During our trip to Asheville we wanted to experience the city but also have cabin time. Wildberry lodge provided us with the most relaxing and comfortable experience we could ever ask for. Wild berry is definitely a way to get out of the city and just enjoy the quietness of nature (without going too far of course!) The drive itself is around 25-30 mins from downtown Asheville - there are several ways to get here but the new foundland road was probably the best route. It's easy to stay in the cabin and go enjoy yourself in the city during the day or evening. Ken and Glenda were very hands off and so friendly - if you have questions on where to go or what to do they can accommodate everything! The main cabin has multiple rooms - gooseberry and some other room options. This is where you check in, get breakfast, game room, sit on the deck, coffee/cider bar and chit chat with other guests if your heart desires. The best part of our stay was Glenda's breakfasts! Her recipes were featured in an Asheville bed and breakfast recipe book! We signed up for a bfast time the day prior (anywhere from 8am-930am) and she is usually ready whenever we get there! Our first breakfast included - garden frittata, bacon, homemade English muffin, rosemary roasted potatoes and to finish it off - poached pear. Our second breakfast included pumpkin pecan pancakes, cranberry/apple chutney and sausages and ended it with a mixed berry cobbler. Everything was superb and very filling! We stayed in the honey moon suite to get the full cabin - on our own - experience and it was gorgeous! The bed is super comfy, everything was clean and up to date. It was almost like glamping! Only downside to our visit was the drive at night can be a bit scary if you are not use to driving on mountains. One of the first nights it was raining so it was slightly difficult coming back to the cabin from downtown Asheville. Just make sure you have a car and drive safely! My husband and I booked a weekend trip to Asheville and this was our first AirBnB trip. This place had everything I wanted and more. From the moment we arrived, it exceeded my expectations. Graham and Felicity, the owners, are AMAZING! Felicity is super sweet and Graham is hilariously funny and accommodating. To begin, this B&B sits on several acres of land with a beautiful view of farmland and the mountains of Asheville. Trees and bushes flower all around you, and there are quite a number of cozy places to relax. Inside, the house feels very cozy, and the decor is spot on. Each room has a bathroom, and each room is completely different than the others. We stayed in the Hummingbird room (the purple one), which had plenty of room and a porch that led directly to the pool. It was too cold to swim, but the view was beautiful. We took advantage of the hot tub instead, which was relaxing and had a nice view. Graham is a chef by trade and he pampered us the entire weekend. We were greeted with a freshly made cake, which was quite yummy. On our second morning, we had an early excursion that prevented us from staying for breakfast. Graham not only prepared a cooler for my husband and I to take with us to have food to eat later, he also got up super early and made sure to bake some yummy pastries and have them waiting for us before we walked out the door. I can't say enough about how him taking the time to pack us a cooler, meant to us. We were both famished after our excursion and we drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, sat on the overlook, and had an excellent picnic brunch. We were able to enjoy brunch Sunday morning and it was excellent. Everything tastes so fresh and is presented beautifully. Normally most people would do their own thing at a B&B, but we actually enjoyed hanging out with Graham and Felicity. They were great company and it felt like we were all old friends. But if you desire complete privacy, they are completely respectful of that as well. Every little thing at Greenfield had a personal touch to it- from the food, to the specialty candies in the bedroom, to the decor. The owners are more than accommodating and the place itself is simply gorgeous. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

While this B&B is relatively new in the Asheville area, the warmth and comfort are evident as if it's been around for many years. Even though we arrived slightly early on the day of our visit, we found Graham to be extremely accommodating in a refined British style. After a short visit to the local Asheville art scene, we were greeted by a wonderful homemade chocolate cake garnished with eatable rose petals and chocolate mint leaves from his garden that Graham had prepared while we were touring. Sitting on the back patio of his home, overlooking 25 acres of a pastoral setting and the vistas of mountains in the distance permitted all tensions to dissipate. Morning breakfast was a delight as we were greeted by a one card menu that exhibited the skills and character of a professionally trained chef that used to work at the Biltmore. The new owner is a nice gentleman but he has put nothing into the place. Our room was clean but the overall condition was deteriorated. The white vertical blinds were broken and brittle with some repaired with black electrical tape. The closet door was broken and laying against the wall. The water pressure was very low so a shower was not possible and there was also no soap. The mattress was hard as a brick. They still allow pets but have a long list of "fines" that may be added to your credit card. Since the place was constructed in the 50's or 60's, there are no extra outlets to plug in any of your devices. Basic cable with volume limit on tv made it hard to hear over the window unit AC. It was a busy weekend in Maggie and most rooms were booked This place was mostly vacant. It was sad to see how much it had gone down over the years.

The kitchen was serviceable, however, we chose to utilize the included gas grills for the two meals we cooked onsite. It included a small oven, with a range, a microwave, a sink, and most basic cookware/utensils (including a basic "twist-in-pull-out corkscrew) We stayed in the "Mountain Haven" one bedroom cottage. The room was very clean, the bedding consisted of a sheet (clean), a plush throw, and a "country" quilt. All in all it was very comfortable. The true claim to fame of this establishment is that "pet friendly" may be the corner stone of the business model.The proprietress offers complimentary dog sitting, should you want to leave the dog, as well as poop bags, piddle pads, furniture covers, and a generous hand with the treats. The owners, a husband and wife who, between the two of them, do literally everything, seemed always willing to do anything to make our stay more comfortable (including a well built fire in the outdoor fire pit and enough wood to keep it burning for hours). One thing of note, upon checking in we spent almost an hour talking to the proprietress. Part of this may be because we had our dog with us and she "likes to make sure the dogs are comfortable if we decided to use the dog sitting service." Both my gf and I found her to be delightful, fun to talk to and full of interesting stories and facts about gardening. I do mention this, however, because both of the owners are willing to talk for a spell, and the wrong kind of person may not be interested in spending the time to hear it.
