    Branch Hill Estate

It didn't take long, however to notice that the pictures on the property listing don't reflect the current reality. The cabin is badly in need of a deep clean. When we walked upstairs the room full of beds was perfect for the occasion, but we walked on the balcony to find filthy, outdated furniture and dirt and debris all over the balcony. The windows were filthy, the coffee maker and toaster were nasty, and there was a thick layer of dirt peaking out from under the couch. There was a visible dust layer on everything, the board games, the air hockey table, in every corner and windowsill. The paddle board decals are all coming off and the board wasn't blown up enough to use. The propane fire pit had no propane. All the outdoor furniture was covered in bird poop and dirt, including the front porch furniture and around the fire pit. There was also an outdoor container next to the fire pit that had several bags of trash in it, creating an unpleasant stench as we sat near the fire pit. We live locally, so we went to our home and got a leaf blower to try to clean off the patio/balcony and I had to wipe down all the chairs around the fire pit so that we could sit there without getting filthy. We understand that this is a farm setting, however for the cost, more attention needs to be given to cleanliness and replacing small appliances, or at least giving them some much needed attention. On a positive note, the animals were cute and we enjoyed the kittens that hung around the porch.

The owners make it easy, nearly everything is provided and the rooms are well appointed. The property is right off of the little Miami river and bike trail and just around the corner from quaint downtown Loveland with restaurants and bars.

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at The Lofts on Main in historic Cambridge City, Indiana. The…read moremost important thing for me in lodging is cleanliness, and the Lofts felt brand new! The rooms were airy and comfortable and tastefully decorated. In fact, when we first arrived it was fun just looking at the vintage artifacts sprinkled throughout. The kitchen area was sparkling clean and had everything I needed to prepare some dishes for our holiday meal. The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of towels! For anyone driving east-west through central Indiana, I'd highly recommend taking U.S. 40 (the Old National Road), exploring historic Cambridge City (lots of great antique stores!), and staying at The Lofts on Main. I'm already looking for an excuse to go back in the new year.

The Lofts on Main are a new hot spot in Cambridge City, IN - located right along US Route 40 (The…read moreNational Road) and in the midst of an antique alley. With 2 lofts available, you can choose the west loft for a solo or couples getaway (sleeps 2) or the east loft for a group (sleeps up to 4). The lofts are newly remodeled in a historic downtown building. Each loft features a cozy & comfortable king-sized bed, kitchen, dining area, spacious living room, a washer/dryer, and full-size bathroom. You can rent by the night or long term. The living room was one of my favorite spots, with super cozy couches, pillows, a blanket, armchair, games, books to read, and a nice sized smart TV. The stocked kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal or just have something simple. A Keurig and K-cups are provided. The candy dish in the kitchen was a nice, sweet touch. Cleaning supplies & disinfectants were made available in the loft as well. You enter the suites through the front of the building and stairs are used to access them. A backdoor with stairs that lead to the parking lot in the back of the building is available as well if need. A laundry closet features and washer and dryer, laundry basket, and other laundry accessories. The front windows look out unto Route 40, adding lots of natural lights and a quiet view. My stay was quiet and comfortable. It was a perfect little getaway. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Suggestions for cinnamon rolls at King's Cafe (walking distance) and visiting the surrounding shops were appreciated (and delicious).

Set aside the steep pet fee ($50, more than the destination fee of $40). there was a lovely set up for my dog and a lovely written note. That memory stayed with me: great hot shower, comfortable bed, and peace in the woods. Fast forward 5 years- I'm now married and want to take my wife and dog out camping again. Now it's called Postcard Cabins and a division of Marriott Hotels. I actually liked the layout of this campsite. The cabins are more spread out and all offer nice vantage views. It was very cold, but we were able to start a fire and felt very warm inside. I will say that while pet items were provided, the pet treat was lacking. Also, it wasn't laid out on the table like it happened for me before, and the welcome message was pretty brief. Maybe it's signs of the corporatization, but overall I would rate my experience 8.5/10. Enough for 5 stars, but something felt a little less than my experience 5 years when it was called Getaway Cabins. Also, Getaway was a great name- not sure why it was changed.

Check-in was easy and the clerk was friendly. The room was clean and nice. The bed is comfortable and the tv was easy to use. The hotel is quiet at night and I had the best night sleep in a long time. Rooms are equipped with coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hair dryer and safe. The WiFi was easy to connect. A small workout room is available for guests. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available all day in the lobby. The Seattle's Best coffee is good. I saw several conference rooms and an outdoor patio available. A lounge is supposed to be open in the evenings, but was closed during our visit. A complimentary breakfast is served daily. The breakfast was very good with hot and cold options. My husband made a cinnamon waffle and a full plate of sausage. I had eggs with a warm biscuit. The orange juice is good. Bananas were a bit overripe, but other fruit was fresh. Note: There is an added charge for use of the safe, but we did not use the safe, so we were refunded the fee. We told the desk manager upon check out. I'm not sure why they even have this surcharge ($1.75) as it is annoying and detracts from the great stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and recommend highly.

I was told at check in that if I used the in-room safe, I would be charged $1.87. What that means to me is that I will not be charged if I don't use it. I did not use it but was charged anyway. It is just one more of those petty charges corporations tack on in order to market the room at one price but charge another. Perhaps it is silly to react this way to a $2.00 charge, but I resent it.
