Nowadays I'm on a ketogenic diet(probably too many steak & cheese subs over the past 30 some odd years ), so I haven't had the pleasure of trying Brookside's Steak & Cheese...maybe on a cheat day, but I digress Because of the diet, my orders are a giant pain in the @$$, substitutions add ons etc. The staff at Brookside never bat an eye. They are always super friendly, the service is always fast, the food is always fresh and they always get it right(unless I forget to ask for feta for my wife's salad...then I lie and blame it on them). This place is no longer a go-to for lunch. Service dismissive. Food doesn't resemble anything you'd expect. I got a Santa Fe wrap - no avocado, no chipotle mayo, Just very dry cubed chicken and greasy stir-fred vegetables?! with lettuce and a slice of cheese. It was like Chinese-Indian... nothing Santa Fe about it It didn't remotely resemble the description... If I hadn't driven home I would've returned it. Place slips a little with each new owner. The subs have drastically shrunk in size same ingredients but much much smaller from when the couple that retired sold it. 2 slices of pizza are now $8.01. OUCH. The lines have shrunk if that does say it all. read more

I've said it to all my friends so I'll say it here; This place has the best pizza on the seacoast and it's not even close. I got the Buffalo chicken pizza and it was out of this world! Yah, man. Have only sampled regular cold-cut subs this far, but in terms of local providers of the commodity the boys at Brookside do a nice job. Wider variety of veggies than you'll find elsewhere. Cuke slices, mushrooms, banana peppers and roasted red peppers, for example. Get all the veggies for a taste bomb. Only complaint is the "convenience charge" if you order online to pickup. Raises their reasonably priced subs $1.50, which seems a low-rent markup. You sell 100 takeouts a day (maybe?) and scarf $115 out of the wallets of your customers. Not pretty. But, the gist is the quality is very good if not uniquely so. Don't let the shabby exterior appearance put you off. Clean and apparently wholesome with a pro food service approach inside. read more

Just had a Cobb salad and Reuben sandwich. I have been enjoying these at Brookside since the beginning of the pandemic. Under new ownership I had both today. The salad was so so with the cucumber spoiled. The Reuben was dry and not satisfying. The young lady at the cash register was very unfriendly. I won't be going back. read more

Great little hole in the wall deli with a variety of eats and super friendly service. We were from out of town (NY & Chicago) and this place held its own vs. big city delis for sure. Can't wait to stop by again when I'm in the area for work. read more

Wife and I camped down the street and we had lunch and dinner from this establishment. We had cheese pizza it was very good a nice size and the cost of the pizza was reasonable. Food was ready very quickly. We also had a Cuban sandwich on a sub roll that was delicious and a sautéed vegitarian wrap also delicious and they even brought them out to the picnic tables out front I don't Know if they always do that but it was very nice of them. read more

Just tried this place for the very first time on the recommendation of my mother. I got a small steak bomb. It is one of the best I have ever had. They don't skimp on the steak it's packed full. I didn't have to use salt or pepper at all (sometimes when I've ordered from other places it is bland!) this was fantastic. Not only was it delicious but it was ready within 5 min and I got to take it home fresh and piping hot. Thanks guys! read more

New owners have spruced the place up and changed the name as did the last owners. The quality of the subs has declined quite a bit, so much so I have stopped buying the subs. It is still a good stop for the pizza which is still the same, ready to go in the display case just grab what you want and go same as always except the new people are cheaper with the toppings. read more

I just love this place. Everyone is so friendly, they whip up food fast, and it's always consistent and delicious. Great gluten free offerings (wraps and pizza -- the ultimate BBQ chicken pizza is the best!). Their seasonal menu never disappoints, and the recent addition of fried food just makes it even better. We just stopped briefly at Brookside today and were greeted to lovely, friendly service and unexpected fun. For example, the art in the bathroom was retro and funky. I live down the street and have been coming to this store for over 30 years... it has been through a few different owners and has had a few changes along the way. But We have always called it "Bobbys" and i just wanted to write a review and let everybody know the most recent change over with the new owners is probably the best yet ! They seem to have kept it the same "family feel store" with some nice upgrades visually inside....and the FOOD- WOW ... these guys know what they're doing ! My husband and I ordered a calzone and a sub last night and they blew us away! So happy to have this place just a short distance away! read more
