller and Dr. Brooks. Dr. Miller and her bubbly personality immediately made my daughter feel at ease. She explained everything about the exam to my daughter in a way she could understand. She then consulted with Dr. Brooks who came in and talked with my daughter and I about possibilities for the future to improve her vision. Dr. Brooks made it a point to compliment my daughter on her shoes and even showed interest in my daughter's wheelchair. It is so RARE for anyone to show interest in a person with special needs. I am so grateful to their team for the care and love they showed my daughter. She felt empowered after her exam and hopeful for the future of correcting her vision. From the minute we walked in the door, we felt like we were the only patients there and were cared for like we were family. I was referred to Brooks Eye Associates by a close friend, and from the moment that I entered the clinic for the first time (a month prior to my cataract surgery) for the pre-op (which was almost a 4 hour appointment), to my experience throughout both surgeries, and my post-op, it was second to none. I have to say, Dr. Brooks is an amazing surgeon, and Dr. Miller, who was involved in my post-ops, is very caring, knowledgeable, and spent quite a bit of time answering questions for me. The whole entire staff was awesome. I had mild cataract, and my vision was awful. I could never find the right power with contact lenses, and I'm not a person who likes to wear glasses 24/7. I had some CSR episodes in the past, and I was concerned about getting IOLs put in my eyes without knowing if having had Central Serous Retinopathy would be detrimental in the long term. Both Drs. Brooks and Miller took the time to answer questions and put me at ease with my concerns. It's been a week and a half since my second eye surgery and so far so good. The eye where I had my CSR episodes in the past is healing a bit slower than the other, but my sight (and recovery) is progressing as we speak. My 82 year old father needed cataract surgery, as recommended by his optometrist. I looked around after reading some of the negative reviews about Brooks Eye Associates. Thankfully, we ended up going to Brooks just to check them out. It did take quite a long time to go through the evaluation process, but everyone we came into contact with was professional and friendly. Immediately following the consultation, we knew exactly how much it would cost for the different types of corrective lenses, supplies, etc. If you go into the process with the understanding that you'll be at the consultation for a while (and bring something to keep you occupied while you wait) I think you'll be happy with the process and result. The office is very peaceful and tranquil, with friendly faces from the moment you walk in the door, so it's not so bad spending some time there. My dad just had his second eye done yesterday, with a follow-up today. We are so impressed with the process and the results. They answered questions, treated him with compassion, and thoroughly explained everything. No surprises! He liked them so much he requested Brooks Eye Associates to do the follow-up care instead of his regular optometrist. We highly recommend Brooks Eye Associates! :-) read more

From the initial visit until the surgery and follow-up I have never encountered a more professional medical staff. Dr. Brooks is one of the best in the country, and the first in DFW to have the advanced IOL that I was looking for. At first, he was very cautious because I had very severe myopia. However, he reevaluated me per my request and spent a good deal of time explaining the pros and cons of the advanced IOL. Dr. Miller saw me for many pre and post op visits, and she is also very competent and very good at communicating what she has seen and advised. She is also a specialist in dry eye diseases, which I had and she handled that well also. I also saw Dr. Sek and again, he would spend whatever time needed to explain what the exam showed and my future options. Outside the staff of medical doctors, the nurses and office staff are all friendly and helpful. I worked with Jennifer A. on scheduling and payment options, and not only did she handle that, but she quickly got any questions that I had to one of the Doctors and got back to me promptly. My husband has worn glasses since he was 4 yrs. old. He went to Brooks Eye Associates because of a family history of glaucoma. In his first appointment with Dr. Miller she confirmed that his eye pressure was very high. There were several options for treatment explained in detail to us. After in depth testing and a fun morning with Steve it was determined that cataract surgery was the directions he would go. It is a big office, it is you eye sight, so there were several appointments before and more after his surgery. Dr. Brooks is a brilliant surgeon. We both felt that he was treated very professionally & felt very confident with all aspects of the procedures. I think what stands out for us is how all the professionals we interacted with from Megan at check-in to Kaitlyn & Alex at check-out, to technicians Rose & Kylie and many others seemed to really like their jobs! That speaks volumes for the Dr.'s that run the practice. After 60+ years my husband is now seeing very well with no need for glasses. His vision continues to improve almost daily. I love Brooks Eye Associates! I had Lasik surgery with Dr. Brooks and he was amazing! I had no pain and could see instantly. From the time I arrived I was greeted with warm smiling faces. Leia got me ready for my exam and took time to explain what was going to happen. When I first met with Dr. Miller she was so amazing, caring and explained my options. On the day of my procedure, McKenzie took the time to go over the medication and expectations. I was so nervous but Daisy held my hand during the procedure and her voice was so soothing. When I got home, after I woke up, I received a call from Daisy to make sure I was doing okay. Honestly the care that the employees at Brooks Eye Associates takes with their patients is so special. I have continued my care for some dry eye help as well and Dr. Miller provided a solution using serum drops which has been life changing. It's so nice to go to a doctors office that cares so much. I am VERY pleased and estatic with my cataract surgery! The whole process was absolutely wonderful and effortless. The staff was amazing. They were ALL so very knowledgable, helpful and oh so kind. I was so fearful going into this, in my mind i built up a fear of "don't want to see any needles around my eye!" Well, its not at all like that at all !!! After meeting everyone and talking with Dr. Brooks, my fears immediately were replaced with excitement. I was ready to "get her done!" So happy that I went with the advanced technology lens for the best correction for me. I was able to see things that I couldn't see before on the way home from my first cataract prodecure i.e. license plates, signs on the side of the road! I had the lenses in both eyes replaced by Dr. Brooks and I couldn't be happier with the experience. I was hesitant at first because it is such a large practice, and I like the more "personal" touch, but everyone and I mean everyone I interacted with was pleasant and professional and made me feel like one of their very important patients. I have a more complicated eye history than most and Dr. Brooks is very thorough, confident, and capable and explained everything to my satisfaction. Both the anesthesiologist and the nurse anesthetist were super and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable prior to the surgery. Recovery was great and a week later, I am so happy with the improvement in my eyesight. I have just completed my cataract surgery by Dr. Brooks at Brooks Eye Associates. Let me start by saying the whole experience was very organized, efficient and professional. The entire staff from the front desk to the surgery staff was friendly and empathic. They would check on me to be sure I was ok and ask repeatedly if I needed anything. Dr. Brooks and Dr. King, Anesthesiologist, were awesome and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I did not feel pushed into a decision at all, my options were presented to me and I did my own research to reach a decision that I felt was best for my eyes. I highly recommend that for anyone considering a decision of this magnitude. I can see and read without my glasses for the first time in years. After a bad experience at Key Whitman I walked out in effect firing them. I chose Brooks Eye Associates. The staff is very professional! They answered all my questions without any undue condesention. There is no doubt this is the right place to have cataract surgery. Dr. Brooks is awsome the right mechanic for the job no doubt. I want to mention the wonderful woman who took my call after the KW experience. I was foaming at the mouth mad she put me at ease. She even remembered my voice from the phone call amazing. Dr. Brooks is a OK surgeon but his follow up, communication, and care of patients is very poor. He does not do follow up appointments so he has other doctors for non surgery related appointments. Difficulty getting refills and it just a mass of people rushing through his money machine! He charges for a test not covered by my insurance when he asked me to pay over $11K for surgery. He even sells a pack of eye drops you can get for less on Amazon. Love my new vision but I would NOT choose Dr. Brooks or recommend him! Update: After the surgery, I developed scar tissue. I was verbally told this procedure called YAG Laser was included in my initial fee. Today I was told it was another $650 and part of it was an office visit fee. Unbelievable !!! Dr. Brooks is a very gifted surgeon. I previously had cataract surgery on my right eye (about 4 years ago) with a different doctor and did not get great results. Needless to say, I was nervous about getting my left (and dominant) eye done. I had radial keratotomy 23 years ago. Turns out, this makes cataract surgery more difficult and complicated. Dr. Brooks told me that I would likely need full-time glasses plus readers. I just had my one-month follow up today. Vision in my left eye, without correction, is 20/20! I am so delighted with my crystal clear vision. I do still need reading glasses but no complaints here. Dr. Brooks is a wonderful and kind doctor. His associate, Dr. Miller is also outstanding. I have worn glasses for 48 years to see at a distance. Over the past six months, my sight has been getting worse and worse. I went to my eye doctor and they referred me to Dr. Brooks. I went to see them and they ran me through several tests and then said my cataracts were very bad. I was deemed legally blind and we scheduled surgeries. I am now a week out from the surgeries and listening to them, following the instructions they gave me I am 20/20 in the left eye and 20/25 in the right. I have worn glasses since I was 5 years old. When I found out that I had to have cataract surgery, I had this dream of being free of glasses after surgery. Dr. Dain Brooks was able to do that for me!!!! He helped me find the exact lens that would make my dream possible! I don't wear glasses now, and for the 1st time ever, have regular sun glasses. I contacted Dr. Brooks with a very special request for prescription lens. Having been there before when he replaced my cataract lenses with a special trifocal lens to give me back my 20/15 vision. I needed a n absolute focus point of 36inches. I set me up with Dr. Rebecca Miller in the eye clinic. Dr. Miller used every tool in the book and provided me with the perfect prescription for my required focus point. I am super happy the new glasses I have for my recreation endeavors. Thanks go out to Dr. Brooks, Dr. Miller and all the wonderful staff that worked with me through the entire process.
