We decided to get out of town when Hurricane Beryl came rolling into Galveston, and stayed the week in Brenham to relax a little. If you know the area then you know there is no shortage of good food and drink to be had, so we did just that. Brossa's was our last meal in town, and what a way to end a week of fine dining and libations. The food is excellent! The service was tip top! In search of a restaurant that is actually open on a Monday night in Brenham (most are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), we happened to find Brossa's Cibo e Vino open. First and foremost, the food was fantastic...probably the best fine dining meal that I have had in Brenham, ever! The owner/chef greeted us when we walked in and helped guide us through the menu and wine list: The pastas are made in-house, and the dishes are both delicious and creative. The Italian wines were good, too. The restaurant is located just a block or two off of the main downtown market area in a cute house, and the atmosphere is quaint and quiet. The food is always great! Homemade pasta everything is made from scratch. Brossa's Cibo e Vino is a wonderful addition to our restaurant choices here in Brenham. They even have wonderful gluten free pasta! It is one of my favorite places to eat here! I'll start by saying the food is so good! The chef who I believe is also the owner was a delightful man and you can really tell he's so proud of his restaurant and food. The hostess was also a very sweet helpful angel of a young lady. We arrived for dinner on a Tuesday evening, our group was a party of 3 ladies. As we waited another party came in behind us and there were two of them. The hostess and waitress were handing the phone back and forth and they both saw there were two parties waiting to sit. When the issue on the phone was settled the hostess took us to a table and a couple minutes later sat the couple behind us. The waitress immediately greeted the couple and took their wine order. She did not come by, make eye contact, or even say she'd be back to take our drink order. The hostess brought us and the other table waters and the waitress returned with the couples wine and explained the specials to them and took their appetizer order. And again ignored us. It's a small restaurant and there's absolutely no way she didn't see us and she did see us and made eye contact when we got there so it was weird. Then the couple received their appetizer and yet a third visit by the waitress while we still were just sitting there with water. I was getting ready to call and place our order by phone so we weren't just sitting there hungry and ignored. I figured I could just walk the couple of feet to the counter and get our order and eat it at the table. Finally though the chef, bless that lovely man, came out, brought us wine promptly, explained the specials and went to start preparing the one we chose. The waitress finally came over and asked if we wanted an appetizer and we told her the chef was preparing it and she said with quite a bit of snark that there was no way that was happening because if she didn't put it in he would not be doing anything. We ordered dinner at that point. The hostess brought our appetizer and our dinners. The waitress came by two more times but honestly the hostess should get a raise because she was doing the waitresses job and she was doing it very well. So, the food is amazing, it's all freshly made from the pasta made in house to the meats freshly cut fresh from the shop next door. Aside from the waitress who was not really interested in waiting on tables the rest of the experience was wonderful. Hopefully our next visit will be much better. read more

We were passing through a little town in Texas (called Brenham) on our way to Florida from California and just happened upon this local gem...Brossa's Cibo e Vino! My goodness! The ambience was authentic and charming. The staff was attentive. Food was out of this world delicious. Chef Brian even treated us (the weary #EV.Tripper) to a charcuterie board complete with an introduction to each specialty item. I ordered the garlic/spinach and ... scallops with my Cesar Salad. My son had the Italian Pesce e Patate...elegantly served. Ok, ready for the best part? Order extra order of their Garlic Toast. Oh my! The best we've ever had HONESTLY... (next to the Cesar Salad). We had dinner a few weeks ago and it was fantastic! Really great food and the service was exceptional! The restaurant is very cute and even though it was full on a Saturday night the vibe was great. Our server was very young (too young to deliver our wine) but extremely knowledgeable. Decided to bring my son and daughter in law for a shared birthday celebration on Sunday. Was expecting their lunch menu but was surprised by brunch offerings instead. Didn't see that menu anywhere. Ordered our brunch but our food came out slowly and a plate or two at a time. My husband ordered 3 of the small plates but they all came separately and after the rest of us had our food. They dropped off his bacon but his eggs and potatoes were 6-7 minutes behind. Needless to say he was a little disappointed! The food was good overall but more description would be great. The potatoes were tasty but most were so crispy that they were difficult to eat. I think the Sunday brunch is something new they are trying out but it's not something I would go back for and it's very pricey. Overall great restaurant but they need to post their Sunday menu so people aren't surprised like we were. Will definitely come back for dinner soon! read more

What an amazing find! We have been to many Italian restaurants all over and Brosso's in Brenham is as good or better than any we have been to. Brian and Mary Ann were so gracious and really proud of the food and restaurant they have made. I would recommend Brosso's to everyone. The waitress presented the day's specials with no mention of pricing. I know, I should have asked, but when the bill came and the THREE scallop appetizer was $30, I was a little surprised! Really? Somehow, I came out of there feeling like I was scalped. The garlic bread was fabulous, as others have said. Branzino entire was enjoyed. Shrimp Diavalo was VERY peppery, so if you don't like spicy, don't order that. I was kinda bummed they did not have Eggplant Parmigiana. Only three or four desserts was pretty limiting. read more

We were enjoying the great small town atmosphere of Brenham and chatting with a new friend who suggested Brossa's. We found the converted house easily and there was ample parking. Though we didn't have a reservation they were able to seat us. We don't drink alcohol but they had fresh squeezed lemonade that was delicious. After caesar and arugula salads with grilled garlic bread, we had the authentic Italian lasagna. It was cheesier than the typical run of the mill lasagna so a new adventure for our taste buds. The first time I came here it was amazing but sadly after tonight I don't think I will be returning. We had a reservation for 7:15 and when we got there they acted super surprised and ran around for a bit before coming back to me to tell you that the table they expected me to have wasn't done eating and they didn't know when they would be done so we had to wait. First red flag. Once we were finally sat it was over 15 minutes before we were ever even greeted by our server or given water . It was over 30 minutes before we were finally able to order appetizers or other drinks besides water. We ordered the meatball appetizer. It looked amazing once it came out. Both the people with me were already half way through theirs when I realized they were COMPLETELY RAW in the middle. No one would stop or acknowledge us so I had to waive down the hostess and let her know. Her reply? Do I want her to take it. I'm sorry but?????????? Really? Of course you need to take it back. As soon as it was taken back a server (not ours) came out and immediately grabbed the other two half full plates and our silverware. To my surprise not one person, chef, manager,or owner came out to even apologize much less take it off of our bill. An HOUR AND A HALF AFTER we ordered, our food finally came out after we watched everyone around us get their meals, even the people that arrived long after we had ordered our food. The pasta was indeed fresh but the sauce was lacking. We didn't even eat half of our plates. Nothing but the side of potatoes and the garlic bread were even worth taking home. And lastly. In our reservation that I have a confirmation email of, it was stated that we were there to celebrate a birthday, I listened to them mention stuff like that to other tables but not us. I don't know if we weren't taken seriously because of our age or the fact that weren't their regulars but this whole birthday celebration was a complete joke. A charming family Italian cooking vibe in a multi-room vintage house with a lovely menu selection and nightly specials. Seared scallops were a lovely appetizer, not a lot of fussiness about the preparation but perfectly cooked. Same with the branzino, cooked to perfection, though a little bit of garnish like a few roasted tomatoes or shallots would have helped the presentation. Pappardelle pasta was luxurious with a rich ragu in a a very healthy portion. Wine list will no doubt refine over time, we would look forward to more Italian offerings but we enjoyed a nice bottle of Sagrantino that was quite nice. Service was efficient and earnest. Brenham is lucky to have this place and it was completely full the night we dined there, we were glad to have made a reservation. Definitely will return. read more

Great new spot in Brenham!! The owner/chef was super nice and explained the concept. I appreciate when owners introduce themselves! We made reservations and had no trouble getting in. It's cute inside, service was great. Food was a little slow to come out - which was great for us because we wanted to enjoy our wine and charcuterie board. We also got the wild boar pasta and the vodka sausage. Everything was great. Had dinner there tonight , this is my 2nd review . Wow ! Again I had the shrimp with pasta . Amazingly good ! Service was excellent.! In my travels to most major cities in the US , and even Italy , this dish is better than 98 % of them . Homemade fresh pasta and real gulf shrimp might make the difference . But you have got to try this boutique restaurant . Not a broad menu , but I have no problem with that if it's good , it is . I'll try something different next time . read more

The food was okay. Very limited selection. Entrees were enough to fill you up but smaller for almost $20 each. I was expecting a larger portion. There was also lots of hard gristle in the sausage. I was also disappointed in the service. Slow and inattentive. After we ordered, we were asked if we would like some garlic bread. We said sure. Then, we were charged $8 for the garlic bread without ever being told. The waiter ever told us it was a charge and acted like it was complimentary. Eggplant parmigiana is five layers of 5" wide pieces of eggplant piled on top of each other and cooked perfectly with this incredible sauce, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil!!! We just bought a house in the area and came here for our first time. It was delicious and the young man that served us did a excellent job. They were out of a couple menu items, but it's a small restaurant and they make the pasta in house so totally understandable. We happened to be eating here the same night as a previous reviewer, Allie A. We were sitting right next to their table. They tried to smuggle in their own very cheap wine, which the waiter politely described was against their policy. My wife also ordered sea bass that night. She loved it and plans on getting it again next time. I'm a marine biologist based in Houston and I can confirm that it was sea bass and not trout. We can't wait to bring our friends and family back here to enjoy this delicious food and wine. read more
