By not including any less than complimentary comments a clear picture is not being presented. My mother (and my father until his passing) lived in the Seasons community for 11 years - 9 years at Seasons and 2 years at Courtyard. The years in independent living was tolerable - Courtyard, not so much. The lack of staffing, particularly at night, was very concerning. When you have one nurse on duty and a scattering of aides handling 3 floors of elderly residents, this is makes for a less than ideal assisted living arrangement. Care conferences were never held, repairs requested for her apartment (broken tile in bathroom - possible trip hazard), thorough apartment cleaning as stipulated in lease agreement each took over a year to achieve. Other than an ideal location there is nothing ideal about Courtyard. My mother at age 96 passed away recently and no one in the management of Senior Lifestyle had the humanity to even utter condolences to our family. Concerns regarding the facility were also voiced to the President of Senior Lifestyle in their Chicago headquarters and has also been completely ignored. Would NOT recommend this facility to any family looking for an assisted living facility.

I knew little & was taught less by a fellow caregiver! By the grace of God were my grandma and I blessed with the BEST team of girls & trainees I have Ever had the pleasure of working with! I can not put these girls on a pedestal BIG ENOUGH to describe How Fabulous each and every employee was! When I explained to each and every home health team member that I was so very new as a caregiver, each and Every member was consistently patient, and precise about how, what and why things are done the way they are for the elderly. If I had a question they answered it, I had thousands! My uncle bought a Nu Step for my grandmother which none of us knew how to use alas Mallory (PT) was right there and delightfully willing to explain every lever, button, and knob! Even after the nurse had released her from care, when an emergency situation occurred Marcie (nurse) was at the house within the hour! Whether it is the TCU unit or home health Otterbein is a necessity if help is needed for the elderly enduring rehabilitation. I assure you I have seen where the facilities you DO NOT want yopur loved ones in!!!!!!

One of the aids came fllying up to me in the hallway and grabbed a pamphlet ouf of my hands and…read morescreamed, "Oh NO...I'M NOT GOING TO LET YOU MAKE HIM SIGN HIS MONEY OVER TO YOU!" I was sitting with a friend who lived in assisted living there. I was in independent living at the time. I can only assume that the Lodge allowed a rumor to circulate that I was after his money. Never was this true. We had become friends and he needed help because his power of attorney was not taking care of his needs. He asked me to help him. In retrospect I guess I shouldn't have gotten involved, but I didn't know/realize that his family and the Lodge staff would turn on me. My intentions were honorable....This rumor should have been stopped by the DON. I stood up and tried to get my pamphlet back (it was information on power of attorneys for healthcare....it was NOT anything for him to sign. Thie entire situation was very much mishandled. They handcuffed me and sent me to jail for the night.....saying I was guilty of "physica laggression, and an attempt to cause harm to the aid.". Then when I returned to the facility, Crystal Flaherty DON came to my door with an eviction notice that gave me 24 hours to leave. This entire situation has cost me a lot of money (I have had to move twice). And I was to get on medicaid waiver after paying full price for two years....but the eviction happened just prior to the two year mark. I tried to discuss this with Edward Beatrice COO, but I have found that the Lodge employees stick together, and don't want to deal with the truth...he dismissed me. Then recently he sent me a letter telling me not to communicate with anyone at the Lodge and "to refrain from making or spreading false statements about "Caring Place" Wow....talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
