I love Dr. Scheer to pieces! I could not be happier with her as my optometrist and the ladies who work at the counter have always been very sweet. I am a new patient here and I was very impressed. I made a last minute appointment and the receptionist was able to squeeze me in at my request. I had some serious concerns and Dr. Melrose made sure to check my vision and also focused on my concerns which made me feel very at ease. Dr. Rosemary Melrose is fantastic! I've been seeing her for 15+ years and is very friendly, thorough, listens carefully, and caring. She is wonderful with children, my 11 yr old can't wait till the 1st of the year so she can have her eye exam! The techs in the glass section are always so helpful picking out what glasses look best for my face and I didn't once feel rushed. The only bad experience I've ever had is with the billing department, and this was only one time in all the years I've been going there. My mom took my daughter to pick up her glasses. My daughter was fitted and was told to have a nice day and never sent to the billing window (that is usually what happens if you owe still). There was still some $ owed on the glasses but they kept sending the bill to the wrong address, I didn't even know about it till they called my mom (who is also a patient) demanding $. I called to inform them that they've been sending it to the wrong address and was told they won't change my address till the bill was paid with ALL the late payment fees. She was very rude and treated me like I was a deadbeat even though this was the first outstanding bill I've ever had with them and part of it was their issue. I make sure to never make payment arrangements and pay for the glasses in full so I never have to talk to her again. read more

It's been 3 yrs since I have gotten my eyes checked. Brookside Optometric was recommend to me by my two managers!! I went in to see Dr. Demshar. He was super nice and friendly. Also the staff was super friendly as well. The price I paid today was totally in my budget. Can't wait for my new pair of glasses come in and I highly recommend this place.. I moved to the Central Valley less than a year ago and couldn't find anyone at work who could recommend somewhere for me to get glasses. So I checked out Yelp and found Brookside - very convenient location, same-day appointments available, just what I needed. My experience at Brookside was nothing but pleasant. My eye doctor was patient and great at kindly and firmly keeping me from unconsciously moving away from the testing equipment (go ahead and laugh, you know you do it too). The kindly technician who helped me choose glasses must have brought me at least a hundred sets of frames to try on and didn't tease me much when I ended up with one of the first pairs I'd tried in the end. I went to brookside to get a new subscription. Dr. Vo-Laurel had helped me at another practice in Dublin and I followed her to Stockton because she is an AMAZING optometrist. She cares about her patients and makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable. She is on time and quick and on point. I don't like getting the air blown into my eyes for a certain test and she had another way to do it which was way better. She wants everyone to be happy and she helped me see better! Dr. Winnick was very professional and helpful with my eye care. He followed up with me and helped me get the right medical attention I needed. 6 months after I saw him, he called to check on me and how I was doing. Had Dr. Winnick not followed up with my eye care, I could have lost vision in one of my eyes. Thanks to him, I am recovering very well, and my eye sight is back to 20/20. Came in today To have my glasses readjusted. Very nice person helped me but when she went to clean the glasses apparently there was something in the machine and it scratched my right lense right down the middle where my vision line is. She felt bad and apologized stated that I could take my glasses with me now and use them until the new lenses come in. I asked to speak to the manager there and another lady came out and talked to me and I asked her to have these overnighted but again no promises were made because they just don't know about the lab and it's in San Diego and blah blah and I told her put a rush on them I need to be able to see out of these glasses I don't have another pair. I have a non-glare coating on my glasses and they told me they were going to put the coating back on the new lenses but they were only going to warrant them for 1 year instead of 2. And why is that I wondered out loud were they expecting it to fail? No that's just what they were directed to do by their office manager. That's ridiculous this is unacceptable and I am posting a bad review on an optometry place that I have frequented for 25 years. Very poor business where is the owner? read more

I've been seeing Dr. Jim Winnick for five years now and I can finally say that I can see better now than I have seen in a long time. He spends a great deal of time working to ensure I'm seeing as well as I'm able to. I have Keratoconus which makes it very difficult to hone in my sight but he has the patience and understanding to make sure I leave his office able to see as best as I can. I'm a professional photographer so my eyes are my greatest asset so finding an experienced optometrist and keeping my eyes healthy are integral to my career. read more

Had high hopes but very disappointed. Got there early as directed to fill out paperwork but then the receptionist didn't give me any. Ultimately doctor had to ask me all the questions. I don't think she was happy about it. Optometrist was nice but really pushed the expensive upgrades. Felt like I was buying a car instead of glasses. Real issues started when I went two weeks later to pick up glasses. Something went wrong and I had to hold book up to my nose to read things! Two week wait again and it was only slightly improved. Girl says just take them home and try them. I was already getting a headache and couldn't hold anything I wanted to read up to my nose so I said no!! Get it right!! Two weeks later I picked them up. Lenses work but glasses keep falling off. I give up. I'll find someplace that cares about their patients. No one ever apologized or tried to make up for all the inconvenience. But their first line of defense and other office personal have something left to be desired. They're not real friendly. I will give it a 5 star if it's just the Doctors. We just moved here in Stockton and I was looking for a good Optometrist. My son wears glasses since he was in 3rd grade (5yrs now). I am very careful on choosing doctors for my son, I researched for a long time before I even try to make appointments. Our visit here went from very good to annoying bad! We made appointment and saw Dr Kathy Tran - she is FANTASTIC! Very smart, knowledgeable, great work with my son, she explained what she's doing making sure my son is comfortable, she took time in answering our questions and very sweet. And they have a state of the art equipment. To be clear.... Dr. Kathy Tran is 5 Star!! After she examined my son's eyes she turned us in to one of their staff/technician to choose my son's frame.... NOW the experience is turning to annoying bad... first of all, she was not good on making suggestions, I've been to a lot (we've got 9 glasses in last 5yrs) of optometry where techs are very good on looking at your facial shape and they know what size and shape will look good on you. This asian lady in Brookside just keep giving my son whatever she can grab that she thinks same shape that my son was looking for. She RUSHED me on choosing my son's glasses, every time I handed one to my son she make gestures, she did not make any conversations with us what so ever! When my son picked one (but I thought was too big to his face), she keeps saying to me... "he likes this" and when I tried to looked for another one she went to my son and say... "you like this, right?". She even started writing on her form and worked on mys son's frame when she knew I was still looking. I really felt RUSHED. When she was working on the prices, she wasn't explaining what she was doing/writing and did not even gave us choices.... My son had to asked for the transition lenses (good thing this is my son's 7th glasses so he knew!), I asked for poly lenses. I will come back to see Dr. Tran but I will make sure that lady does not help me choosing my frame. If they will give her to help me again... I will never come back! If I'm the one paying and wearing the glasses, it better be on my own liking and I want to make sure it's what I like... not settle for something because THAT technician is in a hurry!! read more

But each and all of them are truly superb. They do great work, with great customer service, delivering precision results. And they are always happy to adjust or repair your glasses. My family and I have been with Dr. Chow for over 6 years and she is the best! She knows out history and what we need. She takes the time to get to know us personally. She also takes the time to make sure our eyes are healthy in all ways possible.
