I was happy that I found this place, because the room was adequate and it was fun to walk up and down the main drag in Metamora to see all the shops and restaurants open that weekend. I understand the accomodations of a b&b aren't going to be up to hotel standards, so if you expect that going in you shouldn't be disappointed with your stay. In the morning we had a yummy breakfast of cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, fruit, cereal and anything else you could ask for. Betty did a great job making sure we were satisfied, and even sat and talked with us while we ate. You can't beat the price: $70 for the night we stayed. I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

If you find yourself in Brookville, this independently managed hotel is a good option. We called to…read morebook 24 hours in advance and got the best rate in the area with our AARP membership. Check-in was easy and the clerk was friendly. The room was clean and nice. The bed is comfortable and the tv was easy to use. The hotel is quiet at night and I had the best night sleep in a long time. Rooms are equipped with coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hair dryer and safe. The WiFi was easy to connect. A small workout room is available for guests. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available all day in the lobby. The Seattle's Best coffee is good. I saw several conference rooms and an outdoor patio available. A lounge is supposed to be open in the evenings, but was closed during our visit. A complimentary breakfast is served daily. The breakfast was very good with hot and cold options. My husband made a cinnamon waffle and a full plate of sausage. I had eggs with a warm biscuit. The orange juice is good. Bananas were a bit overripe, but other fruit was fresh. Note: There is an added charge for use of the safe, but we did not use the safe, so we were refunded the fee. We told the desk manager upon check out. I'm not sure why they even have this surcharge ($1.75) as it is annoying and detracts from the great stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and recommend highly.

I was told at check in that if I used the in-room safe, I would be charged $1.87. What that means to me is that I will not be charged if I don't use it. I did not use it but was charged anyway. Have you been to Metamora? This practically IS Metamora. It's funky, comfortable, casual, low with amenities, and high with hospitality. It's not for everyone. Heck, it's probably not for most. But, for those who click with it this is an awesome way to experience rural Indiana. Catrina, or "Cat," is the owner. She's practically the definition of good people. She's a great host, though be aware she does not live on-site. She's here during events, of course, and she'll host you in. You'll get her homemade breakfast in the morning (included with stays, though not menu-based - she makes a meal). However, once she's gone you may very well be alone here. If that freaks you out, well, be aware. Depending on what's going on, The Cat & The Fiddle can be a B&B, a gift shop, an eatery, or an all-out event center. It's not a huge place, though you're always a bit surprised with the crowd that gathers for music. It holds more than you'd expect, though it's fair to say they're packed in. The rooms are basic. They are comfortable but no frills. I kind of assume there's a phone here, though I've never seen one. They've historically not had wifi, though I do know Metamora just got a major wifi upgrade so that may have changed depending upon your network. In terms of accessibility, all of Metamora is pretty hit-and-miss. This is a historic river town with nearly all the buildings being historic. You can probably get into the event center itself, though staying (with most if not all rooms upstairs) would be a no go. I'm a wheelchair user and I've definitely been into the downstairs area, though it definitely involves some maneuvering. This really is closer to a retreat or a casual B&B than anything. The music typically leans toward folk/Americana or "old timey." Occasionally, you may see a small comedy show come through. There are definitely not events every weekend, so if you're thinking of coming here and/or thinking of staying here you definitely want to contact prior to the trip. Do NOT assume a room will be available. Be aware, as one reviewer noted, that Metamora is a very small town with only 207 residents. After around 6pm or so, the town pretty much shuts down unless there's a concert, special weekend, or other event. There's the nearby Whitewater trail and historic site, but those skittish about being alone in the country should take note (that said, it's a VERY small town and there are actually other residents). You are pretty close to Brookville here, as well. While accessibility is a concern (thus, I would never stay here), this is a beautiful little place run by Cat, a lifelong Metamora resident who brings hospitality to life.

Was the place fairly empty when i got in? Sure. But so was the town. I'd go back here in a heart beat. If you read any reviews about this place, read mine. I'm as picky as they come and really enjoyed myself here. In addition, those complaining about the prices of the restaurant.... don't come to LA. You'll just complain all day. To the owners of the hotel + restaurant = great job. To preserve a place that's almost 200 years old, while upgrading certain aspects to maintain an up to date look, is really inspiring. In addition to the fresh fruit cups, all the food Charotte and Jay cooked was exceptional- blueberry coffee cake, a breakfast cake that used the similar spices as carrot cake (cant remember the name, but chef's kiss), quiche, and breakfast casserole. And when one of our kids refused to eat anything with fruit in it, they provided him with cheerios! The rooms were spotless, and the beds were super comfortable. They even served Eggs Benedict for breakfast at our request. The Nautical room was very spacious with a private bath. Very comfortable bed and luxurious bedding and linens. The Doctor's Inn is just minutes from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. For being in a small town, we found no lack of enjoyable things to occupy our time. Good eateries ... American, Italian, Chinese, Mexican ... no shortage of choices. Remember to check out local events. We found a great show playing at Hall Auditorium on the Miami University campus. It made for an enjoyable evening you would expect in a large city center, only it was in a beautiful country college town.
