Dr. Seth Jenkins is the Veterinary Doctor we saw. He checked out both cats, looked in their ears for mites (thankfully, he didn't find any), and then he did exactly what I asked him to do: give each cat a deworming shot so I wouldn't get clawed to death by my fur babies. I was grateful that I could stay in the room with the cats because many offices make you wait outside because of COVID-19 fears. However, they did take each kitty away to collect the fecal specimen with the giant Q-tip. All in all, I was pleased with the Doctor and staff, and with the cleanliness of the offices, examination tables, counters, and floors. And the price. They had the cutest paintings on the walls, too. read more

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. This place is a joke. They open at 7:30am but don't count on a vet being available. I took my dog in after a rattlesnake bite they took care of him and sent him on his way he ended up going to the Emergency vet and they said he needed to monitored and taken back to his vet blood work ect. The vet wasn't coming in until 12pm. My neighbor had same issues I with an emergency situation with his dog as well. If you value and love your pet stay the hell away from here. The office might be open and have staff but without the vet your pet will definitely DIE. They also didn't do a coagulation test to make sure my dog wasn't bleeding internally and the emergency vet said wow. read more

We are full time travelers and needed to find a veterinarian to treat our 13 year old Standard Poodle. We contacted Brooksville Veterinary Hospital and were immediately given an appointment (on a Saturday). We were greeted at the front desk by a very professional staff. We were immediately brought into an exam room. A short time later, Dr. Miller walked in and introduced herself. Dr. Miller was extremely thorough and examined our dog (who can be very skittish) with patience and tenderness. After diagnosing the problem, she gave us different options for treatment, as well as providing pricing for each of her recommendations. If you're a dog lover like we are, and are concerned about finding a knowledgeable veterinarian with an extremely professional staff, we highly recommend Dr. Miller. Happy client of two years. I have two vets I go to only now - this one and the clinic of Weeki Wachee that I go to regularly. When one is overbooked and cannot see my dogs same day I go to the other vet and vice versa. I try to come here only but if their schedule is too busy i have no choice but to go elsewhere. They are friendly, professional and have good bedside manner. They can be pricy but I haven't changes vets because it's hard to find one where both the staff and vets are great. I had another vet I went to for so many years - kind animal care - but stopped seeing them in July 2022 because I felt like an unimportant number in their rotation. The Brooksville vet clinic has never made me feel this way. read more

Dr. Jenkins is an amazing Vet. We have been going to him for over 5 yrs. We started with him in Lecanto and followed him to Brooksville. He first fixed my Lab who had pulled her hip out while on vacation. He gave all options and was so gentle with her and she loved him. He took care of her until last fall when Old Dogs Disease was too much for her and she crossed the Rainbow bridge. My Mia a Pug/Shih Tzu mix loved going to see him. He was so caring when we think she had a stroke he even came in on a Saturday to take care of her. Our current Stafford mix is only going to him as he helped him when we rescued him with a bad eye, which he never gave up on him and today he a beautiful boy with perfect eyes. I brought a kitten in to be checked for an injury. The tech was extremely rude. It is the third of the month. Unfortunately, I just got through paying my rent(1,000.00), car payment(488.85), insurance(270.60) and utilities(286.65). So upon calling them I asked if they could help me out. I borrowed the exam fee from a neighbor to make sure this kitten was okay. The tech proceeded to talk about me in the hall when I said I couldn't afford a vaccination today. They IMMEDIATELY assumed this kitten was over 17 weeks old! And wouldn't see him unless I applied for care credit and got the shot. While they were out of the room I called another vet explaining the teeth in the kittens mouth and that the kitten wasn't more than 2lbs when I brought him home. The office I called assured me this kitten should only be 12-13 weeks old. When the tech came back in and I asked how they can just assume he is over 17weeks of age, I received more attitude. It seems to me that the office was more concerned with charging me more money, by making up he's over the 17 weeks than just checking his injury. What saddens me most is I brought my puppies into this office a few months ago and I loved the vet. Even referred several friends. I was on track to switch my other dogs to this office. But unfortunately now I won't be. I have never been treated so disrespectfully in regards to my financial situation. And was considerably offended when care credit was suggested to pay for a vaccine! I vaccinate all of my animals and provide all the care they need. I'm not sorry nor ashamed that I successfully paid all of my bills and have no money left over. And after I stated I could not apply for care credit continued to pressure the matter. I've applied in the past and couldn't get it then for myself....Im so disappointed in this experience. I walked out. And I am seeing the vet I called while in the office. My response after being told by them I stated that the kitten was 17 weeks old and it was documented I did so. False! Very Unprofessional!!! ***Response to clinic*** I never stated the kitten was 17 weeks old! I told the your staff member at the front desk I didn't know his exact age and that he looked to be 7 weeks old almost 3 weeks ago when I rescued him from a dog trying to bite him. And that he was less than 2lbs in weight when I brought him home. So I am certainly confused on how it's documented that I said that, when I in fact did not. Your tech told me he was 17 weeks and I said that it wasn't possible. Kittens can not even receive a rabies vaccine until they reach 14 weeks of age. And he has an apt on 7-13 for those vaccines at petluv. Irregardless of this situation we traveled to another vet's office in springhill who confirmed he was infact no older than 12 weeks of age and that he can not have a rabies vaccine for another 2 weeks who glady examined him and prescribe us what we needed. And when I told them about my experience this morning was shocked. I fully understand the need for vaccines as all 5 of my animals are utd and well vetted. And not taking responsibility proves to me my choice in leaving was valid. I will be leaving several more reviews where it's applicable. I was visiting Brooksville recently, due to my sister's unexpected illness. She was admitted to ICU for a rather lengthy hospital stay, and I needed to bring her cat back to my home in another state. The cat could not travel/stay in my home without necessary shot records, etc. and my sister was not able to communicate if the cat's immunizations were current or even what vet she used. Brooksville Veterinary Clinic to the rescue! They went above and beyond in every imaginable way possible. At one of the most difficult times in my life (we almost lost my sister), they stepped in and were quite simply angels here on earth. Every employee we interacted with that week was amazing! You can tell how much they love animals, your pet included! Dr. Miller has got to be the sweetest, most kind vet I have ever met.....there just isn't enough superlatives for her or her staff. At a very emotional and traumatic time for my family they were exactly what we needed. They could have charged us a small fortune and we would have had to pay it---after all we were juggling hospital visits and trying to find a way to get the cat back to my state, and all within a very specific time frame----but they didn't. They charged us a very reasonable rate for all they did! And they were just so.....kind. I'm still a bit taken aback by that unexpected kindness during such a terrible time for us. I will never EVER forget that, and I hope God blesses everyone there for that kindness. Thank you Dr. Miller for all you did, and for your wonderful crew. You should be extremely proud of the business you are running. I know I will be talking about our experience there for a very long time. read more

This is from another review I did, I will copy it with parts of her response as the other site won't let me respond to her response. Needed to euthanize our 14-year-old Lab, Chewy. We just moved to the area a month ago and had been to Brooksville VET 1 time (the week before). Once we got into the treatment room, they came in with a credit card machine right away to pay for the process. They said they would be right back with sedation. After waiting a painful 20 minutes, I had to leave the room and ask about the sedation. A couple minutes later the tech came in and gave sedation, which was an injection to her rear, our dog screamed, they said it was from the burning sensation (our dog in all her vet visits previously never had an issue or made a sound with a needle prick). The Vet came in about 10 minutes later to administer the final drug in her front paw with a needle. I was watching the whole thing, our dog was screaming in great pain. This happened after she stuck her. Chewy was screaming with pain for about 10 seconds in all even after the Vet withdrew the needle (The Vet did not use a Tourniquet to help find the vein). Of course I said to her; we have to find another way. The Vet said it was because it was from the excitable stage from the Sedation and it happens with this breed (Labrador) and that our Labrador was more aware of what was happening. She gave us the option of her taking Chewy to the back room and putting an IV in and doing it back there or trying again in the rear paw, which she recommended we try, we went with that and Chewy finally passed in peace. After reflecting back on the experience as well as talking to another Vet from our old home, we came to these conclusions: The initial medication was just a sedative and had no anesthetic (the bill we received does not list the medications given). The screaming pain Chewy felt from the 2nd medication was not from the needle prick, But from the vet missing the vein and accidentally injecting the area with the medication that caused a severe burning sensation (This would be expected and would be the norm if the vein was missed as the medication is very caustic). In the end from what we were told from another vet, all the pain could have been avoided if a simple butterfly IV was used, which is very easy to place and the least painful. It also would have assured the medication would have been directed into the vein. We were told this is the most common practice at least in our old area. For us this was too much of a painful experience and would never bring our other dog to this practice. Please, Please make sure if you have to go through this same procedure, Make sure she uses an IV for your dog's sake. Her response included "As I explained, the schedule was full when you called that morning. Rather than push Chewy off to another day, we squeezed her in, causing me to be double booked." ....this is not true, we called that morning and didn't expect to get an appointment that soon, we were fine with doing it the next day or two (Chewy was chronic and and was in any acute distress), it was the secretary that gave us an appointment an hour later as she said they had an opening. Another response: " Unfortunately, as soon as you were placed in the room, we had an emergency walk in. " ......not true, no dog came after we arrived and in fact we could hear Dr. Miller in the other room the whole time (must of been in the next room). Another response: "Some veterinarians will argue that because an intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SQ) injection can sting, it is better to forego a premed altogether."...... Talk to a Vet, most Vets won't use an IM as it can be painful, and depending on the drug given it can create a burning sensation as it did in this case, it was not the stick itself that caused the pain in chewy, not to mention the vet was do busy to give the shot it was an assistant that did that, Dr. Miller wan't in the room at that time or anytime before that. According to my old VET (which I talked to again yesterday). a SQ is common and in almost all cases the dog doesn't feel it as its a very small stick and med doesn't cause a burning sensation. The butterfly catheter is then placed for the final med. Another response: "I do not believe that Chewy's vocalization was due to pain or that any of the euthanasia solution was injected outside of the vein. I have been a part of and performed more euthanasias than I wish to count, and this is based on my expert opinion." Chewy's vocalization as you called it was a high pitch screaming that went on for ten seconds. You admitted to me on the phone that yes their could have been an accidentally injected outside the vein. Furthermore you also admitted on the phone that you used to use a butter fly catheter in the past and that clients didn't like to see the catheter in, I have a hard time believing that. In the end, I hope you go back to using the catheter. read more

After waiting for 15 minutes to be seen, even though I was the only person there, I was surprised by the assistant telling me more money will be due because my pet needed some vaccine shots and I would need to pay today. I wasn't advised of any extra's when I called to make the appointment so had I known it would be much more than originally stated I would have gone to my original Veterinarian.
